  • this is a video that My friends David Hildreth and Mike Barnes helped me with many years ago. But it takes you through the whole lifecycle of the caddisfly.

    Have you ever seen them hanging from a silk thread attached to a rock? It is just before they let go and "hatch" as they float in the surface film getting ready to fly.

    Does the caddisfly have to make the house as they move from larva stage to pupae stage?

      Yes, they make the case (not all of them make cases, though) and then close the open end when they are ready to pupate.
