This, to me, is the single biggest question mark with this game. If they somehow find a way to nail the endgame and develop a really cool loop of events and activities that keep us wanting to stay in the game, there's a chance Suicide Squad sticks for the long haul. Either that or it becomes another causality of the live service trend. Eager to see how it works.
A recommendation if you will, you should do a comprehensive comparison video on this versus dc universe online. The games been around since ps3, all the way through ps4 an is currently running on ps5. The games clearly profitable, an healthy, seeing 👀 as it gets dlcs, map expansions, new power types, an overall story progression on the regular. Meaning every 2 to 3 months.. All while having seasonal events an regular log in events as well for all players. Question is: will this game be that games successor? Can it actually do what dc universe online has done for over the last 14 years an counting? And the comparisons alone between the 2 of them is something worth taking a good look at as well. Cause dc universe online offers alot overall. The games huge. So much to do. Any who, just a thought. I have t seen anyone do this yet. An dc universe online dors need a true successor at some point 👉. But I still wonder if this will be thr game that is actually capable of doing so. 🤔 An if so, then odds are, to rrally stay in the now with live service gaming in general, suicide squad will have to go free to play at some point 👉..it's inevitable.. Hope that helps put some good stuff to think about going forward. Have good day bud
I think dc is looking, hunting, on the prowl for a dc universe online live service type game successor. An I believe they have been for a little while now. I also believe that at one point gothem knights was gonna do just that during production, until word got out about that. An now there's this game. Dc ain't stupid they know that looters shooters an live service games go hand in hand. An they already got a good formula for the rest, story, characters, character progression an gameplay an in game event stuff. I think suicide squad has a very good chance of being the next mainline dc online live service game for the next 14 years like the game that came before it has been. Rocksteady is a good solid company to pare it with going forward. 👌 Only question is, we'll 2 really, is how will the playerbase perceive it at launch an after that as it gets updates and juat how long will it be till it go's free to play. Honestly the longer it go's without before becoming free to play the better. Cuae that means the game is extra healthy, making alotta dough. It will go free to play at one point though. Dc knows that too, In turn, given enough time, will turn yet another profit 📈 rise that will carry them for a very long time to come. Good times to be had for sure.
DCUO’s longevity is certainly worth praise and examination. Suicide Squad will need to do a lot to manage that kind of success long term, especially when it comes to delivering sizable updates and things to do to keep players active. How much DCUO’s success has to do with player customization and the freedom to make your own DC hero, something Suicide Squad really doesn’t have, is hard to quantify. But it’s certainly a big part of it.
@TheOrderofDylan don't forget the in depth pvp optoins in the game as well. Iv never seen or a played a pvp system like dcuo has. An iv tried alot of various games over the years too. Between being able to flip the entire map from pve to pvp at any time all while continuing to do just about any pve activity while doing so, an choosing to pvp if desired, to the over top creative ways one can get with their build while piping, fron the various side kicks, to the different mods to the skills themselves an how they all interact to even hoe the movement alone plays into it, its very deep to say the least. An im not trying to praise it for glory sake, im just saying what they achieved in that is something iv yet to fully experience else where. If dc an rocksteady could just land that much right in this game, then that's half the battle done with. They've already got thr layout an mods an skills layer out in a good way. Throw in the a very similar dcuo pvp system an let thr updates for events an seasons an seasonal stuff come as their dropped when they can at first, till they can really get the ball rolling. I definitely see your points. Dcuo is a hard game to live up too. Atleast the ground work is a solid foundation for that possibility with this game. Like I said before, it really just depends on launch reception an continued playerbase afterwards, an just how they move forward. The balls literally in their court. Will see how they do. An if there ready to handle years of overtime to reach the end goal. Hoping things just get better an better 🙏. An prepared for thr worst if they don't with my south park pre-order for March. Have a great day bub
The best thing it could do is not be stingy with loot, that's what drove me off of Avengers was I can do a one hour plus end game activity and only get one item
I keep arguing that people need to look at the Borderlands franchise (specifically BL2) to see how you support a looter shooter and leave it in a state that is infinitely replayable. BL2 which is still the king of looter shooters (imo) was released in 2012, that game had a high level cap a launch (50 I believe), badass ranks to keep leveling after, difficulty level progression that added tougher enemies new tiers of gear, and that was just at launch. Now after launch players got, 2 new characters with their own skill trees/playstyles, 2 level unlocks that increased the level caps and allowed weapons drop at higher levels (up to 72-80 i believe), 4 huge DLC expansions (with their own zones, monsters, bosses, loot, cosmetics,..etc), tons of end game raid bosses, and tons of minor seasonal DLCs. Even after support ended for BL2 there was so much content (some argue too much) that you could play the game in so many different ways. Now literally 12 YEARS later the game still has a 2k+ average playerbase on steam alone (BL3 is at +5k average), while other "live service games" could barely keep that 1 month after launch. So my question is why do looter shooter fans keep looking to "live service games" for longevity when arguably the best of the genre got it right 12 years ago? There has been no game in the genre to even come close to the BL franchise in terms of support, content, replablility,..etc. If suicide squad released content rich like BL2 (which it does look pretty stacked with content) and drip fed DLCs, events, characters, gear, level cap unlocks,..etc, I believe people would eat it up, but instead people still want to stick to this online only "live service" trend that almost has an nonredeemable reputation with the common gamer. This game looks really fun but they are literally shooting themselves in the foot for simply keeping the "live service" marketing along with the MTX/battlepass crap in a full priced game. I want this game to be good because its the only recent AAA looter shooter that has me even remotely interested, but knowing WB they would not let this game release without the live service, MTX, battlepass stuff brute forced into the game.
Wow all that ^^^^^ an not a single mention of dc universe online, which has been around for over 14 years now, gets dlcs, map expansions, new characters an power types, an overall story progression on the regular. All while having year round seasonal events an log in events. The games clearly in a healthy an profitable 📈 state, an has been since ps3. . . Dc already knows how to retain a good playerbase, that much is clear. The real question is will this game, cam this game, be that games successor.. Cause dc universe online does need a true successor at some point 👉 anyway. But can this game actually be an do just that. Time will tell I guess. An if so, then that just means this game will go free to play as well, it's inevitable. An I believe that's what dc is looking for, a new live service game to replace an update the old, in terms of game engine, design an overall flexibility with what they are able to do with a game itself..
@@Splatz007 DCUO is NOT a looter shooter it is an MMO, so they are not even comparable imo. You may be right regarding the super hero mmo space for a games longevity, but SSKTJL has much more in common with a borderlands game then any MMO ,which is why I made that comparison. The closest thing this game has with DCUO is that its based in the DC universe, everything else pure looter shooter systems/mechanics.
@christophersanders7877 live service is live service. An im imost certain dc is currently scouting for a true successor to dc universe online.. How we build characters, the progression system is similar enough from what I can tell. An the characters themselves are the same. Then theirs the story as well. I also believe that at one point ☝️ during production, gothem knights was planned at a attempt to replace dc universe online as well. Dc is hunting for a new successor to its long time running money maker. An imo suicide squad is definitely a possible contender to do just that, in their eyes. But I see yout points too..
@@Splatz007 You completely missed the point of my original post. I was not using Borderlands as a "champion" of a live service model, I was doing the opposite. I was using Borderlands to prove that LOOTER SHOOTERS don't need live service models to keep an active player base, and to have tons of content with longevity. Your talking about good examples of live service models, while I'm talking about beloved games with huge player bases that stuck with the gamers WITHOUT live service models.
So many question marks.. gameplay looks fun but will it stay fun after the story ends? Are there enough activities or varied enemies to keep it fresh, 20 to 40 to 100 hours later? Are various builds viable or even possible in the game, especially since everyone has access to mostly the same weapons/legendaries and the skill trees are passive stat boosts only? How often will seasonal content come, and will there be a reason to keep coming back if you clear the content once?

Squad talents low-key sound like mayhem levels/badass ranks with extra steps
100%. More than likely basic buffs like "firearm damage", "grenade damage", etc.
The best thing it could do is not be stingy with loot, that's what drove me off of Avengers was I can do a one hour plus end game activity and only get one item
100%. People want to feel like their time is being rewarded sufficiently.
Hmm sounds quite promising 👀 hopefully there’s enough variety of things to do as well
But if the gameplay loop is weak your end game systems are irrelevant.
Lets goo, dylan uploaded! Looking forward to all the content planned for suicide squad!
