  • When Winx Wheels offered to send me some riding jeans to review, I accepted because I've seen their ads on FaceBook a lot, and wondered what they are really like -- the good and the bad.
    I hope this helps in your search for good value riding pants.
    Full disclosure: Winx Wheels supplied the pants at no charge in return for a review on RUclips.

    Buyer Beware! Buyers need to be aware of several things before buying. I bought two pair based on their size chart. They are way too long, and as mentioned, the knee pads are way too low. If you wash them as he did, you cannot return them. Luckily I have not worn (other than try on at home) or washed mine or removed the tags. I tried for a week to email them about the poor fitment, and even called their number. Got voicemail, and never a return call. This morning I called my credit card company to file a dispute. About 8pm west coast time, I get an email saying they will gladly help with the proper size. Hmmm, what a coincidence. Looking at their return policy, they will not say where you return them to, but the charge on the credit card, is in Australia. They do say on their website that they do not accept returns at their shipping warehouse, which I am guessing is Montana, since the number for customer service is a 307 area code. That covers the whole state of MT. So be prepared to pay ridiculous return shipping rates.
    Scoot Toots, you need to research these guys before recommending their products.
    Also YOU pay return shipping. So when I return mine, it will be for a full refund.

      That's sad to hear. I called it as fairly as I could, stating the positives and negatives. I can't review a product based on hearsay from others. There are always negative reviews, even on excellent products from trusted brands. I think I clearly conveyed the sizing issues I found with the jeans, and my 'tentative' recommendation was it may be a good value IF you can fit the way they are cut AND if they are on at half price. There are lots of riders endorsing them in video, but here's why: They wanted to pay me $100/month to review their products. They also wanted to edit my raw footage to create their version of my review. I refused those terms and told them I will only review with no money changing hands and they have no input into my video. They reluctantly agreed. I'll pin your comment to the top. Thanks for sharing the info.

    • @Handirifle
      @Handirifle 6 месяцев назад +1

      My experience is not "hearsay" its fact. The company has since contacted me by email, but only offered a discounted return. They say easy returns, and thats BS. FYI I had purchased mine before finding your video. My purchase was based on their advertising, which is misleading. They will NOT tell you how much the refund will be. Factor in the return shipping, discounted return = not worth it. I tried to give them away, no takers. So after seeing your video, I washed and dried them on hot water, and high heat dry, to try and shrink them somewhat. Washing them voids any chance of return, by the way. After all this time has lapsed, they just a day ago contacted the credit card company. One would think they would be a bit quicker to contact their creditors.
      I thought they were a good idea, still do, just do not recommend the company.

      @@Handirifle Yeah, the more I see Winx Wheels ads the more I'm reminded to question the motivations for some reviews. Great review. I bought 2 pair for $80 USD/pair. I am 6’1” and 170lbs and got the Medium size. The knee pads fit in the right place just fine with the wide part of the pad covering the knee cap. The hip pads were a bit of a mystery, do they fit horizontally or vertically??? If horizontally, they sit right below the hip bone. If vertically, the hip pads fit to cover the hip bone and the slit opening facing forward allows for pad movement when sitting. These “jeans” are very comfortable, the thigh pockets do allow for some access while sitting which is a bonus. Thanks to the 3% spandex, the pant legs do stretch to fit over my riding boots (RST Ambush CE waterproof). If there are any problems during a ride, I will post back any issues.
    First ride with the pants…….
    Very comfortable, nice stretchy feel. The leg pockets will NOT fit an iPhone with an otter box case vertically with the flap closed and snapped. The iPhone will fit horizontally (At an angle) and the flap will close and snap tight. I didn’t notice the knee pad top flap open at all during the ride (60-65 mph), I bought one pair in Olive drab and one pair in Black. I wore the black pair and they seemed to fit a bit more snug than the Olive Drab pair for some reason. No issues on the ride, maybe I got lucky.

    I have had these for several rides now. They are great for day trips in hotter weather. They would not be any good in cooler temps. Definitely warm weather riding day trip riding jeans, not for multi-day touring. I bought these for warm weather day riding so they are good. Would not be waterproof and probably not dry out overnight if they got soaked. I put the amour from my touring pants in these which is better quality and it fits perfect. As I mentioned before, I am 6'1", 193 lbs and XLge fits perfect. They look like skinny jeans but they are not tight, they just look like they are. Waist is perfect. I have to wear a belt. The flap in the knees for the armour is not velcroed so as soon as you get riding they flip up and become mini-wind flaps. These are just jeans with armour pockets. I wish they went over my riding boots, but there is no way. To small at the ankles.

      Thanks for sharing your experience with these. Yeah, being denim they wouldn't be waterproof. If they were they'd be insanely hot I would think. Glad to hear they are largely working out for you 🙂

  • @My17A

    So mine arrived today. I'm in eastern Ontario Canada and won't be riding for at least a month yet, so this is only an initial impressions review. I ordered two pair, denim and green. Took about two weeks from ordering until they arrived so not to bad. I am 6' 1" - 193 lbs. with a 33" inseam. I ordered XL, and I'm glad I did. The fit is perfect, with no room for error! Large would have been to small. I'm athletically built. There is ample room around my waist, and I will need a belt. They fit me like skinny jeans on my legs and butt, but very comfortable. They look tight but they are not. They have stretch to them. I can move normal like wearing any other jeans. They look and feel really good. I hope they don't shrink in the wash. I will be washing in cold water and hang to dry. These pants will not go over your riding boots. They will have to go inside. My fault, I should have checked that. I would have preferred they go over my boots. Not a deal breaker. I put the knee protectors in the lower position and they fit just right when on or off the bike. On me, they do not hang low below my knees. I sat on my bikes in the garage (Yamaha V-Star 1300 Tourer and Kawasaki KLR 650 Adventure Bike) and they covered my knees just right. I don't think they are real CE Amour, but better than nothing. The hip Protectors are thin and cheap, but I have much better ones from my touring pants I can use instead. The pants themselves are really just a pair of jeans with pockets for amour. They are well made and seem like good quality but in a slide I think they would shred like any other pair of jeans. The buttons and zippers all seem to be good quality and work well. Decent sized cargo pant style pockets on both sides with a snap closure. The hand pockets at the waist could be deeper. I won't be putting anything in them that is valuable. Also, the pocket material seems a bit thin and may not last to long, but time will tell for that. I think the flap for the knee protectors should have Velcro cause they will probably become mini-sails when riding and catch bugs etc....Have to see. These are not touring pants for me. These are only for day rides on hotter days when I don't want to climb into my regular touring pants. These pants are jeans. They are not waterproof and the amour will provide minimal protection. The jeans material won't do anything, but at least you will look good sliding down the road. Overall, I'm happy with them and if I notice anything significant that needs to be said once I begin using them I will post it here.

    I bought these motorcycle pants this past August. I do love the fit and find them very comfortable. however I have one major complaint. I purchased the green color and within two weeks of wearing them they had faded to yellow almost. Only on the top of my thighs which is exposed to the sun most when riding. I contacted Winx Wheels and they felt that I had not followed the washing instructions. At this point I had not even washed them but even after washing them it made no difference. I explained all of this to Winx and they kept insisting that it was my washing that washed out the color. I sent them photos but to no avail, they only offered a $10.00 credit.

    Nice review. The jeans look good on you. I think these jeans might be good if you went somewhere and didn't want to look like a motorcycle racer when you got there. Especially since you can easily remove the knee protection as you pointed out. I personally like waterproof, more abrasion resistant fabrics. I ride for fun never really for transportation. So they're a normal pair of jeans with knee armour in them and some foam at the knee. at 50% off maybe it makes sense but anyone buying these at full retail is being ripped off. Get a set of rev'it/ resurgence / bull-it for a tiny bit more that actually have a CE rating on the garment! Armour pieces and apparel are rated differently. these are not a motorcycle pant.

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  10 месяцев назад +1

      I agree, at full price they don't make sense to purchase. There are several levels of riding pant protection. These are certainly motorcycle pants but at the low end, and so at 1/2 price they may suit someone on a budget. The pants I usually wear are the Sprint CA pants I reviewed after these: full CE armor with Dupont Kevlar lining, at a great price. No pants are going to protect against serious injury i.e. broken bones, but it helps.

    • @Scoottoots
      @Scoottoots  10 месяцев назад +2

      @@captainpugwash788 Yup, the difference is the Armor and the extra layers of material in the knees and that the armor doesn't float around in a fall. Otherwise they are regular heavy denim with no Kevlar or Aramid lining. Yes, the advertising is misleading. I didn't say it in the video, but their usual way of getting these video reviews (the ones you see in their ads), and what they offered me was, they would pay me $100/month to do video reviews of their products, that they would then edit and produce from the footage I send them. I told them the only way I would be willing to review a product for them was if no money changes hands, I produce and publish the video, and that it will be my honest opinion, the good and bad. Their usual method leads reviewers to be completely biased in their favor. I didn't think they would accept that, but they sent me a pair 🙂

    I bought a green pair, and after couple of short rides the started to turn yellowish, on certain areas, and I did not even wash them yet. Another major problem with these is the zipper. Little tag to operate it, is way too short (read cheap), so my finger nails always brushed against the zipper when opening or closing. The problem is, that zipper itself is very sharp (read even cheaper), so it catches the finger nails like sharp file cutting the nails in the process. This tells me that nobody from company owners ever tried to zip or unzipp this garbage zipper. My god, $140 for jeans with 1 cent zipper ......BUYERS AWARE !
