    • @ScottRoss8
      @ScottRoss8 8 месяцев назад +3

      @@making-things Catmull-Rom was named after Ed Catmull and Raphael Rom. Catmull was also involved in the creation of the subdivision surface that is being used in multi-resolution. The Catmull-Rom curve has a continuity of 1 meaning that the slope (tangent) of the curve is the same going in and out of each point (knot). The b-spline curve is likely a cubic b-spline which has a continuity of 2. Both the tangent and the rate that the tangent changes are the same in and out which make the shading smoother but doesn't allow it to go through the knots.

      It's one of those tools that now feels limitless after discovering profile shapes. They updated it recently so you can adjust the grid size and make very elaborate profile shapes. The one I really like is making a tall but thin rectangle profile to be used for paper, flags, banners, cloth... Give it a try.

    How do we attach a tube path to the surface of an object ?? The option used to be in the settings and now it’s gone .

    • @making-things
      @making-things  3 месяца назад +1

      I have only used Snap to do this. This is the Snap control located in the leftside tool strip. With Snap on, I just draw directly on the object I want it to snap to.

  • @TaTown82
    @TaTown82 4 месяца назад

    When using the path option with the tube tool, I am unable to create a new segment when tapping/dragging on either side of the initial segment. The only thing it will do is rotate the camera-with either my Apple Pencil or my finger. I’ve searched everywhere for a setting or toggle that I may have switched the wrong way but haven’t found anything that makes it work the way shown in this video. The only way I can make new segments with the path tool is by tapping somewhere within the original segment to create a new point. What am I missing?

    • @TaTown82

      But other than that one piece (which is probably user error on my end), this tutorial was a HUGE help!!

    • @making-things
      @making-things  4 месяца назад

      You aren't wrong. I was testing it just now and for some reason that functionality is not working as it did when I made the tutorial. I guess the way to grow your tube in path mode would just be to add new interior points rather than points on the ends. Sorry I don't have a better solution as of yet. I'll let you know if that changes. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @making-things
      @making-things  7 месяцев назад +2

      I was testing it on my end and was not running into that issue. I am not sure I would know a fix for that. That sounds like an issue that may be resolved by reinstalling Nomad. I would not advise you reinstall the app until you've backed up all your Nomad project files. I also would hate to advise that if you have lots of custom settings inside of Nomad. If you are on iPad, you can usually find your project files in the native iOS "Files" app. I back up my files from time to time just because I'm paranoid about losing them. I might pose the question here first, before taking my advice. forum.nomadsculpt.com/ I'm sorry i wasn't of more help.
