    Probably the best video on choosing basic clothes I've ever seen. The Why send like it will help you trouble shoot and stop second guessing yourself when you feel overwhelmed or have selection gulit.

    I’ve been working on my uniform lately, so this is helpful. Mine is cotton wrap skirts and t shirts, linen pants and t shirts, and cotton and linen wrap dresses

    I'm gonna apply this method when I'll finally start decluttering my wardrobe - grabbing things I love and could wear all the time, narrow these to my uniform, and then maybe adding some extra pieces that I also love/like and which could complement it. I hope that would help me reduce my wardrobe, because today I wanted to start this, but I looked at all my clothes and I didn't even know where to start!
    Also I guess for my uniform there'll be: 1) high-waisted jeans and loose black t-shirts; 2) maxi skirts and fitted or white tops (mostly for summer).

      This is a great place to start especially if you are feeling overwhelmed! I will be continuing this series and showing how I build a wardrobe so hopefully that will be a lot of help! If you get stuck at all just let me know!

    Ok, now I understand the real meaning of ‘uniform’ those minimalists vidoes say... thx a lot 👍🏼

    Yes! An essential concept and I love the way you explain it. My favorite example of someone’s uniform is Anna Wintour’s - she always wears a midi dress that has a print or a pattern, high heeled shoes, and oversized sunglasses. It’s different items, but the foundation stays the same.

      Having a foundation for your wardrobe is key! It is something that I have always lacked and I always struggled so much with my wardrobe. Starting simple with basics and then building your wardrobe from those makes it so functional and easy to incorporate different styles as your likes and dislikes change. 🤗

      @@EmmaStyleMe Exactly! And it also makes it easy to incorporate trends if that's what you're into! If a certain color or animal print is trendy one season, you can get one of your uniform items in that trend and you've incorporated a trend, but stayed true to your personal style.

    This is exactly what I needed to see! I’ve been trying a capsule wardrobe for several months, but I still keep going for a few certain things.

    This video was really helpful thanks! I’d never thought about my wardrobe in this way before. I think when I narrow down my look my uniform is either:
    1. Levi Ribcage cropped straight jeans with a silk blouse and high-heeled wooden clogs.
    2. linen dress with Frye harness boots.
    And I wear my Stetson hat most days!

    My uniform are colourful, special trousers or skirts and basic or graphic shirts mixed up with Jersey dresses (some patterned, some basic). You just reminded me why I really should stay in Style.

      Emma Losey I went through my closet today using the system you highlighted in this video. It was really easy and simplistic to finally figure out how to separate my go to’s from my clothing that I just like and what I found was that everything is black LOL so I definitely need some pops of color. Overall my style is very similar to yours jeans high neck T-shirts are my go to’s and for work more of a flow he pants again with a sleeveless top or dressy or style t-shirt. But what it does is it allows me to see now to not pick up another black shirt.

      The best thing you can do is be aware of your wardrobe. A lot of the time we don’t even think about what is in our closet. Being a conscious shopper and learning to be intentional with my wardrobe is the thing that really helped me. So glad you found this helpful!

    Love these tips! I too have developed an aversion to skinny tighter pants. I guess I always have felt like that, but for so long you just couldn’t find jeans in cuts other than skinny or tight bootcut/flares. As a teenager I would sometimes resort to buying men’s jeans! Now there’s so much variety. I’ve got a longer torso, and I’m pear shaped.....it’s been so hard to find comfortable jeans that look good on me. But now I’ve got several pairs of wide leg, slouchy, and high waist styles that make me feel SO good and they are actually comfy to wear! Love the shift in denim towards looser throwback silhouettes😃 Mine all came from Madewell and Zara.

      @EmmaStyleMe  4 года назад +1

      Yes! I love my Madewell jeans! I am the same: pear shaped and a really long torso. A wide leg pant looks so flattering and a high rise is going to help balance your proportions. I am so glad that wide leg and straight leg bottoms are really trendy at the moment. I hope it stays that way! Haha

    Where did you get your wide leg crop jeans?

  • @athag1
    @athag1 3 года назад

    Dear Emma, my go-to clothes are the ones I’m comfortable in. I’m also bored as hell with them. Futhermore, I’m at an age where the question ‘if you had to wear one outfit all your life’ sounds more like ‘ what have you been wearing all your life?’ I know that this is really a helpless rant against myself, but it seems like knowing my lifestyle needs or even the styles that appeal to me isn’t enough to translate into a functional wardrobe I can be excited about. If you know any steps I’m missing, I’d love to see a RUclips post about them.
