Nice to see another video! The figure looks like it would be fun to handle and pose. And the poses you shot look good. Overall, it does not seem like a centerpiece or statement collection piece, but it looks like Play Arts Kai is in striking distance if they tweaked a few things
They have definitely got Final Fantasy and DC down, and I really like the materials they use, as well as fit and finish. The Alien just seems like they were trying to do something hyper stylized, and it just sort of came out awkward.

such a beautiful figure. Too bad, like you mentioned, the face sculpt just doesn't cut it. it's been decades and still we are stuck with 1-2 figures with accurate big chap heads... still waiting..
With how popular the Big Chap is, it's really shocking that we only have one single true 1/6 scale figure (hot toys), and it's not that great. And for Big Chaps close to the scale of this one, Neca is really the only game in town. The quality control can be a little spotty, but if you get a good version, the Mafex no84 figure is really accurate ( and the newer figures seem a lot better quality control wise).
Interesting figure, I actually thought the face wasn't to bad, compared to the rear end. The last crouch down pose, was more like a mandrill😂 Great video.🤟
I have a PlayArts Kai Jungle Hunter figure in 1/9 scale and while it is far from movie acurate I do like it a lot. It's very bulky and looks like a bodybuilder Yautja, and I decided to just repaint it to make it look more unique, fitting to the more unique design of the figure. I checked for their other releases and saw this Colonial Marines figure and the front profile really scared me away, it looks like it's wearing an EVA helmet😅But like you said the rest of the figure looks pretty neat and maybe if you remove the dome, which just looks oversized, it could look pretty cool because it has a great amount of detail actually
I've seen the Predator figures and I really think that the hyper stylization suits that one (Or them as I think there are two, a jungle hunter and a samurai Predator). If they had gone the opposite way with the Alien's face, making it larger and more aggressive, I actually think the entire figure would've worked. It's just that the thing has big hands, big feet, and a tiny face, making it look a little cartoony. And you're right about the thing looking like an EVA, put a large spike protruding from the middle of the four head and give it white eyes and it really would look like a "berserk" Unit-01.
To be completely honest, I actually like their Warrior better than their Big Chap. That being said, don't pay any more than $60 for it. It is small, and not detailed enough to pay the huge markup some people think they are going to get for it.
Yeah, in that regard it really does look like the pumpkin head figure. But they do actually balance what is usually a top-heavy design rather well. In several shots I didn't even need to use the stand... But you're definitely going to hear that thing coming at you, not stealth feet by any means.
Googled Mezco one 12 bootleg yesterday, bc mine still hasn't arived yet and I saw some quite cheap offers and it showed your Review for it on second position without me beiing logged in at Google/YT - may be just the cookies and stuff but I thought It's great! Just wanted to say that now I'll watch the video😆
I was searching if a bootleg even exists yet, but seems like not the case. Because the figure I found is like 25€ cheaper than the average price normally.... Still the point was actually that google suggested your review video 😅
That is cool that I'm starting to show up in the suggested searches, I've noticed it as well. I was just shocked that there could be a bootleg of that particular figure, because it's sort of overengineered. I think the prices came down largely because of how many have fallen apart in the short time they have been out, I'm just keeping mine in the box and looking at periodically. It's a really cool figure, just a lot more delicate then a poseable item should be. But that is letting fans get both this one and the white one at bargain basement prices, so there's an upside.
I think the Spitter the best of the Play Arts Kai Aliens, as outlandish as the sculpt and concept might ultimately be.
