    and those “temporary” classrooms never leave

      At my elementary school they eventually did. They were replaced by a new building.

    • @mklamklamkla
      @mklamklamkla 2 года назад +3

      @@KingSNAFU The problem in Australia is there is rarely any room to build new buildings so new primary schools (or elementary schools in the US) are only really built when new areas pop up (which then has temporary classrooms of its own as the predicted capacity required changes from the design phase to the building being complete). I've only seen high schools get rid of temp classrooms but that's because they build multi-storey buildings and generally have a bigger campus.

      In my home town they had to close the school because of a mold infestation and made a temporary school next to the graveyard...
      Given most Norwegian schools in my part of the country were built at the same time, they almost all have the same mold infestation. Children would get sick so the government would reduce sick days available as a punishment and not even allowed to travel outside breaks and holidays... Then some cult/group of adults borrowed a school for their lectures during one summer. And they got sick too, just like the children... So then they started to investigate, and one building was completely green inside the walls... And now they are demolishing or cleaning schools everywhere with replacements popping up all sorts of places... And yet... They haven't apologised to the children for not believing them or removed the restrictions...

    • @anthonyharris2359
      @anthonyharris2359 2 года назад +3

      My whole school in the UK used to be “temporary” except it had been open since the 80s and I was there in the 00s - I prefer to call these sorts of classrooms/schools “indefinitely temporary”. (The school has since been replaced by a new building)

    59:58 Those building are red because there is not enough available parking for it. You could build more parking spaces to fix it or just ignore it. But I think this is because of the "smart Parking" option in Traffic Manager.

    Having a railway museum nowhere near a railway could be as if there USED to be railway down to the waterfront.
    Just like the railway museum the other side of the Dam in Sedona. Perhaps a railway line used to cross the dam, not the road.

    • @melissaivy9
      @melissaivy9 2 года назад +6

      Yes! Came to comment the same thing. There is a railway museum on the waterfront in my city Kingston Ontario Canada. It used to be where the train tracks were back when Kingston was the capital of Canada.

    I think it’s cool to have a railway museum by the water. Cause there could have a been an old bridge there, or something, and they compare it to the new one that will be there.
    You could even put in an old bridge across the water near there that isn’t connected up
    (Where I live there’s an old railway bridge that was converted into this really long pathway, so maybe make that go to that island in the middle, so the only access is a really old railroad)

    Where in winnipeg(canada), we have an old station & a couple old trains repurpoused into stores, because the trade routes were on / by the river, so it isnt odd to have a transport museum on the water!. There was also one in glasgow,scotland, which was originally on the waterfront then moved because of the commonwealth games, but it was moved to ALSO be on the water! So it isn’t abnormal

  • @Victoria_KB

    I love the way Hawthorne District looks, it's so nicely thought-out. The waterfront looks amazing - it's s shame that the Ferris wheel you picked up the other episode was so big, because it would have really fit in with that little market area.
    I think the idea for the hilltop and the forest behind becoming a national park makes perfect sense; you could put in those tiny nature reserve paths so we can see them peaking through the trees, as thought they're real trails.
    Loving this series so far, can't wait to see where this city will take us.

  • @nonterrificteri7822

  • @2CraftySeniors
    @2CraftySeniors 2 года назад +6

    Nice looking foothills! You could put a small lake at the top of the hill and have the water flow down to that little creek thing.
    Having a crematorium next to or near a cemetery (or even part of one) isn't unusual (at least not here). It allows the funeral homes to offer more services in one area.
    I've seen a few railway museums that aren't near the rails any longer... because the rails were moved over the years and the building was left. I've also seen those old railway stations used as office buildings, restaurants, and other commercial places. There was even one that had been turned into the library. So, your railway museum is fine down by the water.

  • @anthony3032

    You can use the round about tool to set up the rules. With traffic manager I believe. Just click on the street name
    Oh and according to reddit : The traffic info view can assist you in building the right amount of parking lots/garages. It shows where additional parking spaces are required (buildings with high parking space demand are highlighted with red color).

    Hey James, download the Advanced Building Level Control mod so you can downgrade the townhouses. Some of the townhouses are already at level 5 so downgrade them to match the other townhouses (probably level 3 or 4).

    In terms of the Railway museum, if you go with the helicopter pad being a former pier there very well could have been a rail near the water to service it in the past. Regardless I think it looks looks great as is, the combo of the Railway and Boat museums as well as the helicopters gives me educational tourism vibes, like the kind of place you take kids for a school excursion.

    Leave the railway museum where it is. Half of the railway museums and old converted train antique train stations are nowhere near the current train lines. My dentist's office is an old train station, and the line was removed because otherwise it would have gone right through town. They turned it into long park surrounded trail, and you can ride bikes over the old railway tresses.

In one of your last cities you end up needing a crap load of room so you could complete the uni and get it to 5 stars, I’m not sure if that’s what you wanna do w this city but just a reminder that the space you saved for the uni may definitely need to be bigger, otherwise absolutely loving this series 💜

    For the houses complaining about land value, download the RICO Revisted Mod. You can basically replace it with the prop the growable cause it is integrated into RICO Revisited. You can change the building by clicking the RICO settings to be a lower-level building, then they won't complain about land value as they are a lower level building you should only have to do it for one building then all those types of buildings will be set. You can still have the challenge in the game.

    Land value is not just parks! Residents also need a full range of City Services (Health, Fire, Police, Garbage, Public Transport etc.) And it also depends on what your Tax Rate is set at - Residents (or shop owners) don't like paying high taxes (i.e. anything over 11%) Unless there is a FULL compliment of Services plus Parks/Recreation/Entertainment.

    Any chance of a complete asset list? You've got a bunch of cool Aus-style houses/buildings that I haven't managed to find yet and I'd love to be able to go through them.

    Loving the city. You do realise there are lamp posts in the turning circle at the elementary school. apologies if you removed them and I missed it.

    Hey I been loving this series it has given me a lot of ideas and inspiration. I have a question about the Vanilla PS4 edition. Do you or anyone know how to turn off the snap-to's for the water pipes? I want to make freeform pipes.
