THE STRAUSS DYNASTY shows the lives of Johann Strauss father and then his sons, the most famous of whom was Johann Strauss son, called Schani. The whole story is shown with the focus on family life of the Strauss and their career. Their music, the unforgettable waltzes, can be appreciated throughout.
Al my life I have been an admire of Johann Strauss Dynasty, I have seen this movie over and over and never get tired of watching it. The Waltzes and Marches are Wonderful so much to learn about The History of Music.

La vi con mi madre cuando era chica. Una joya está serie.
Tuve la fortuna de ver ésta serie en 2005 y la de Mozart cuando en el canal 34 si no me equivoco en México, pasaban muchas progamas culturales, entre ellos el Cirque Du Soleil "ALEGRIA" En esos meses yo había comenzado a tocar la guitarra y fué toda una revelación poder deleitar éstos programas. Gracias a éstos programas me incliné por estudiar música clásica y agradesco por ello.

Esta serie daba en la AE mundo o HBO olé en sus inicios tuve oportunidad de verlo eran los primeros años del 2000 y dio la serie en español desde me cautivó bastante su vida y más q todo su música del este genial compositor.

This evening I finished the series and found it incredibly interesting to see the lives of the family from the 1820's - 1890's. It can however be somewhat confusing for someone who isn't well read in the family. I recommend buying from amazon the book titled "The last waltz" by John Suchet before watching the series, otherwise you will be viewing this without an understanding of which year it is in each episode.

There is plenty of plain Hollywood in it and nothing of Vienna. It lacks that typical "Wiener Schmäh", a kind of Austrian nonchalance. Johann Strauss was at the very heart of it!

But there is something missing...there is a prelude to the series when little Johann takes the violin from the dead man in the tavern that is being attacked by bandits.
British cast, I suppose? The subtitles are in Spanish.
It is confusing that they put the actor's names at the beginning of episodes they don't actually appear. If I find which episode John is in I'll let you know - try episode 2 or 3, he has a small role, when Shani is grown up.

Where is John Gielgud's part in Episode 1? I seen his name in the credits,but have not seen him at all.
