Lupe's wordplay is unrivalled, he's so good a layering several meanings into a single line. I could be listening to one of his songs for the 50th time and I'll catch something new I didn't notice before, or something that I did hear before but just realised it has another meaning. Definitely worth checking out more of his stuff.
Lupe is one of the greatest writers EVER. And I’m not talking just music... I mean just overall writing ability. He’s gone beyond masterclass writing and into the dark void.
Lupe's Tetsuo & Youth is an amazing listen and an underappreciated album. The whole album is a man's life story played out from the end to the beginning. Check it out of you ever get a chance MBD. If nothing else, check out Adoration of the Magi and Prisoner 1&2 both by Lupe.
Lupe is one of the best lyricists on the basis of complexity and storytelling. It's a shame that we don't hear this kind of music on radio. Songs like this is why I love hip hop music.
@@chillhomie7 There is only one god emcee and it is Rakim period. The whole point here is that Lupe DIDN'T "produce" a good deal of what has come out of him because much of it is derivative. A car with automatic windows and four wheel drive is a better overall product than an older model without them, but it took far greater genius to come up with the actual automobile than to add each of those additional features. Here is another example. When scientists are polled they always rank Isaac Newton higher in brilliance than Einstein and every other scientist that came later, even though those later scientists were more advanced and knew more than Isaac Newton. Why? because it required more genius given where Newton started from to do what he did. Lupe had Nas to learn from for goodness sake; he didn't take things THAT far..
I like your reaction man Arguably the best lyricist, a mastermind. And very underrated. Rappers don't like calling each other the best in the game because of their ego. But I think if you would ask each of the top rappers who has the best lyrics, if they're honest.... they'd say Lupe Fiasco. He's the best, together with MF Doom, Biggie and NAS
Huge shout to you for your obvious intellect, soul, and interconnectedness to your inner being. To be able to enjoy and appreciate such a work of art like what you just reviewed is believe it or not no small feat. Artist like Lupe Fiasco, myself, and other lyricist alike dive deeply into ourselves to put together such deep Musiq. To touch listeners like you being that your reaction was clearly ginuwine bring more evidence to the fact that respect for real Musiq is still alive and well. So once again, big ups bc reactions like yours is what keeps us going.
Eiichiro Goda hell, there are people who have been listening to hip hop for their entire lives who can’t come close to breaking even a tenth of this masterpiece down on the first, second, or even fifth listen. It’s just that dense and layered.
He has a head start because his age allows him to catch references that some of Lupe's younger fans might miss. Plus he's been reacting to rappers like Nas, Black Thought and others for at least 2 years before this by follower request.
Wife or not I might be sleeping on the couch tonight 😂😂😂 but this is probably my favorite track on the Tetsou and Youth album. This is one of the best displays of lyricism in hip hop history. That this is what you do with a party that you throw in bars bar? Lupe is different with it.the fact that the host was speechless for quite a few seconds after it was over says it all.
Hurt Me Soul -> Put You On Game. Slightly annoys me how everyone recommends this track to people who have no idea who Lupe is, doesn't give a very good entry point.
I love how blown away you were by this...as you should be, lol... please check out Mural jr. , The Cool, Put you on Game, The Emperor's Soundtrack, and Dumb it Down, to name a few.
That part where you paused it and said wow... I had to rewind that like 30 times. I'v never heard realer bars spit in such a technically impressive way.
So obviously I like the track as well as o took time to watch someone else listen to it. But what I really appreciated was your final thoughts on what you had just attempted to digest in 1 listening which is impossible. Your reaction was just as honest and from your perspective just like the track was. A lot of people hear hip hop but don’t actually really listen to it which is why those popular now are popular now mainstream wise probably in all genres of music. You got a subscribe from me good sir and not just because you played one of my favorite tracks, but because it was genuine with no fluff and especially no unnecessary 30 second intro with spinning banners and colors that shouldn’t exist like fuchsia or seafoam green or something like this. Good stuff. I’ll be back!!!
I'm glad you're checking out Lupe Fiasco's tracks. He's my favorite rapper currently but he's not that popular because he goes against the grain with a lot of popular ideas. But he is a brilliant emcee. Please check out Atomic Misphilosophy. It's another one of his great songs that I like a lot
Lupe is the greatest hip hop artist of all time. Intellectual poet, or poetic intellectual, a modern philosopher...please react to more from him, I suggest “Hurt me soul” or “American terrorist”
