Great review. I just bought the D1 and couldn’t believe it’s power. It’s so much more powerful than my JTech 7w Pro. This Pro model looks like an absolute beast!
The 10% engraving performance depends more on the driver circuit than anything else. It doesn't mean anything. You need to use this information to adapt the settings so you use its full capability when engraving.
@@JTMakesIt The funny thing is, the guy who coined the name said it was pronounced the way we say it here and he was British. lol The way it all happened is pretty interesting.
Having run different laser systems. One thing you did not mention about the air assist. You need it to keep the smoke off the lens or you will wind up burning spots on the lens and will get blurry spot and its performance will decrease. Those optics can burn if the smoke gets on them. You will have to either get new ones or send it in to have them replaced. :/ You should have at least hooked up an air source to it till your assist comes in.
I think it could(if it is not white or other lightcolor), but you should also check out my new video where I tested the infrared module from xTool. It is much better for metals and plastics
Я купил Sculpfun S9, но вышла новая модель S10, очень обидно. Хотелось бы узнать, насколько большая разница между этими моделями. Моя задача гравировка на стальных браслетах
Every few months a new machine comes, this will happen to you every time. you can check the reviews of both machines here: hobbylasercutters.com/laser-reviews/ You will find out how both machines engrave stainless steel.
Thank you very much for the overview! I am considering my first laser engraver/cutter purchase and this one is on the short list. With that said, based on the gradient tests at the 7 minute mark I am actually leaning towards the Sculpfun S10 or most likely the Ortur Laser Master 3. It seems as though engraving with these two lasers will produce much higher detailed images and for what I plan on cutting 10w will be more than enough. The Xtool lasers seem to be lacking when it comes transitions. I am not sure if this is a limit of the lasers inability to run at low power or if it's fixable with a firmware update... Cheers, Greg
You need to take in the account that the test pattern with the 20W xTool has speed setting doubled compared to 10W test pattern. This is why everything looks lighter in color. And the S10 test pattern was made with an air assist which gives more contrast to engravings. Otherwise the quality of engraving is similar between these two. check my recent video where I tested the air assist kit also for the D1. But because the xTool is twice as powerful, you can engrave almost twice as fast. I haven't tested the Ortur laser master 3 yet. @@JTMakesIt Thanks for replying! I will use the links on your page for sure. Will the xTool lasers 10w and 20w produce shading below 20% power? Does it even matter? Thanks! Greg
I don't think so as the D1 Pro electronic board has a connector for limit switches and the D1 does not have it. But D1 can home without the limit switches thanks to the smart stepper motor drivers. Check my review of the D1 from few months back and you will see.

You need to review the Atomstack X20 Pro and compare it to this one, it’s the only other 20w true output laser module on the market.
You're a computer how can you do all of this ?
I have zero free time :)

Thanks! It truly is a beast!
Glad you said that because i was going buy a Jtech to put on my onefinity but decided to go with the xTool 20w
Great video!
For hobbyists, the 10W is priced right and definitely a winner.
For business, none of them, get a fast CO2 laser instead.
This machine engraves nothing at 10% of power unlike the Sculpfun and Ortur. Is this effect gray scale engraving?

Do you think this laser is better then X20 Pro and S30 Pro max? to cut in hardwood as pine wood 18 mm?
It is similar. See my video of the air assist comparison. There I was cutting a thick pine or spruce board with this machine. It did great.
your fast! thank you!
You should really learn how to properly pronounce aluminum. The way the Brits say it is wrong.
The Brits say exactly the opposite 🙉

very thorough, damn good job sir!

really enjoying my time with the Atomstack A10 Pro although their air assist already died. Banggood is trying to decide if they send me a new one.

Hi, i have made a separate video about an air assist: ruclips.net/video/R6qCplOJSzw/видео.html
Is the laser 450nm blue laser module that comes in the 2-1 kit same as the d1 pro 20w?
Yes, the kit also has the infrared laser in addition to this 20W laser
Very useful and accurate tests , thanks !!!
After some thought. Ive decided to buy this one. Can't wait.
Good choice! Have fun!
I heard that sculpfun will also produce 20w machine, are you planning to make a comparison video?
Yes I plan to make it

Hello, do you know if the D1 10w laser fits on the D1 Pro frame?
I think it does not. The mounting slot is wider and the connector has more pins on the D1 Pro.

Can it engrave on cooper?
No, diode lasers can't engrave on copper
how big will it cut?
Approx 400x390mm
