Please stop announcing new headsets before the ones you've already promised are out. As cool as it might be, most of us would prefer you go full force into only 1 thing at a time, especially something as complex as the 12k qled.

      @Corso156 24 дня назад +2

Looks unnecessary on the surface, but for users/operators of motion sims, the brisk or violent movements of the sim may shift the focus visual area on your headset. Great innovation, perhaps! Respectfully.

@dtz1000 absolutely not! It's basically mandatory for DCS and other developers need to get on the quad views wagon as well. Even without quad views eye tracking is a god send. If you don't want eye tracking, go with Meganex or BSB.

@@JaapGrollemanThat isn't a huge sharing of resources by any means. You can purchase premade optical assemblies. At least in my experience it's arguably one of the simpler pieces of the HMD, long as you aren't designing the optical assembly yourself. That doesn't mean we can confidently expect the company to figure out thermals, tracking, those new controllers, a motorized headstrap and mechanical IPD system, and fit this all into the form factor you've just shown us in that extremely shoddy render, then take that from design to full scale production in just 4 months. That is ridiculous. I'd be skeptical of a 4 month promise even if you had a complete prototype, and not just an ugly 3D print and an uglier render. Pimax's past promises have shown a common theme here, and if I were a betting man I would bet a large amount that this thing doesn't ship on time.

Ngl this headset seems like almost the perfect headset, the fact its inside out tracking yet targetted at vrchat players seems counter intuitive, considering most of us use full body which requires base station tracking so hopefully that base station tracking face plate will come soon after its release, also having eye tracking but no face tracking is a little dissapointing as atm the only headset that offers both is the quest pro, which quite frankly kinda sucks, and I've desperately been looking for another option, I'm also curious just how good the mic will sound on the Dream Air as the last headset I owned from Pimax had a terrible microphone, I am very excited to see if this headset ends up being real though I will definitely be purchasing it, just need to wait and see someone have some hands on experience with it so I know if this really is too good to be true because I have been scorned in the past

Now the fact you announce this new headset proves completely the opposite way. In addition please stop deliberately misleading your customers! Just a few examples:

    - 10:04 "We use a Display Port connection" - No, you don't! You use a type-c c connection which has got one third of the bandwidth of DP1.4

2552*3840*2(eyes)*90(Hz)*8(bits per color) is 58.9 Gbps.
Current NVIDA graphics cards until 4090 only support DP1.4, which maximum Total Data Rate is 25.9 Gbps.
So a native VR DisplayPort1.4 has to use DSC visual loss-less compression to make it possible.
The same apply when you use a USB-C cable in DisplayPort Alt-Mode, it depends on USB version:
      USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5 Gbps)
      USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10 Gbps)
      USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 (20 Gbps)
      USB4 Gen 2x2 (20Gbps)
      USB4 Gen 3x2(40 Gbps)
Pimax could clarify what versions of DP and USB will be supported.
In any case, all those 20Gbps are huge compared with the 200Mbps (100 times less) decoding limit of all Standalone headsets with XR2-Gen2 chips like Quest3 or Pico4 or SamsungXR

I see most of your comments are frustrated people that are saying you don't focus on the headsets, and you jump to the next too quickly. I have owned the 8kx and the Pimax crystal. I had frustrations with both, but also loved both for certain reasons. Your headsets are far from perfect, but there is no perfect replacement. I currently have a preorder for the immersed visor. This looks like the gaming version of that. I think it looks amazing, but as people say, you might, and probably won't deliver fully on promises. Forget the Puck, just recommend something like a handheld windows based gaming device or a GPD device which are small yet powerful just to run a film etc and 2d gaming. Focus on delivering each headset you decide. Good to see companies pushing the boundaries, even if it just helps develop greater products in the coming generations with the current ones leading the curve and having some pioneering issues. Also, there are very few companies interested or able to start in VR, with the market share being with meta. I'm glad pimax are working on things, and I understand them not wanting to stand still. Interesting, and frustrating, but still interesting (from my perspective atleast and I know it will be different from alot of people but hey!) 👍

Despite being small, this headset does not satify me because it does not have extended fov. That's what pimax is known for.

Fix the quality control issues of the current headsets first and deliver on the promised features/addons before taking on yet another headset. Why would Pimax expect people to risk $1900 - $2000 on this thing when they're struggling to deliver your current headsets which are based on a design that's been out for over a year and a half? Send some to Thrillseeker, SadlyItsBradly, VR Oasis, Cas and Cherry XR, The Mysticle, or Cai VR.
I guess the VR community want's you to prove yourself before launching so many headsets. I personally think the more headsets the better, but people want these influencers to support you before they give you their money.

      From Pimax website:
Nvidia's most powerful graphics card, Nvidia 4090, can drive display devices up to 8K at 60Hz with a single video interface. So that's enough for the Pimax 8K and Crystal or Crystal Light, but already, these headsets run close to the limits of the DP1.4 interface.
The bandwidth of Display 1.4 is 32.4Gbps, but the effective bandwidth - or throughput - is actually 25.9Gbps. When the Crystal Light or Crystal runs a refresh rate of 120 Hz and uses Display Stream Compression, the actual used bandwidth is very very close to this value. Then the last bit of bandwidth, we need for more things than just the image. Think about the SLAM tracking algorithm, hand tracking, MR image processing, image stitching, eye-tracking, and audio.
We can push the screen compression a bit more, it's visually lossless, but even with that, for the 12K we cannot achieve the required bandwidth. We tried a dual DP1.4 solution, with a dual bridge chip. But we're not satisfied with this solution and its outcome on the visual quality.
So we need to wait for a GPU with a DP 2.1 interface, which Nvidia right now does not have. AMD does have one, but there is currently no suitable bridge chip to support it.

exactly! It seems like there is no upgrade to the 8Kx if you like a large FOV

Thanks to this Pimax Prime stuff I have no clue what the actual price is. With currency conversion there are three different prices, I have to assume the main big number price shown is actually fake because it seems low and the actual amount I'm paying is more and includes some kind of subscription, and I'm not sure what the total in my currency is. And then add shipping? Duty? Thanks for confusing me.

Pimax Prime is absolute garbage that should just go away. Has zilch to do with a "subscription", despite them calling it that.
Until they fire their management it will remain a crap company.

Does the Super have the hand tracking or only the Dream?
