So, is a long life for an insect. Those fascinating little animals are very important for the environment, because the chain feeding. And they're also living indicators of quality of the water, they are so delicate and a little amount of pollution is mortal for them.

I work as a boat painter on the Kennet and Avon canal, I started my business in May last year. I’m also born in May, it’s my favourite month naturally for this reason but also for the arrival of spring. It’s lovely being greeted by the Mayflies again this year, they’re so fleeting and it reminds me of how special it is to live in the moment. I get plenty of Mayflies on the boats when I’m working, and I’m extra cautious to try to make sure the ones that linger avoid the paint as I’m working. It’s unfortunate for some though but I try my best. ❤
