- This week, we’re bringing you the latest video from a series that we call Home Coffee Brewing with April. We’re back in Copenhagen, meeting with Shujue before setting back off on our travels.
We believe that innovation in coffee brewing starts at home, and that some of the most special and meaningful interactions with coffee can take place within your own kitchen.
As we are frequently travelling visiting our international partners, we decided to introduce this format as a way to interact with you on a different level whilst maintaining the frequency of our videos.
In this video, Shujue is brewing a Gesha from the Elida farm in Panama, roasted by Monogram. She uses an April Plastic Brewer, paired with April Paper Filters, and brews directly into an April Ceramic Cup. Shujue grinds her coffee with a Comandante Hand Grinder, and weighs her dose and brew weight using a scale from Cafede Kona. She uses a bottled filtered water, and heats this using a Fellow Electric Pouring Kettle.

I really enjoyed Patrik’s input on this one.
It would be great to see more advice on adapting recipes based on roast degree, processing, varietal, etc.
A methodical approach on when you’d adjust pouring height (agitation), temp, grind size, pouring structure and so on.
Thank you for watching. We will keep that in mind for the future. Thank you for the input.
Very exciting video. Would you always recommend adjusting the brewing recipe instead of grinding finer? Because that's been my method up to now and that's why I'm taking a completely new impression to improve brewing. Maybe you could make a separate video about it. I would find it very exciting.
Thank you for watching. Yeah, absolutely. Keeping that grind size coarser will improve the taste quality.
Big fan of Monogram Coffee here!
Thank you for watching. That's great to hear. Where do you think we should go in Canada for Home Brewing videos?
@@coffeewithapril I wish I could say, but I don't really know Canada well at all! Monogram's reputation (like April's!) spreads far beyond country borders!
Nice to see one of my local roasters featured 👍👍
Thank you for watching. Any recommendation on other roasters to check out in Canada?
@@coffeewithapril A few favourites here in Quebec are Zab, Traffic, Structure, and Rabbit hole.
Shout out Canada 🍁 🍁
Thank you for watching. What is the latest in the coffee scene in Canada?
