    Your explanation is clearly agreeable to me. First all, I feel fortunate for the P6 students who are taking Math PSLE exam that day. I am glad no one was late that day. I am so proud of SMRT Team’s efforts in handling the situation well for P6 students, commuters and people traveling to work. Overall, it was a detailed explanation! I appreciate it! 👍

    This line is probably the most problematic MRT Line recently. The stations like Serangoon and Bishan are ‘hell’ mostly the peak hours as if they are the SG ‘main’ stations and also the focal point of the line. The stretch between Esplanade and Promenade are also a nightmare to travel due to the loud curves especially towards Dhoby Ghaut.I’m hoping the C851E will debut as soon as possible although they are mainly for Stage 6, but they can help to ease the ‘wars of crowd’ situation during peak hours and reduce waiting times for the line

    • @chocolatechips878
      @chocolatechips878 Год назад +5

      The biggest mistake and problem is that the Circle Line is seriously under-provisioned with only 3 carriage trains. Once you under-provisioned an MRT line there is nothing much can be done to minimize overcrowding even if the frequency is good. One good example is the NEL, despite being a high capacity line it still struggles to handle the crowd coming from Punggol Sengkang and Hougang even though the frequency is 2 minutes. Once a train is late the crowds build up very fast thus people at Kovan cannot board the Train.

    • @SGrailadventure2004
      @SGrailadventure2004 Год назад +1

      For the NEL, when the Punggol Digital District (another major developement in the North-East) and SIT Campus opens, Punggol Coast station will probably be heavily used as well simliar to Serangoon as more people lives in the region and good thing the NEL is six-car line

    • @chocolatechips878
      @chocolatechips878 Год назад +1

      @@SGrailadventure2004 NEL is still under-provisioned together with EWL even though they are considered as a high capacity line.

    4:25 I want to make it clear there are two reasons that Tuen Ma Line operates in this unique way. Tuen Ma Line is formed by the West Rail Line and Ma On Shan Line, and the section where trains head downwards on the right (Tuen Mun) while upwards on the left (Wu Kai Sha) is made to let passengers connect to East Rail Line toward Hung Hom (At that time). When the project to connect the two lines began, it was challenging to switch the direction of the Ma On Shan Line to what West Rail Line uses (Especially for connection), so they just kept the way they originally ran.
    So if the Tuen Ma Line isn't built in 2004, this is not going to happen

    There might be other disruptions on the NSL that you might be interested in:
    - Novena MRT closure due to smoke detected from the motor of an air handling unit in a room at the concourse level, affecting the afternoon and evening peak hour commute. The smoke had the pungent smell of burning rubber! Train service is unaffected but the trains will bypass the station instead.
    - 25 minutes delay due to a C151B, presumably 647/648, that experienced a train fault which made it unable to move on its own. Due to this, C151C 721/722 had to do a 12-car pull. 721/722 returned back to Bishan Depot after pulling 647/648 into Ang Mo Kio station Platform A, where 647/648 was parked until the end of train service hours on the NSL. Train service is unaffected, but all trains travelling Northbound had to be diverted to the middle platform in order to pick up or drop off commuters.

    I really love these videos, it cleary explains everything about the disruption. I'm not from Singapore and I don't know much about trains, so the explanation is quite confusing to me, especially becuase the pace of the video is quite fast. But I could sense you took a lot of time and effort for this video, and because it is ELEVEN minutes!
    Edit : I have a question. I take a bus that has a frequency of 12/15/20 minutes. Is that slow or fast for buses? It's emptier than other buses in non-rush hours but more crowded than other buses in rush hours.
    Now I also know why Hanoi's metro is so slow. Construction speed and funds isn't everything, they REALLY care about the safety as well. I don't think a singular disruption happened in it's 2 year history. There's also only one line, so managing the system is easier.

    As an American, I thought this was something crazy. But I am relieved it was only just a fault with the tracks and the worst thing that happened was a 30 minute inconvenience. I feel something like this is an everyday thing in most transit systems in America. But I can see how what may not be a big deal in the US could be considered one elsewhere in the world.

    IMO LTA should provide better temporary signage, overlaying some of the permanent signage. I bet this will not be the last time this will happen, the paper notice signage are quite inadequate in this case especially when the platform is literally overflowing... and the platform usage is swapped...
    IMO they can just use a standard disruption yellow background with the final destination ( it would simpler if there's replacement signage based on the TEL standard, just overlay that since that standard also has a "viewpoint" signage from the escalator...
    eg. : [Yellow temp Signage] (Disruption station shield and name pastie ) [/Yellow temp Signage]
