Brings tears to my eyes when I hear Randy play. No other guitarist's sound has this effect on me. His playing with Ozzy and the material he wrote caused a seismic wave in the music world which is still circumnavigating the globe four decades later! Dear Randy, words cannot express how much you are missed.
Tonight always does that to me... His playing was glorious, almost miraculous at times. Probably the most musical of the guitar legends ever. His composition was unequaled and he worked hard at it...
Randy Rhoads music and playing was just majestic. There are many awesome guitar players, and awesome riffs out there, but his stuff, this album especially, does something to me. I especially love how this album progresses, they open with Over the mountain and give you the idea what kind of a ride you are about to embark upon. Flying High Again is like "oh btw we can do catchy radio 80's tune as well". You Can't Kill Rock & Roll is where Randy starts soaring Believer is the where the true masterpiece riffs that Randy wrote begins, and it all ends with Diary Of A Madman, epic epic song. RIP Randy
Diary of a Madman and Blizzard of Oz of course are his best, love them both equally. I also have a soft spot for Bark at the Moon album. First album i ever got from Ozzy was Diary of a Madman and the first song i heard from him was Little Dolls off it. I was instantly hooked with that first drum beat. After that, i found out about Sabbath.
One of my all-time favorites. Legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads was amazing on those first two albums, and his loss in a 1982 plane crash left us wondering how "great" he could have been. Thanks for taking the time to listen and appreciate this early Ozzy classic!
Anything off of "Blizzard of Oz" or Diary of a Madman" is amazing! Randy Rhoads was the guitarist on those albums and he is easily one of the best guitarists of all time.
Randy Rhoads is by far the greatest guitarist Ozzy ever had. The first 2 solo albums were pure magic! I sometimes dream about what could have been. A 3rd album by Randy would have been incredible. Sadly we will never know...... R.I.P Randy.......
I was 15 when Blizzard of Oz was released. I LOVED IT and have loved Ozzy ever since. I was at Ozzfest 2000, 2001 and 2002. I'm turning 55 in August and still listen to both Ozzy and Black Sabbath. RIP Randy Rhoads
Randy had the smoothest technique and the best tone. As a guitarist I listen to Ozzy in order to hear Randy. Ozzy is a rock icon. He will be referred to decades from now, but not all of his solo work is worthwhile. He tends to be dependent on his relationship and imagination of his lead guitarist. Ozzy loved Randy and you could tell. After he died, Ozzy never quite fully recovered
@@jamesb6402 i truly hoped "another randy" was out there ...i listened to everybody and anything that came along after he died, and it simply just never happened...i stopped listening to all that stuff from 25-30 years ago...except the 2 Randy/Ozzy records. I listen to them about everyday still. like they were just released. Timeless, astonishing recordings.
Imagine hearing this at the age of fifteen, the day it was released. Damn... luckily, I don't have to imagine, I just have to remember. I would have loved to have seen Randy in concert. We only got two studio albums with Ozzy, Randy, and the underappreciated, Lee Kirslake and Bob Daisley. Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. These two treasures contain all killers... no fillers. You don't have to react to them all, but you should definitely listen to them all. Peace!

Awesome! My favorite Ozzy tune. I was fortunate enough to be able to see Randy Rhoads 2 months before he died, and they opened the show with this song.
Randy was great for a lot of reasons but I always liked how even if you didn’t hear the beginning of the song or any of the lyrics you could tell the name of the song a lot of the time just by hearing the solo that how unique he was they were like songs inside of songs RIP RANDY RHOADS
You are liking the older stuff because of the amazing Randy Rhoads and his guitar work. He was lost in a plane crash in1982 when he was only 25 years old. I'm not at all embarrassed to say I cried that day.
Thanks for doing the reaction to Over The Mountain. This was my introduction to Heavy Metal in 1981. I was coming from big band jazz, classical music, show tunes, with the likes of Glenn Miller and the Tijuana Brass via what we now know as Classic Rock with the likes of Styx and the Eagles. I was writing lyrics when a couple friends asked if I could write lyrics for their band, but they said I needed to listen to the type of music they did. They said something about writing a song about slaughtered ******. And I said, sure. I could do that. So I went over to one friends house to listen. The first track they played was Over the Mountain. It was like I had never heard music before. Randy Rhoads was the best match as a guitarist for Ozzy. After Ozzy it was on to Black Sabbath Mob Rules track 1 side A - Turn Up The Night with Ronnie James Dio. That whole night was a school. A second night happened in the summer around August. Changed my whole life. Yeah. I wrote the song Slaughtered ****** and used a Biblical and historical context including the story of Moses. The band broke up before we could work on the music. 😭 But I was still introduced to the most dynamic music made. 😁
❤ Randy Rhoads with Ozzy you can't go wrong with those two. I ❤ Randy he is still my favorite guitarist of all time. RIP RANDY. Please react to more of this album. ❤
Ozzy was awesome! One of the things I think that contributed to his long term success was the fact that about every 2-3 albums he had a different Lead Guitarist and they all had a unique sound and style of their own from the flurry of blistering note at light speed from Randy, to Zak's in your face shedding to Jake E Lee's off key tune of his Ax that he uses and his mix of many techniques from various Guitar Legends.
His first two solo efforts were his best. I would have to say "Revelation (Mother earth) off of Blizzard of Oz and "Diary of a Madman" Off of Diary of a Madman are true masterpieces. Randy Rhodes ( guitarist) was the magic behind both albums.
