I'm a drunken wino and I approve this video. I'm no wine expert and I'm more of a drinker of still wines, but I can easily distinguish between bad, mediocre, and good wines. The French champagnes are always consistently excellent, the Champagne houses put an emphasis on quality grapes and processing. Reputation, and more importantly, very high increasing demand across the world, has really driven up prices.
Cavas are an excellent, affordable alternative. If you can find it, try Naveran dama brut.
Proseccos - Can be very good, but sometimes lack in consistency, especially in years of unfavorable weather, some add lots of extra sugar to the second ferment trying to cover up poor grapes.
Not sparkling wines but deserve a mention.
Best bum wines - MD20/20 (aka Mad Dog) and Richard's Wild Irish Rose. Both have an alcohol content of up to 18% (36 proof), to quickly get you where you want to go. Down a bottle of one of these and you'll never be able to smell it again without wanting to vomit, unless of course you are really hardcore.

Lalit Kumar Sparkling is fizzy like Soda. Sparkling can be red, rose or white. Red wine has a more bitter flavour than white wine which has a more acidic taste. Sparkling is mostly white wine.
