This video shows you how to make the perfect GoPro motorcycle helmet mount with Sugru. It works with most helmets and offers a custom mount to the front of your favorite motorcycle helmet.
Purchase Sugru: www.ridergroups.com/sugru
Sugru is a moldable glue that when cured turns in to a solid rubber mount that allows you to use a standard GoPro mount on any motorcycle helmet.

I always get nervous when people take out their grinders. 😄
Great and helpful video.
I actually did the same thing 2 years ago to my Nexx XR2 racing helmet, and is still on it without showing any issues of getting off, even at speeds 200+.
The mount holds on extremely well with Sugru! I think it's more secure that the usual 3M stickers.
Cheers!
Exactly what I came here to try to find out. Thanks 😁👍
Super slick install, you molded that adhesive very nicely, can hardly see that it's there
I just did the same mod on my Scorpion EXO T1200 and it turned out great! No grinding required with the fit on this helmet. Thanks for the awesome video!
Thanks so much for this video! I just started making videos and this video using Sugru on an uneven helmet surface was amazing. My rubber didn't smooth out like yours but that's me. Love your videos. I just got a motorcycle 4 years ago after having ridden in the mid 70's.
After buying a hero5, and a kabuto I was stuck, watching the first part where you cut the mount is all I needed, thanks for making it clear 👍🏻👌🏻
Just finished mine also! Now I'm just waiting, keep the videos coming!
Thank you! Great video and the end product looks amazing!
Just received my Sugru from Amazon. Going to set up my GoPro Hero 7 White this evening on my AGV K-3. Wish me luck.
That helped me a lot! Thank you man! Didn't know about the existence of that Sugru stuff before watching your video :)
Great video! This is the solution I have been searching for! I made one for my Bell MX9! It works perfectly!!
Simple yet brilliant solution. 😊
Great video man 👍🏼
Good stuff, grabbing some tips from here!
I have the same helmet. I added another piece of 3m double sided tape and used 2 spring clamps, one from the bottom (chin) and removed the breath deflector and clamped it from the top for a couple of hours. The extra piece of tape filled in the gaps. Worked great.
what a nice and tidy mounting. great idea on using the sugru!
This is my exact helmet and problem, thanks for the video. Will be checking out your other videos
Thanks MC rider! Waiting for the Sugru to arrive to mount to my Shoei GT-Air :)
Thanks a lot MCrider. I had installed my action camera in my helmet now.
Can't believe I didn't think of moldable glue!!! Keep making awesome videos!
thanks for making this. this is really helpful.
Great idea. Didn’t realize sugru was that strong. Now I know !!
Great video you made it simple thanks 😊👍
Very helpful and thank you!
Well done Sir!
Thanks for the advice. :)
Smart idea, very helpful for a newbie like me. Thanks..
Excellent video mate
Very nice!!! Great info!
this was a pain on this exact hjc, however its curing now so im curious for the result. thx for the guide
Nice tip. Looks very good.
Would this sugru hold up for karting?
As i would like to use it but wonder if it will hold up against the crashes. Obviously not direct contact to the camera or mount.
Excellent idea. Thanks for the idea. I use Sugru too. Very Handy item to hv around.
Wow thanks for this awesome idea!!! Do you have any other ideas on how to mount it? I like the chin mount one vs the top of the helmet. Again, awesome video! Definitely going to get that rubber glue.
You did a brilliant modification to make your chin mount work. I recently discovered a company that is creating custom GoPro chin mounts and I just reviewed it for my HJC F70 on my channel if you are interested. Easy installation and all air vents are still functional. Maybe not as satisfying as the custom job you did though! Love your channel Kevin!
I'm thinking of trying this. Has it held up to date?
Thanks for the tip!
I did this today for my session 5. So far so good, just waiting for it to harden up! thanks a lot for the video!
+K Ziap cool, it should be ready in the morning.
After 8 months how did it hold up?
+Michael Walsh still holding strong for me.
I've used 2-part epoxy putty for all kinds of things, but had never come across Sugru until I saw this. Somewhat to my surprise I find it's available online in the UK - so I'll get some to try this idea. Thanks, Kevin.
Slightly alarming to see an angle grinder being used without gloves, though, and with the workpiece being held in fingers! You don't need a vivid imagination to see that going very wrong. And on plastic? I shall be using a junior hacksaw and a file to shape my mount.
I have a Shoei Qwest in all white. Do you think the white sugru would blend in better?
Thanks for video I try it out sugru moldable glue! I got myself Bell Revolver EVO Jackal Helmet little heavy but I like it!
I used this set up with my Sony Action Cam and it works great. The set up is perfect for this camera also. Great idea and thanks for the tips. I used it on my Arai helmet and it fit well.
+It's The Dingo Glad it worked out for you. Mone is still holding strong, sugru is good stuff.
So did I hear that right? You went from a Shoie to a HJC IS 17? I'm having a hard time choosing between a Shoie Rf1200 or an Is 17. In your opinion is the shoie worth the difference in money?
Sorry buddy, Was going to use your link, but it's not there. Does this hold stronger than the red 3M tape? It sure looks much better! What about audio etc.?
Is the sugru removable should you ever want to take it off?
will this damage the helmet if taking of the sugru in the future?
Very slick!!! Thanks for the video...☺
I have to thank you very much for your RUclips clip I actually used it to do my helmet as you can see on my youtube I all so posted your link so people can watch your video so it can help them as it help me
Thanks for the idea of the Sugru Kevin! Finished product came out even better than the 3M tape. This stuff looks like the perfect solution for many situations that seem to come up around the house as well. I was a little surprised that you didn't rough up the painted area you were to be attaching to but I guess the rubber glue material is so awesome, it didn't matter. I'll be setting up my helmet as soon as I can locate the Sugru.
+William Jordan Yeah Sugru is some pretty useful stuff. There is a link in the description to order from Amazon if you can't find it locally. Let me know how it turns out for you, my mount is still going strong.
shall i use mseal for sugru? It still works?
Nice.. It worked for me..
Hi, thank you for the video, i'm about to start riding motorcycle and have a similar problem with my Caberg Drift Evo helmet, it doesn't have much space in the chin area.
(would love to order trough your link but unfortunately theres not one for amazon europe)
Keep up the good work!
Purchased a 2017 Yamaha WR20R two weeks ago....bought a GoPro5 black today. I wanted to position my GoPro in the same spot you did however, the curvature on the chin of my helmet would not allow for placement there. The only spot I could find was the left or right side of the helmet where the ear would be. I have seen videos with placement in these positions and half the view is obscured by the helmet...what's the point of having a GoPro, if you are only getting half the picture? I watched your video and just finished purchasing the Sugru from Amazon.ca Your mount looks amazing, I am definitely going to give it a go! Thanks for the awesome video and outstanding idea! Ride safe eh!!
What kind of auxillary lights are you running on your Tenere?
I just made a plastic bracket that clips into the vent. No adhesive. No screws and it is solid yet can easily be removed. I recommend.
Why is the session so much cheaper
Because it is junk.
can the sugru be taken off again or is it permanent?
MCrider should watch "Grinder Safety" videos ;)
You attached it perfectly. I will try that next week on my helmet.
very nice set up. thanks for sharing..
Can these adhesives be removed and if so, do they mark the helmet?
Beautiful
Great video. very helpful 🖒
Awesome, mine is still holding the camera well, no issues.
Good one 👍
doesnt the rubber damage the helmet when you want to remove it?
I hope this sugru is as strong as 3M tape, I just ordered the tape today damn, did forget about sugru......I want to put gopro 4 silver on my helmet.....
What is the mount called you used in the video? I'm new to all this and buying my first gopro. Doing research first before purchasing.
@ Kevin Morris: a big thumb up for that video. I almost give up on chin mount (have the same gap on helmet), but thanks to your video....i will go for it! Cheers from Europe!
+RogerGJager Thanks Roger, it has been working great for me.
2 changes in your procedure that I would employ. 1. Use hair dryer to heat adhesive pad to remove it. This melts or softens the adhesive to allow clean removal. 2. Cut first, then grind or sand to smooth. I've also used a torch to melt and round edges on other projects. Beer is an excellent motivator for any project. Put a cold beer in the cooler so that it's ready when you finish. Great help in "gitting 'er done".
I did the install yesterday, looked almost exactly like your setup. I was happy with it. I tugged on it to test it out, it pulled off! I was real skeptical about how it would hold on a polycarbonate plastic helmet shell. The package of Sugru warns against use on oily plastics. I am not sure if polycarbonate is in that category though. I pulled on it to make sure I wouldn't lose my new GoPro Hero 6, lol. I really wish this would've worked for me! The search continues for me I guess. Great video BTW!! I will subscribe ;)
How long did it set before you tested it? Mine set for 24 hours, still holding strong. I can hold the helmet with it. 👍
About 27 hours or so.
How’s the mount holding up?
+MCrider - Motorcycle Training I know this video is several years old....but hoping you will respond, curious on long term durability? How long did it last and such. Thanks
How has this mount held up?
FYI-if you can get on Amazon, the Sugru 8 pack is $15.99 at checkout for prime day. Pretty good deal since the 3 pack is $9.99.
I did this just now but with a different mount, I used the tri-pod mount
I like this
perfect ;)
no idea how can i chin mount my ls2 metro.
super... this trick really worked with me.. THUMBS UP!
+kishor mirji glad it worked for you.
hey m8 in what resolution you record from bike ? i have session 5 too :)
+Michał Xkills Games either 720 or 1080.
MCrider
Why you record so low resolution? Expecially at 720? For slow motion?
+thunder12121 A few reasons, saves disk space, easier files to manage and most view on a mobile device so resolution is not as big an issue. 720 still looks very good on my big screen TV.
Try the Umotos GoPro Chin Mount
how does it hold up vs the 3M sticky tape? lol my helmet has curves and a gap kind of like yours and ive never heard of this stuff before so i just used a bunch of 3M sticky tape to close the gap and it doesn't look nearly as clean and neat as your set up
+Look At Me Luis I have used it for several months now on this helmet and the one before with no problems. I can pick the helmet up by the mount and it is solid.
thanks for the feed back bud looks like im gonna have to try this stuff out
Hi everybody can you please give me some suggestions on how to verify with videotape and a go pro hero 4 silver my 1299S when it intermittently and randomly and unexpectedly stalls out? Every time i take it to the dealer they said they can't duplicate the problem and Ducati of North America video taped my bike with no problems. But my 1299s still stalls out on me in congested stop in go traffic all the time and when I feather the clutch and drive between 0 to 15 mph on the street or freeway. However I'm an amateur and I just purchased a hero 4 go pro silver camera do you have suggestions on how to mount it to the 1299S gas tank ? I'm concerned with losing the camera what type a suction mount the go pro hero 4 camera? Should I use the 1 leg big suction cup or 3 leg suction cup or mount the camera on top of my helmet I want to hear the bike shutting down in my video, and I want to show myself stuck in stop n go traffic on the freeway or the bike shutting down on the street as I slow down to make a turn or come to a stop. Or mount camera or under my chin mount? Or on top of helmet mount. I want to see the road speed displayed on the dash to verify the bike stops when I drive 0-15 mph. I want to show the lights going off when the bike shuts down at night when I drive at night. I want to show me pushing the start button and going into neutral gear to restart the bike in the video. What I should I use and what can I use in case the suction loses its grip to keep the camera from damaging the motorcycle and the camera in case it falls thanks advance for everything. The dealer said prove the 1299s is stalling out with video verification because they claim everything is checking out A ok on the computer test sheet with Ducati engineers and Ducati video tape that they won't show me What would you do? Thanks in advance for everything. I have adobe creative suite I don't know how to use it for editing any suggestions?
Any updates on this? Still holding strong?
No idea mate, nobody giving us answer.
Kevin, Have you ever removed Sugru well after it has cured?
No I haven’t.
Just gave it a shot with a GoPro Hero 9 Black edition on a Arai Corsair X, just waiting on it to cure!
Hello!, i "fixed that thing" almost by the sane way ... But now i need to check it each trip i do!, you know, just to be sure that camera is still there XD
Great video on the sugru! Can you please tell me the name of the actual GoPro Mount? I want to do the same setup
+Christopher R. It is one of the stick on mounts that come with the GoPro.
nice
What about a modulate helmet?
why did you go from a Shoei GT to an IS17? Isn't that a massive downgrade?
Hi MCrider. Stumbled on your RUclips video. So, did the Sugru hold up after years of use? Any long term observations? Thanks.
I never had a problem with it but don’t use that helmet anymore
Mororads do a really neat mount that will fit that tiny space that you have on your helmet.
👍. I wish I saw this last week 😖.
I have the same helmet... I mounted my camera in the same spot... let's just say a drill was involved.. 😖...
Dock Station hahahaha
I'm going to do this mod as well, but are you using a 'j-hook' for your camera mount? I don't think my original will bend that far, only 90 degrees I think..
I think it is called a j hook. It gets the camera out from the helmet just a bit and allows more rotation.
Thanks! I'll have one ordered immediately :)
Hi great video is the SUGRU still holding
+hamitup Yep, still holding strong. It's good stuff.
What Gopro Session do you have? The hero5 or Session.
+It's The Dingo Session 5
what happens when you take it off ? or when u want to redo it?
+Stergios B sugru.com/getting-started/how-to-remove-sugru-4910
How did you connect your Sena to the GoPro for audio?
+Jimmy Dubz I do all my audio at home on the computer.
what mount did you use for the gopro session. Does it come with the camera
Yes it does
If it doesn’t come with yours like it didn’t with mine all GoPro parts and even custom parts are available on amazon for stupid cheap
i did this but the camera points 2 low,,any ideas
You should be able to adjust the mount.
Looks great. I hope that mount doesn’t break. Also, id be concerned in an accident.
can you remove it?
