Yeah. I have Vallejo. It took enough rolls that I have Louisiana, and more or less everything you can buy for event tokens. I wanted it, I got it, and it cost enough that I'll be putting WG in spending timeout for several months.
They’ve got the data. 5 years worth now, what price points make them the most profit. Seems expensive to me, but it’s obviously not that bad for enough people. Thanks to those wallet warriors for keeping the game free !! I thoroughly enjoy sinking their ships while using my free one 😜 … but yeah I do occasionally spend some cash 👍
The frustrating part for me is putting the new ships/cosmetics/commanders only in luck-based random drops. At least they limit these drops and say you will receive the ship within 100 drops, and they usually do that for crates as well, but by the time you’ve swiped your credit card enough, they’ve usually taken more from you than you would have liked to spend. I came over to ships from tanks a couple months ago because the game got stale and I wanted to try something new, and I’ve really enjoyed learning the strategy and tactics. I prefer the system tanks has though, where they really don’t lock tanks behind loot boxes. There is a sticker price for a tank and that’s what you have to pay. Sometimes they offer tanks for discounts, and sometimes tanks are only for sale for short periods of time (“if you want it, act fast because it won’t be here for long!”). I prefer that marketing method rather than (“maybe you’ll get lucky and get what you want with 3 crates and only spend $5!”). For example, with the transformers event recently, I like many of the camouflages for the boats, but there are some I don’t care for, and I don’t really care for any of the transformers commanders since the free ones seem better. If this were tanks, I would be able to pick and choose the camouflages I bought only would have to buy those. However, since this is ships, I tried my luck with 5 crates and didn’t get a single ship skin, nor did I get any commanders. It’s frustrating because I spent money to get enough doubloons to buy the crates, but then ended up not getting what I wanted. I probably would have spent more money to get the 3-4 skins that I really liked for the few ships I have or am grinding towards, but I’m not going to spend endless money on dice rolls until I get what i want. And it wasn’t worth it to me to buy the big packages that guaranteed all the skins. It’s just predatory marketing, and I try not to reward it. I was weak recently, but I won’t be making that same mistake again. Last, on the new hybrids, I don’t mind the pre-release crates that give you early access, because at least I’ll be able to play those ships in a month when they are normally released. If you want to spend your money to play them now, go for it. Thanks for the videos and commentary Aaron. They have helped me get up the learning curve faster and be better at the game
I don’t mind the monetization if there is also a good amount of free content but they kind of neglected that this update. Yeah there’s a new game mode, but where’s the usual free 4th of July bureau project? Where is the new legendary bureau projects? Anyone that has been keeping up with bureaus has nothing to research. Feed the whales fine but give everyone else something to do as well wg
Great post @RU A A RON. I will add WG has every right to charge whatever they want. I dislike the "spend on lottery tickets to win the ship model" they've chosen as the route to go this time out so I'll be sitting this one out. I myself would rather focus on upgrading on AL commanders which I personally don't have like New Jersey etc.. Just an idea for future content is perhaps breaking down the various "pay to play" models or options that exist and perhaps doing a breakdown of what might be the most bang for your buck for the majority who I suspect would spend but not $200+ on two ships. Thx amigo for the time and effort to produce this content. Enjoy it a lot
I'm enjoying this update. Wasn't excited for these hybrids but got Connecticut from a crate and I like it. It's possible to get 10 crates for silver and gxp (limit 5 for each). That's what I did
I whaled christmas and spent some on crates this update. The only two times I really whale are during the holidays and if there’s a big update like this one. Other than that I usually just get admiralty backing on the campaigns unless there’s a commander I want like Beapley or AL ones. Majority of the ships I got from last Christmas were from crates so I’m good on them for the rest of the year. Didn’t buy out the campaign but was able to get CT and NE so I had access to those missions for Independium along with the Kansas one so didn’t need as much for Louisiana. Didn’t care if I didn’t get Vallejo either.
I got the Vallejo on 71/100, I think I spent around $120, I kinda think it’s a good deal as you have the potential to get 3+ ships including Vallejo, Louisiana, 80% voucher and surplus crates can be obtained which could land you a free ship. Although it is expensive it’s not that bad.
I've been playing Legends since day one. I come and go to the game so I see all the big changes to the store, steel, the bureau and it's always seemed super predatory of how they do loot boxes and the high cost of commanders and ships
When Yoshino came around, the price was around the same if not less. At least the devs gave us a chance to earn it by grinding. With that I only had to drop $50 and now it’s one of my most played ships. In my opinion I feel like that element of grinding is not there. It is just full on whaling.
Ive probably played as many games as the next person, this game is easily the most I’ve ever spent on DLC etc. it’s kinda crazy. Sure you can grind and don’t have to spend a dollar but the grind they make you do is insane. Not only do you need to unlock a ship, now you gotta buy it. It’s just too much I wish they’d lower the prices.
Keep in mind I’ve only been playing this game since October last year so I respect the fact that the game has been out a while and I’ve missed a lot. But it’s almost like WG is forcing my hand to spend money.
I was tempted to see how much they dangle the carrot on the first page, featured and special tabs each month. Then add it up for the year. It’ll be a disgusting figure.
Wargaming's pricing model is absolutely horrendous, not just for consumers but also from a business point of view. If I had to guess, only 5% (probably less) of the player base is willing to pay $70 for a premium. A significant number of players (30%?) are willing to pay $10 to grind for a similar tiered premium. It stands to reason that if Wargaming was to reduce prices to say $20 w/o a grind that what they lose in single purchase sales would be made up for in bulk sales. They'd just need to go from 5% to 17.5% to make the same sales and the cheaper per ship price tag is likely to drive more repeat customer sales. Without access to the "spreadsheets" I could be wrong but generally economics favors low price bulk sales and considering this is all digita assets, the overhead is minimal, there is no real justification for the high price tag currently used other than poor business sense on the part of Wargaming.
Netflix is a good example of how that doesn't work out well. They increased prices, lost a few million users, and gained a massive profit because the price increase offset losses. Less subscribers lowered their backend overhead as an added bonus. In the FTP model dedicated whales, which are typically 1-2% of the playerbase, are preferable to casual purchases because of sunk cost fallacy. They stick around and continuously pump money into the game which ironically sinks the hook even deeper. The science behind this gaming model rivals casino gambling. Gatcha games are way worse, but WeeGee utilizes similar strategies in Legends. The only drawback is these whales now have a greater vested interest in the state of the game and become incredibly outspoken and can often be rally points for community outrage. The solution is whale purging, which we've seen multiple times now. The Missouri price drop with no refunds for the difference on any purchase older than 30 days was a great example. They knew exactly what kind of turmoil that'd create. It served its purpose though, many of the most outspoken whales moved on. The major drawback here is that the whale economy severely devalues any feedback from the greater playerbase at large. They have little incentive to listen to those who aren't paying up beyond keeping just enough of them happy and enough new players cycling in that the whales have targets to feast on. That's why I kind of chuckle when I see people say speak with your wallet. They probably weren't spending very much to begin with meaning WeeGee values them very little already. They'll just be replaced by a new player who thinks throwing a few bucks to shorten the grinds is a good deal.
@jamesbumgardner1469 If Netflix jumped from $20 to $70, it might be a different story. Their price increase wasn't that big (or more aptly, wasn't to the extent that it seemed unreasonable), and most of the extra income came from cracking down on password sharing. My argument is that Wargaming could be making significantly more profit if they'd stop catering to whales. They make up such a small portion of the player base that masses of players unwilling to purchase at the current price point would absolutely dwarf the spending power of the whale base if prices were set at a reasonable range. Look at games like Warzone and Fortnite, that sell their microtransactions at far lower price points than Legends, and the massive amount of profit they make in return for ensuring the masses can eat at the table too.
Yup, I’ve been playing wargaming since world of tanks beta on pc. Was a beta tester for warships and warplanes on pc and a super tester on console. I quit for 4 months and came back for giggles. This update is it for me, I’m done with this garbage…just wish I could sell my ships. And the 2 years worth of premium time.
I think it is too much $ to get Louisiana and Vallejo, the fact that I got the tier six and seven hybrid BBs is because of the 10 semi free crates that you can get with resources. I got a bunch of Transformers crates and was lucky to get all of the Commanders. I bought two of the Warhammer Bundles. This update I will only be getting Enterprise. I thought Centurion was expensive, but the cost of Louisiana and the Vallejo make that look cheap. WG has gotten worse with the amount of $ they want players to spend each update. I can't justify spending $250 for two ships and won't be getting them. I may get a few crates to try to get and get Delaware, but only 10 at most.
Do you think the Enterprise should have been a legendary class ship instead of Tier 7 considering it was the most decorated ship in WW2 with 20 battle stars? 🤔
This one was ‘spensive. I drop $20-40 here and there usually…But it’s my birthday month and I decided to splurge. The wallet is taking a rest after this week lol. We gotta keep the servers running! 😂 now back to the credits grind-the Vallejo doesn’t come with the upgrades included 🤣
It’s gone a bit far but if people are willing to pay then what can you do. I bought the hybrid crates for silver, picked up the Connecticut and I’m satisfied, not everyone is the same.
Spent the new currency on big crates and one inspiration. Still no early release ship yet🤷🏽♂️. Last time for spending any money was Christmas buying the gold every day special. When the gold runs out no more. Unless i break my promise to myself 🤷🏽♂️
Honestly I've always thought the pricing was well over priced I've only been playing for 1.5 years and I don't even want to think of how much cash I've thrown into it and I will continue to do so I understand it's a business it needs to make money but WG could charge the players at a lower rate and still be rolling in profit
Louisiana is coming back for free in a year so its not like you HAVE to buy it now. Paying for the privilege of timegated exclusivity is pretty typical WeeGee. The same for the hybrids, they're tech tree next update. You get 10 crates in exchange for game currency 5 each for silver and GXP. Thats the best offering we've ever had concerning early access crates. I popped all 3 in those 10 crates, rng based obviously. As to Vallero its typical gambling, you might get it in 2 pulls or the very last pull. Odds are you pull it well before though unless you are EXTREMELY unlucky. Edit: they could have made Enterprise a gambling exclusive or locked behind some expensive event currency, but they made it a regular old campaign ship. They do some questionable shit, but they could be waaaaay worse.
I am sitting right next to my phone, because Elon might call me and give me a ticket to Mars. Ya right!! The odds on these crates are a joke; I rather just by the ship out right then play that silly gamble.
As for the hybrid battle carriers I don't think it could of came at a worse time I'm sure majority of people were feeling the pain of the buffed carriers then they throw the de 7 in to add to the pillow biting and now they have more air attacks mixed with pretty strong armour topped off with guns that outshine alot at each tier oh I almost forgot everyone wants the indepediums so every game is 50% hybrid battleships
I have been playing this game since it first came out. I refuse to spend money in the store. I have probably only spent 100 dollars in 4 years on the store. Everything I have I either earned or got for free. People spend enormous amounts in the store. Just can't bring myself to do that.....
I spent 370 yesterday that included buying the campaign all the way out. I got all the ships and all the other extras. Pretty much done that for the last 3 campaigns. I want to play just don’t have a lot of time to grind.
Download the mobile game and link it to your console account. I used to never have time to play because I was out and about or just not doing stuff at home. Now I can easily pop in a game or 2 here and there
I've been tired of Wargaming adding more and more and more planes into our boat game so the De Provincien campaign was the first one I didn't buy since I think Okachov? Now with Enterprise I'm not buying that one either. If you guys really want less planes (like I do) vote with your wallet. There's absolutely no way I could sit here and be so critical of CVs and the new flood of air strike ships while handing Wargaming money to have those same ships
I wish they would have made American ships already in the game discounted, or at least have some ship we could have bought with the new update currency, without spending extra money for crates.
I spent 25 dollars to start the campaign and used the rest for hybrid crates got the silver and global hybrid crates and got the t7 t8 and got the t6 ship in a free crate
Vote with your money. It’s just like gambling of any kind, you have to know and understand how the mechanics work. They spell it out pretty clearly, so I’m not going to complain. I just won’t spend a dollar (other than campaign) on WG this month.
Personally, I think these levels of high monetization would be fine if they gave out more free doubloons like they used to, but over time they've seriously reduced the amount of free doubloons and increased the amount of monetization. This can only harm the game and to be honest it's sad to see such a great game that I've played for so long slowly become a microtransaction hell.
I bought the lushun campaign becsuse i wanted a t8 premium to fulfil the missions and wanted the ship but thats all ive bought in the 4 years or so of playing
The Global XP ships need to be rotated out. Like, swap them for other premium ships that were available at one time earlier. The carriers are too OP & make the he game suck. A lot. Another thing, carriers are HUGE! Their detectability should reflect their true size. Otherwise, it’s a gimmick & WG cheapens the game.
I think this is carry over from mobile games. It is certainly not customer forward and as someone who skipped last Admiralty; that price tag for a ship is absurd. That should have ether been an independence day free bureau project or a rare drop from the hybrid crates.
I don’t know if it’s just me that finds it’s weird and a little suspicious that WG didn’t say in the description of the Louisiana when you go to buy it, that it will be coming back to the bureau in a year. Because I had no idea that was the case I thought Louisiana was going to be an exclusive ship for this event that’s one of the reasons why I whaled out for it so to know that it’s going to come back for free in a year’s time and WG not saying that when you go to buy the Louisiana to me is very scummy.
@@Gelariona.no no no buddy don’t give me that BS excuse, why is it my responsibility to go check an announcement video? It should say that it’s coming back on the description when you buy it.
I’ve taken a break from the game. Haven’t played since the 1st week of Christmas or Black Friday. Don’t remember exactly. But $250 is way over priced. But I know everything is micro transactions up the arse. That’s for every game. But for $250 you’ll be able to get New NCAA Football, COD AND another game. But that’s depending on what all you get with it.
Haven’t touched the game in months. The egregious marketing practices was of the big reasons for why I quit. The biggest reason for why I stopped playing is that out of all the games I’ve played, World of Warships has the most clueless player base I have ever seen from a game. Which to me is shocking considering World of Warships is essentially a strategy game. Normally with games, over time people get better and the skill ceiling is raised. Not on warships. World of Warships players will have 10,000 hours logged into the game and will play as if they can’t breathe and use a controller at the same time. There are good players, but the average on warships is really bad and it taints the experience, especially at high tiers where you would expect people to play decently as opposed to taking a battleship they spent numerous hours grinding for only to get sent back to port within less than five minutes of the game.
Yes it has gone to far, this game has gone too far win pay to win type stuff. Having to pay this much just to get something to be competitive, its kinda silly. It has simply gotten to the point that i just won't play any more myself because this game has problems that they just keep ignoring.
By the way there is no gambling with the crates when it shows you exactly what you're going to get before you buy it. What i mean is i have bought 6 crates and every one besides the first shows exactly what im going to get before i even buy and open it. Thats not gambling thats wargaming tellingvyou you will have to get all sets before you get the ship
This is what WG is banking on, make the game more accessible to mobile players, some of the new players will become a whale. Until people stop feeding money to WG regardless of monetization, they won’t change and will only make it worse. Personally I’ve had enough as I won’t be spending anymore money in this game.
I didn't get the damn Vallejo until set 100. Was pissed. Dropped 102K dubs yesterday gambling (and losing) on Vallejo and buying out the campaign. At no point did Wargaming show up, take hostages, and force me to do this. Neither the blue team nor myself got better after my purchases. Everyone has different levels of disposable income, and everyone's situation is different, so spend wisely.
I don't want to be the plot guy BUT... every time I spend some money on the game my RNG seems to get a little bit better... Has it happened to anyone else or is it just an impression of mine?
Na it's just you play on the right rng day. To me it just varies from day to day. One day your on your feet the next your on your knees. Some times it might feel that way though, but after you play the 10th game your rng is all gone. There isn't much rhyme or reason to it.
@@nutzz7244 yeah, probably it was just an impression of mine. i spend money on the game rarely, so I don’t have a sufficient ststistic base to confirm my hypotesis
$250 For imaginary stuff, this is really not in the spirit of gaming, WG have taken a free to play game and turned it in to a cash grab!!! The reality, is no matter what you spend on, it WILL get nerfed sooner or later and you've just wasted a shit load of cash. I stopped putting real money in when there is no significant difference in the ships. R N G just f... you anyway when it suits, so what's the point in wasting money. It's not a level playing field anyway, if your luck is with you you can sink the biggest BBs or CCs with the least powerful ships in the game Fiji, Gokase, for example. So, no, I willnot give them anymore money!
Everything is extremely overpriced. No ship is worth 250€ or 70€. Whales have their fun but us? The players who can’t spend so much money? What content is here for us? A new line? While the people who spent their money get so much more…
Love the game to death but the average consumer like me can’t afford to pay them for most items therefore I stopped buying anything at all. $10 a month for admiralty backing is $120 USD a year just for campaign ships not to mention every skin, crate or ship being sold in between. It’s generally overpriced and to a small degree it is over saturated with content. Don’t go bankrupt but Jesus Christ set more affordable and competitive prices and watch the money roll in. Your average player is literally doing whatever they can to avoid paying you because of your clear display of greed. Top notch business model!

I waste money on SuperChats...🍻
Hahaha my man, did you see I went back and read yours the other day lol
Carriers and whatever these Hybrid things are have ruined the game.
Thank you for actually saying the game isn’t dying!
I spent over $1000 at this past Christmas just so I could get the Jean Bart and I did and most of the other ships and 16/4 most of my commanders.
Personally, i think it's a little ridiculous and will not spend that much to get a pixel boat. But i will buy a smidgen here and there.
Wow. Unreal. Good video man and well spoken.
Frankly I use to play every day but since the previous update I must of played a total of 5 games with no intention whatsoever to spend money anymore.
Only 250 !! What a bargain, let me sell my kidney and go mad buying crates !! 😂
Speaking 🗣️ TRUTH brother 😎😉
Louisianna, like the rest of the "legendary tier" ships, should all be available in the tech tree imo none of this bureau crap
I wonder after all these years why legends STILL has highway robbery levels of prices.... well we all know why they do.
As a longtime player ive made this my first pass.
Especialy on the valejeho or what ever its called i bought ab but dont know if i wil complete it
Spent the new currency on big crates and one inspiration.
It took me 85 rolls to get the Vallejo…. I’m not happy about that. I regret it. But sure as hell annoying seeing people get it in less than 10 rolls.
I got it at three rolls and was happy.
@@rogerporter7463 my point 😔
@@rogerporter7463 Rub it in Lucky lol. I am like Nick and would only have bad luck.
I already got San Diego free for my SAP fix. Wouldn't pay for either ship
The last campaign is the first one I haven't bought (after finishing it) in years. We'll see on the next one but probably not.
Ive learned to just wait and get the ships as it comes out and not jump on all new ones and have saved $$$
That will be the only way!
If I had a game like this I’d keep charging if people keep buying… why listen to the internet when the spreadsheets continue to look good
@whereruaaron i just noticed that the dog in your channel icon is a corgi! I have a auggie!
It has always been like that since the beginning…… But it’s true that it is getting even worse these last months
I don’t buy much but I use standard ship’s and I still have fun
Has Wargaming gone too far with monetization? Short answer: Yes. Long answer: YES!!
I haven't spent a single cent on the game
Most i've done was spend like 14k gxp on the hybrid crates and I got the tier 6💀
Yes they have. Not saying everything should be free, but it is getting more and more expensive
Well said👍
I bought the lushun campaign becsuse i wanted a t8 premium to fulfil the missions and wanted the ship but thats all ive bought in the 4 years or so of playing
Aloha bruh 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
I don’t know if it’s just me that finds it’s weird and a little suspicious that WG didn’t say in the description of the Louisiana when you go to buy it, that it will be coming back to the bureau in a year. Because I had no idea that was the case I thought Louisiana was going to be an exclusive ship for this event that’s one of the reasons why I whaled out for it so to know that it’s going to come back for free in a year’s time and WG not saying that when you go to buy the Louisiana to me is very scummy.
В анонсе WG об этом говорили. Ты невнимательный
@@Gelariona.no no no buddy don’t give me that BS excuse, why is it my responsibility to go check an announcement video? It should say that it’s coming back on the description when you buy it.
Got the ship on my secend roll so only 1500 db so lucky😊
I’ve taken a break from the game. Haven’t played since the 1st week of Christmas or Black Friday. Don’t remember exactly. But $250 is way over priced. But I know everything is micro transactions up the arse. That’s for every game. But for $250 you’ll be able to get New NCAA Football, COD AND another game. But that’s depending on what all you get with it.
I got the ship out of my 9th crate 😭
"ENEMY DRAMA SPOTTED OVER THE HORIZON!"
I was lucky enough to get her on set 15 but I still got 50 just to get Louisiana I saw some people get it at 92 or 100 which is very unfortunate
Has wg gone nuts whit money:
Y E S
not going to lie.... I spent the money. $199 in Canada for the big package then just bought another big package for $199.
Nothing wrong with it man if you got your bills in order
Oh my
Haven’t touched the game in months.
I got the Val on my 23rd
Yes it has gone to far, this game has gone too far win pay to win type stuff. Having to pay this much just to get something to be competitive, its kinda silly. It has simply gotten to the point that i just won't play any more myself because this game has problems that they just keep ignoring.
One word: YES
By the way there is no gambling with the crates when it shows you exactly what you're going to get before you buy it. What i mean is i have bought 6 crates and every one besides the first shows exactly what im going to get before i even buy and open it. Thats not gambling thats wargaming tellingvyou you will have to get all sets before you get the ship
the game died after this update , unplayable
Very well said, as long as the consumer is made aware
Wg always be WG lol😂 remember our last Italy event lol? its same like now
They could've made the Louisiana more easier to get.
I don't want to be the plot guy BUT... every time I spend some money on the game my RNG seems to get a little bit better... Has it happened to anyone else or is it just an impression of mine?
It seems that way to me too.
A new line? While the people who spent their money get so much more…
wg went too far with monetization about 2 years ago, wg will nerf everything the whales have bought in the next patch anyway...
They have gone waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to far
It’s a let excessive because buying these ships don’t make you better at the game because you never learn how to play lower tier ships
And no discount whel thats true grede
yes.
Idk whos saying it should be for free, but nothing should 70 dollars let alone 250
1 ship or I can buy elden ring DLC, BG3 and have money left over for a bottle of whiskey.
WG can charge what they like, if idiots keep buying it then go for it lol
