flip side to the relationship thing: the grass is always greener on the other side. it's normal to be curious about how many other people in the world you could build a relationship with, the truth is there are tons of people with whom you could technically build a relationship. but when I was panicking about this once thinking I would never settle down, my therapist said: you don't break good things. if a relationship is going well and you love each other, and you're both doing what you want to do (at least in the moment), don't break up with them!!! you're going to lose something that you'll probably never be able to get back. that doesnt mean every relationship is good and if someone isnt right for you then obviously that's different, but unless there's something fundamentally wrong with your person / your common goals / your relationship / you don't love them anymore, then breaking up is only going to lead to the realization that the other fish out there arent actually better. and then eventually youll settle down for someone else and realize you could have saved a lot of energy, a lot of time, and your best friend if you had stopped admiring other people's lawns. (** I'm not at all saying this in regard to your decision/breakup I have no idea what reasons you had for breaking up, I just don't think breaking up just because you're curious is a good recommendation for all girls out there.)

Also I've been reading this book called Ego is the Enemy, highly recommend. Talks about the whole purpose/passion perspective. The whole to be or to do thing. It's really interesting cuz you said people don't "just be", but in this book the author stresses about what you DO more. Even and especially if you've achieved success, it's critical to continue to DO with purpose than to Be with passion. Actually I think that's what you meant just different wording, like about how people ask about career etc I think it comes under "TO BE" which is based on ego comparing to others rather than the individual journey. I think passion comes from what kind of person you want to be and what you really care about the most whether it’s a cause or a hobby. Thinking your passion has to be in terms of a career these days is only going cause some mental chaos because like you mentioned capitalism doesn’t allow everyone to survive off their “dream job”

Changed career paths multiple times and still havent found a job I really love. I honestly think that passion is just a scam. I used to worry about being passionate in my teenage years and now that I'm in my twenties. I know for sure that things like discipline and being open-minded about change are way more important. I mean yes, being passionate about something can be a plus but it's never enough to make you wake up every day and face the world when you are anxious or depressed. It's discipline.
