      simple, it doesn't. ppl who are interested in maths find this interesting and all, but most ppl here are learning this for exams which test ur "knowledge"

    Thanks for great videos. But how do you add two vectors with x and y elements that don't originate from the origin. Any clarification would be gratefully appreciated.

    Great video! Do a+b and a-b have the same lenght?

    • @mjausome
      @mjausome 9 лет назад +4

      +Leo Rosemann No. You can calculate length using Pythagora's Theorem which gives the length of a+b as sqrt(5^2+2^2)=sqrt(25+4)=sqrt(29) and the length of a-b as sqrt(1^2+(-4)^2)=sqrt(1+16)=sqrt(17).
      You can also think about the vectors a=(2,0) and b=(1,0). Adding them would give a+b=(3,0), subtracting them would give a-b=(1,0). Clearly not the same length!

    sal, you made it easy by giving Cartesian coordinates instead of polar coordinates, but I guess this is neither a trigonometry lesson nor a physics lesson

    but how do you know which vector to move, like what if i had b+a and b-a does that mean that i will be moving a instead of b?

    Why aren't brackets being used? I don't think I've ever seen parentheses ever used for vectors, since they universally denote ordered pairs/points.
