      Brandon Renfro you should not have any problems fitting in this big truck. If it was a Honda Civic review then I think it’s imperative. But not for a huge truck. Think about it.

    A lot of people forget just how many pickup drivers never go off road and will never get their bed truly dirty. Like ever. They will never leave the highway and will never even be close to the payload limit. They will do a Home Depot trip once a year to get a Christmas tree. They will never tow since they live in big cities. These examples are absolutely everywhere in the urban setting. All I am saying is that the V4 or a Ridgeline is basically more than enough for way too many working class people. F150/Silverado is an overkill for gas cost, insurance cost, workload needs etc. Also, we all know that doctor that has a Denali Pickup and will never even open the bed cover. Honestly, do we all know that One guy? Not hating, sorry, if that is what YOU want (F150, Silverado, dodge etc) then Buy what makes YOU happy. I drive a Camaro for crying out loud so I didn’t buy it for “practicality”
    Btw I work in a very large construction firm in NYC and all the trucks that we have only carry hand held tools and materials. All of them are redundant and an overkill for the needs of building skyscrapers. Big F250 that are bouncy as hell and uncomfortable. Then the Ridgeline guy comes to do plumbing, has a couple pipes in the back and welding equipment, and it feels like in an Uber SUV. Heavy equipment comes with the cranes/16 wheelers/concrete trucks. Parking sucks. Get what makes sense to YOU not what you think is the “standard” for a “truck” (like = “If it ain’t V8 AWD then it ain’t a truck”)
    Great review Alex!

      Kromer0 well, my f150 0-60 is 6-7 sec. 20mpg mixed. It's bigger, powerful than Ridgeline/forester or other suv. Price is about same because Honda and Toyota never have discount like ford does, which is why their resale value are higher. Some people enjoy their small car, me enjoy big truck and sitting high. Btw, Truck is like ur wallet, u r not gonna spend all ur money, but you better have something in there.

      I am a real estate agent who will be getting a ram 1500 probably sometime in the spring. Why would a guy who just shows homes get a truck? Open house signs, for sale signs, staging equipment, as well as true 4x4 so that way I can actually make it to all the houses regardless of the weather (I do live in a relatively messy area). There are a few times I got stuck because of dirt roads one day being mud roads the next. Do I need a pickup specifically, no, I could get by with a Durango or something of the like, but the 1500 is just so damn nice its like whats the point in not getting it. I'd never use that third row anyways and rambox+the bed is just pretty unparalleled in practical storage.

      Crap. I worked in construction with one guy. He was an electrician and he wanted to include installation works. I was after cancer and looking for a job so he took me to work with him, though I am weak human. He had 2009 Silverado with a bed FULL, I mean FULL of electrical equipment. It was practically ''murdered'' by payloads it had to carry everyday... And plus all the plumbing stuff he had to add. It was tough but good times. Unfortunately, three years ago he had glioblastoma and died in spite of doctors' efforts... Maaaan, only 43.

    It's worth mentioning that, in the LTZ and High Country, the upper (top of) dashboard is also soft touch. Front seats are heated/cooled with heated rear seats in those trims. They do also make some of the knobs and accents higher quality in the upper-end trims, but overall, similar interior. Just worth noting since you're in the mid-range RST trim.

    Your discussion of the aluminum bed in the Ford accurately described its durability drawbacks, but didn't mention its big advantage in road salt country: It will not rust. Same with the Ford's cab. This isn't terribly relevant in the California market where our wonderful host lives, but it does matter in the Midwest, Northeast, and Canada.

    I just watched most of the reviews of the American pickup trucks. At either the 2016 or 2017 auto show in Harrisburg Pennsylvania I sat in the old Ram. It must of been a base model. I loved the bold exterior look but it was so dog gone cheap on the outside. You showed a 2014/15 model in another video in a higher trim and boy that was very nice. My Dad and I have a friend who has an absolutely gorgeous 2014 Ford F150 King Ranch style and even that for almost being five years old rides like a luxury truck in dark blue. Now I say though I saw the review of the new one in 2015 and one thing I like about that model even though I have not rode in one and that is the front headlamps look so bold like the superduty. The tail lights to a point remind me of a newer version of the older early 1990s taillights like my Grandpa use to have. My Grandpa has now currently a 2015 Chevy Silverardo LT 1500 in true blue. That rides smooth too. I don't understand one thing and that is why since 2007 why do the Chevy Silverardos look so similar on the outside especially the headlights especially in the redesign 2014 and even a little bit in this new model for 2019? Also I just saw the interior of this new one here and it looks the same. That is very disappointing. Another thing on the outside of this new model is that this Silverado looks like a Colorado. I love the new Ram that you showed in that video. Finally for now I will disagree with you on that the F150 does not look old. It still looks futuristic. I am more of a Honda guy but I do like pickup trucks these days more than I use to because of quality and luxury.

    I think GM made a big mistake not offering the tailgate that the GMC has. I say this as someone who has worked alot differant construction jobs. I rarely see a gmc work truck.I see way more Chevys working. GMC trucks have always been more of a luxury type vehicle. Also they should not have withheld the 6.2 ltr engine from the trailboss. They should do more research. They would sell more trucks. Some people dont want to wait for a later date.

      DeCapito Family GM engineers some great vehicles, like the platform under the Camaro and ATS. But their interiors suck so badly, it’s not even funny. They STILL have the blue lighting and LED’s and “ding ding” alert from the 1980’s. Awful.

    • @OSTKCabal
      @OSTKCabal 6 лет назад +3

      GM has INCREDIBLE engineers, no doubt about it. The entire interior design and materials teams need to go, and GM really needs to learn that the bean counters can't be in charge. That same mentality led to bankruptcy 10 years ago.
      GM seems fine being dedicated to being middle of the pack with awful interiors and no real innovation. For example, at some point, somebody should have realized that the same old 8" touchscreen looks tiny when the truck is nearly 2" wider and the cab is longer. Somebody should have looked at the new Ram 1500 and realized that, at the upper end and especially once you get into the $60,000 MSRP range, people like more and better leather and tons of tech/features. Somebody should have realized that the 10-speed is a great transmission and should've been mated to as many engines as possible. Somebody should have realized that adaptive cruise control should've at least been optional given all of its competitors at least offer it. Somebody should've realized that the same old sunroof looks even smaller on a larger truck. Somebody should've realized that using the world's shittiest knobs, buttons, and switches on all trim levels of the truck is ridiculous when it's their top-grossing model. Uhhg.

    • @scottfurlong5475
      @scottfurlong5475 6 лет назад +2

      GM didn't do enough with this truck, it's a sea of poor fitting plastic and very much the same old truck under some new skin. They put together a WT truck, slapped some options on it and designate it as a higher trim level. Ram has by far the best interior, even in the work trucks. The drivetrain is a good effort but the interior and exterior styling people have to go.
      They would do good not letting this truck run 8 or 10 years without major revamping. The mid cycle refresh should be a completely new truck, done right this time.

    Great video is always lots of details and good comparisons.
    I do not understand why in the hell they decide to have so many different transmission options. What a nightmare on the assembly line. Just pick the 10-speed automatic and make it work with every engine and save yourself a bunch of hassle down the road. Having to maintain Parts Supply for three different transmissions in one truck just seems idiotic to me. All of the engines even the lower-power V6 would have benefited greatly from more gears..

    • @ALMX5DP
      @ALMX5DP 6 лет назад +1

      I have a feeling the 10-speed, being primarily developed by Ford, was restricted in it's implementation for GM (at least initially). I bet once any embargoes lapse, the 10 will become available to more of their lineup.

      Somebody mentioned that the 10 speed transmission is possibly Limited in volume because Ford has the right to most of the production right now. • @foxwithshades7080

    I do not understand why GM has 3 transmissions and why they did not replace AFM with DFM completely. If DFM is a better system why retain the AFM system. Also why not update the 4.3L with the 8spd. Why not give the 5.3L and 2.7L the 10spd.

    • @james2042

      @Jony Because they are asking too much from a small engine. Supercharged, turbocharged, doesn't matter. It will be under high stress all the time and even though GM says they have run the same tests as with the V8 engines, ultimately real life will prove otherwise. This engine will not be know as bulletproof.

    You know if they wouldn't lift these poser trucks so high, you wouldn't need the woman step in the bumper or the running boards. Hate how lifted this class of trucks have become. People who actually use the bed would appreciate not a ridiculous ride height for the Bro dozer crowd

      Yes, a truck tailgate should be counter/workbench height. And the stupid little corner bumper cutouts look ridiculous. It's called a "step" bumper for a reason, that huge step that's been in the center for decades.

    Dodge is the way to go, EcoBoost engines build up lots of carbon on the back of the intake valve and Ford has no procedure to deal with this, AFM engines never worked right if you Google for just a few minutes you will see thousands of angry Chevy owners. I have first-hand experience seeing problem after problem with the Ford and GM's and Nissans, Nissan's are by far the worst vehicles on the planet they used to be good in the 90s but after they were purchased by Renault Carlos ghosn proceeded to cheap them out. Toyotas are getting less reliable and they don't invest in new technologies, the motors and transmissions they have are so behind the times it's ridiculous, they are just counting on their good reputation to sell their lackluster vehicles.
