My husband’s sister 63yo is making our life miserable. We don’t live with her, but she is having intense delusions about us coming into her home, stealing things. She’s verbally explosive on the phone, I have blocked her but my husband keeps the “channel open” in case of a true emergency. Now in one of her tirades she has uttered three frightening words “the gun situation”. This has taken us to the next level. She tried to commit suicide a few weeks ago, but it was a half hearted attempt not slicing her wrists very deep. She showed up at our home right after being told not to make contact, and the police were called to escort her off the property. Here is the problem…we want to get word to her doctor that she is having delusions, but she is very guarded and we have no idea who he/she is. We totally understand HIPPA laws, but we do not WANT any info…we just want the doctor to know she is HAVING these delusions, so he can address this issue accordingly. I don’t know if the psych ward of the hospital where she was held after her suicide attempt can forward info to her doc or not. I guess I will reach out to that hospital and see if they can do this.

I strongly believe that long lasting stress or traumatic events or impact of certain microorganisms and chemicals cause delusions.

my dad had a psychotic break when i was around 5/6 years old and ever since then he hasn't been the same. i obviously dont want to push a self diagnosis on him because its an extremely severe disorder but i think he may suffer from delusional disorder.
he has had delusions everyday for around a decade now, they range from mildly unrealistic to downright impossible. im not gonna go too far into it but most of them involve him thinking he is a god (or at least part god) or that people are out to get him. these delusions come up in every conversation with him i have with him. i think his delusions fall under persecutory, grandiose and jealous.
he completely isolated himself from everyone, he accused my mum of cheating on him with no evidence. i believe his dad (my grandad) may have had it too, i dont remember him but from what ive heard he used heroin alot, and had delusions alot too.
my dad also smokes weed everyday, and has so since he was around 12. he went through alot of truma as a child but im not sure what that contributes to this.
anyways im not asking for a diagnosis or even a reply, im just kinda commenting this because i want him to get better. i dont see him ever going to a doctor or psychiatrist. he knows people think he is mental but he thinks they are all wrong.
its like im walking on eggshells around him and that he could snap at any second i just miss when he was normal lol

Before When I was a bit young , i look at people and think there powerful and if i did something its cringe or embarassing and thats how things started developing me with some paranoia anytime i showered ill force myself to bath properly or if i was doing anything by myself it feel like im watched by classmates from a big board in the performing room. I told my mom about this and she told me its not possible and encouraged me not to think that way. And ever since i havent thought that way but i still have some thoughts in my head that haunts me.

HOW DO PEOPLE WITH DELUSIONAL DISORDER GET ON DISABILITY OR GET HOSPITALIZED OR EVEN GET TREATMENT SINCE THIER DELUSIONS DISALOW THEM FROM ADMITTING TO BEING DELUSIONAL AND SO DO NOT ACCEPT TREATMENT??

My mother has delusional jealousy. I am learning this is possibly caused by Root Canal infections. There are 3 bacterias that are found in extracted root canals and she has all 3 according to the Organic Acid Test “OAT” I ordered on her. She has an appt with a holistic dentist in June to get a 3D cone CT scan to look for mouth infections. I will update when we know more. You can learn about this on youtube. There is a documentary called Root Cause that explains the dangers of root canals.

I have a delusion that I'm in the afterlife with my family and when I die I will remain in this family like a mirror image hence reincarnation. And I will be dead but alive like in a psychosis when I felt like I was dead but in the afterlife as well. Maybe I'm just mixing up because of my psychosis. I also have a delusion that my life is a dream. I love the movie Waking Life!

Very informative video. I also wanted to know if the maintainance will be for lifetime. after taking respiridone for almost a year my doctor stopped prescribing any antipsychotics and mood stabilizer because I didnt experience any delusions anymore. Its been almost three months and I think Im doing better. no delusions so far. I wanted to know if there are some studies that it will go away. My doctor said there are some cases that it goes away and some needs lifetime maintainance. I havent found a good read online about this. however I found one guy in the Delusional disorder group on facebook he claims his dad had 2 episodes 30 years ago. and he already stopped taking meds for 20+ years and no delusions so far. I wanted to know if this is really possible because im preparing myself for the side effects of taking drugs for the rest of my life. Im sorry if my English is bad. Im not a native speaker.

I had really heavy delusions for nine months. By a miracle I did get better. They still kept me on medicine. My cat knocked my medicine into an unreachable place, and my husband was at work and wasn't able to get more medication or else he would've lost his job. I don't have a driver's license. I ended up not taking medicine from that point on. It's been about five months for me and I'm absolutely nothing like how I was. We do want to have me go back to my previous doctor to see if there is anything else wrong with me, etc. But it looks like I'm doing well. I had complications, like a hormonal birth control, trauma, severe insomnia and marijuana that all exacerbated the issue and could've been potential "triggers".

I think I am having delusions. I have a crush on someone in my class who is gay, but we're not very close. When I found out he was gay, my feelings somehow vanished, and I focused on myself. However, recently, I learned that he drinks alcohol and smokes cigarettes. There was a time when he was drunk and messaged our class group chat. He's been struggling with his grades in physical education, and there's a possibility he might fail and have to change courses. He jokingly mentioned that he might not see his crush if he has to change courses because his crush is also our classmate. He gave a clue about who his crush is, and at first, I got excited because I thought it might be me. However, his clue doesn't match with me, and I have a hunch that his crush is a boy. But he mentioned in the group chat that he's not really gay and that he's like a chewing gum that sticks to different people. So, I thought maybe his crush is a girl, and I might have a chance. Now, I can't stop thinking about him. I keep telling myself that I'm not his crush and that his crush is a boy, but my mind keeps suggesting that he might like me. I can't help it, and I think I'm experiencing delusions. Every time we see each other in school, I always think he's glaring at me, copying me, and trying to be near me. I feel really bad about myself because it seems like my mind is creating things and making me believe they are true. It's alarming, and I don't know how to stop it.
Do you think I am experiencing delusions?
