That point comparing the cost to water cooling was very interesting, I had not considered that! Obviously you don’t have the same flexibility in terms of supporting higher TDP hardware or overclocking as water cooling, but having no maintenance or concerns about leaks and. such … that right there might be sufficient reason to give this a go.
@@nicojar the whole point of this system is to be completely passive, this is something that even watercooled systems simply cannot accomplish, that's why you'd buy it. There are many use cases where a pc like this would be preferable to a water cooled one.
Best presentation on this silent-crazymounted-beast. Thanks for mentioning coil whine, was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this case! hahah 🤘⚡
That high pitch sound thing is real. I am 15 years old and I always hear a high pitch noise coming from the television while my parents don't. Searched it up and probably because my ear is more sensitive since I'm younger
Old TVs are the worst. When my father still had his old one it was unbearable, I couldnt even be in the same room when that thing was used. Really annoying too are the chargers for smartphones when your phone is fully charged already, this high pitched noise is unsettling.
I placed a pre-order for a case back in June of 2022. Nearly two & a half years later nothing has been delivered to me. It was originally supposed to ship in March of 2023. But there was always some excuse; whether it be waiting on parts, waiting on their partner company (2CRSI), etc. that would lead to a few months delay. Monsterlabo hasn't answered any of my emails since February of this year. Calyos 2.0.
Liquid metal Ali, liquid metal! As for video quality, shots and effects you're simply superb and a golden standard out there! I love how you get more subs, but you should be in 5 mil range, not 500k :D
Your video is my go-to, your voice and knowledge complement one another. I do keep coming back to the Sliger large ATX case for my next Blender-focused workstation build.
The quality of these videos are simply amazing for a channel that produces this much content!! From the editing to the photography to the content. Bravo 🙌
I remember finding u when u had like 80k subs or maybe even less and everyone was like "OMG UR VIDEOS ARE EXCELLENT WHY U NO HEV MOAR" now look at you, on the way to a mil, keep going man, this is easy for you.
I love that the build method symbolically gets across the idea that this build is about a crazy cool case/cooler with boards and such attached to it, rather than the other way around. I wonder if having a ceiling fan would help or hurt this. Likely more airflow, but it would be fighting the natural convection, and I don't know how optimized it is to natural convection.
I'm no engineer but I would like to point out that ceiling fans have switches to reverse air direction. And I suggest that stirring room air would *probably* increase convection effectiveness.
I owned MonsterLabo the first for 2 years now and enjoyed every bit of it. The quality of case is much much better than anything I have seen on the market. Avoid Silverstone NJ at all cost, they are designed to have coil whine and specific voltage output. I purchased a NJ520 and it always coil whine with 8 pins power plugged in, not even on load. Always go with sea sonic prime.
Considering that sub-1000 RPM quality fans are virtually silent, the biggest advantage of a totally fanless build seems to be a lack of dust accumulation. However, a fully passive build needs to have an open or vented top to allow heat to escape by convection, and that allows dust to settle in. So you may actually have less dust if you have intake fans with fine filters and positive pressure than if you have a fanless build. In other words, it doesn't seem to be worth it.
@@jondonnelly3 I disagree, on my NCase M1 dust accumulates around the top vent at a decent rate, but doesn't fall into the vent because of positive pressure from the intake fans. I have Demciflex filters on those fans spinning at 900 RPM and almost no dust makes it inside the case ever, after 2 years I did a full clean and there was almost nothing. Without the intake fans though, all of the dust that I clean off of the top vent of the case would fall into the case as well, that's a lot of dust over 1 year.
this is f*cking fantastic. my buddy has been dying for a passive/silent build, so this is right up his alley. he currently has a 5800x and a 3080 so he might have an issue w/this w/o messing with the settings i have a 5600x and a 3060ti so i could probably make it work
Cat owner, beware! That little space under the case(1:47) might be a good spot for your cat to sleep, if they scuffle enough, they may upturned the case and break the case. idk, just sayin' :]
Strange how most passively cooled PC videos I watch end with saying you are better off running some fans at low speed ;-) I personally don't mind not having the "best-of-the-best" and think something like a Ryzen 5 combined with a 3060 Ti (or maybe 3070) would suit the case better... Otherwise great video that definitely showcases the case very well !
Some zero rpm capable fans/bios settings would be best in slot for this case. Like for low-medium load - full passive, when exceding 80deg - fans start spinning.
waiting for a passively cooled case the design of the phantesk evolv shift or sviger and a rtx 3080 passive edition no tweaking needed and then we are finally there
I'm curious about the risk of the GPU plate being incompatible with future graphics cards, forcing you to forgo the passive GPU cooling or get a new case altogether.
As someone with sensitive hearing, I found these fanless builds to be pretty much pointless waste of money in the end because you end up making the PSU coil whine much more audible relatively. The only way to actually get rid of all noise is to put your PC in an closet as many people do with AV racks in movie rooms and just run a fiber optic video cable out. That way you don't have to spend so much insane effort reducing the PC to ambient noise level when you have no control over PSU coil whine.
I can't tell, but it would probably benefit them if they bent the fins to make venturis near the cores to allow for higher velocity airflow at the point of contact. It would transfer heat faster in one area, drop the temperature of the air and allow pressure to return to normal upon exit to mantain its quite engineering in mind. Maybe in a v2.
can you stop producing these bangers nobody can compete with you holy keep it up man you could talk about mouse wheels for 20min and make it interesting
Fantastic video, as always. Regarding the PSU thing, you really should give be quiet!'s premium power supplies a shot. Even though they've got fans, you will forget they exist once installed!
I think some people can tolerate this kind of PSU whine for a longer time than others. Because Virtually every healthy human ear is going to pick it up
Lack of being able to use a PCI-E card other than a single GPU is a deal killer here for me. Some of us need to use an additional card. Like a pro sound card. I think it's a missed opportunity to not even allow the use of a low profile card. But honestly being crowd funded is the real deal killer here, especially given the history of the people behind this.
i would love to see a m-atx case like that, where you could either stay passive with lowrange components, or be able to stick some "silent" fans and go for more powerfull configurations. i am fan (hehe) of the second configuration myself

Just buy the right parts for it and set an FPS limiter to about 250 to greatly reduce. A semi passive psu of 1600w might be better.

I believe that dust is unavoidable due to various factors such as surface tension and ions.
It would much longer for dust to affect this compared to fine mesh. It might need a blow out once a year.
