It's driving me crazy. It's like this entire generation knows nothing but Marvel. When I was a kid growing up in the '90s, my dad made sure that I saw a ton of movies from the '40s all the way up, so I saw plenty of classic stuff. It boggles my mind that so many of these younger people have not seen movies from the '80s... Including bona fide classics like Indy. But I guess it's showing that the cultural touchstones that we are familiar with will eventually fade away.
I never realized how many people haven't even heard of Indiana Jones. I'm 28, so the trilogy was before my time, but I grew up watching those movies, they are so famous and were often advertised at blockbuster even when I was a kid. The movies are honestly great fun, they're not to be taken seriously, they're just really good action movies.
this game reminds me of Chronicles of Riddick, and not just because it's based off of a movie licence, but the gameplay elements and the way it's mixing genres too
If you wanna knock out people in Indiana Jones you have to charge up your punch and then release the trigger and then once you do that, the character will like stand up for a few seconds and fall down and be knocked out

Once Bethesda was one of my favorite publishers. It was the time when they dropped things like TES V: Skyrim + Add Ons, Wolfenstein Old Blood/New Order/New Colossus, Dishonored 1 + 2 (+DLC's) + Death of the Outsider, Prey, Doom 2016, and so on. Bethesda really had some fails after that and I lost faith with each one. I am so glad, that id Software and Machine Games hold the line.
I think between stuff like Hi Fi Rush (though sadly Tango Gameworks have been sold on to Krafton now) and this, they're beginning a return to forms. Seems like they were making acclaimed games, but really struggling for sales into the mid 2010s, and made a shift towards more MP stuff by grewnlighting Redfall, Youngblood and FO76, as an attempt to appeal more to a buyer. After the flops of Youngblood and Refall, I'd imagine MS are pivoting them back to what they were good at all along. Unique, well made single player games. If this is just the start, they may well just reclaim that favourite publisher status in my mind.

I have commented this before, but another reason I want this game to succeed, besides on it's merit, is that it used Id tech 7 as an engine, and if you ask me, looks every bit as good as Unreal 5.x with the added benefit of running well. Bring back competition in the game engine marketplace!

You might just be running out of vram, this game runs great on my 3060ti. I have everything maxed except vram heavy settings, like texture cache, shadows and water. Also path tracing may not be worth it, idk how that works on a 4080s

To be fair, that's completely in line with the storytelling in Indiana Jones, it's all about puzzles and adventure (and a little "archeology"). The logical details are unimportant.
They're known for more Sanboxy open world games, whereas Star Wars calls for a more linear story focused game. The later half of Outlaws where it's more linear and story focused were the parts of the game that were really good

As someone who played the Last Crusade NES game as well as Fate of Atlantis In the glory days of point and click adventure games, what they did here is pretty close to a dream Indiana Jones game.
