I am a born African presently living in Germany I'm about to travel on holiday in two weeks time. I am proud of gentle old lady you are interviewing, she spoke all positive things about Africa and she feeling at home. Thank you gentle woman. I love you!
Please don't be afraid of talking about having a house help. It's a way of providing jobs to the locals and many of them love it. As an African, I see nothing wrong with that.
@Follow The Light I agree with you. I believe that a big part of the freeing ourselves from mental slavery is renouncing the names that literally suggest ownership. I often ask myself what the hell am I doing with a name that has nothing to do with my people. Soon I will do a DNA test just to have an idea of what people on the motherland I have most connections with then take it from there.
Most Rwandans are friendly and have a great appreciation to Americans due to their recent history. It maybe true that Americans helped them after the genocide when other Europeans let them down, especially the French who were rather involved in the massacre there. Rwandans are also considered in America because till recently they are amongst the few African countries who were getting 10 year visa going to USA. That's a good point our Afracan American sister raised. Enjoy your motherland and good to see you in Africa.
A little bit of correction, with all due respect: We admire Americans, especially Black Americans, first because Rwandans are Pan-Africanists since 60's. The struggle of early African Americans was played in Africa, not in America. Black Panthers, Malcom X, Muhammad Ali, especially Black Panthers members were embraced all-over Africa. So, if you're an African American, you won't have hard time to settle in Rwanda; and after George Floyd incident in America..... . that was gross and our hearts were bleeding and seeking revenge. In general, Americans are welcomed on the continent here because they don't interfere into local political affaires.
Thank you for this interview! I hope to visit in 2022 or 2023 for sure. I want to check out the healthcare system. My situation is unique because I am retired but raising a 7 year old.
Olga Williams Oh my God that 7 year old is going to love Africa. And you bringing that child at the right time because he or she can learn Swahili and any other language they want to. God bless you and enjoy your new life in Rwanda if that's the country you decide to choose. I have decided to settle in one of the other countries when I return home And I have also made up my mind on exactly which one..... .. i very am excited and can't wait..... I've named it and claimed it.... so this year is my year and I'll be coming back home.🤗🤗 love me some Unapologetic nomads✌& 💛
I’m from H-town too!! I’m 52 and want to move to Africa, alone. I wanted the ocean views of Tanzania, but the heat and mosquitoes had me questioning my choice. I also thought Arusha, but not sure. I watched another video of you guys talking about Rwanda while you were in Dar es Salaam, so I was thinking…hmmmm. Now listening to your interview, the weather is perfect, not too big, I don’t have to drive and I can enjoy beautiful scenery. I think I’m sold. One question about the COVID testing: If you have taken the vaccine do you still have to get a COVID test?
Just returned from dar es salaam, didnot get bit by on mosquitoes, dont believe the hpye. I love Tanzania the people and beaches. I am now comparing between rawanda and tanzania to live.
Our 4 relatives have a questions? What's the best monthly income to live comfortable? With out being in a dark challenge areas? They are in their 65 , 70s and 80s.. on 890.00 to 1800 monthly. Keep up the good work on your information of Africa. We enjoy your video channel. The lady you interview is so nice. She has courage as a senior. You go girl. Lol. Blessings
Come on Mama there's Coconuts in Africa..... if you want coconut flakes make your own flakes Oooooo! all you need is a hand grater....... make your own coconut flakes. Ooo! Dehydrate them some to make them flaky and crumbly so they won't stick together then you're good to go mama.💛 just get creative and stop looking to depend on America for what you need........ Africa has everything you need mama just learn to make adjustment. You were only born in America then you where taught the ways of your ancestors slave masters so when you was born you had no choice but to conform, because there was no way for your ancestors to get away to return home...... but Africa would have been your place of birth and that is how you would have been making coconut flakes mama not buying it in a bag the American Way.... so happy that you made it home to Your Big Momma's House which is Mother Africa🤗🤗 love and peace to you welcome home Mama💛💛 from Dar es Salaam
Yes, you are right, coconut is found here, I bought some coconut flakes here. But it was more of a small dry crunchy crumb. I was needing the long moist coconut that is used on coconut cakes in the U.S. I looked for similar, but couldn't find it here in Rwanda. I did use the coconut found and bought here.
Thank you for a wonderful interview. Your guest has been engaging and positive. I see myself in somewhat similar circumstance with respect to age and standing in life as your guest. The word is not “old”. We are just matured people and not into the rat-race of life. I just subscribed to your channel.
Bring assortment of Command strips, super glue, simple tools such as plyers, screw drivers, etc., needle and thread, scissors, linen, can of Hersheys Chocalate for cakes and icing, hand cranked can opener, measuring cup & spoons, (why go looking for these basic things when you already have them) sweats(top & bottom) for times when it is cool in the house, warm cozy socks for cool temps, laptop & printer w/ some paper for times when you need a copy or a printed item. Remember small and light for everything mentioned.
The items mentioned is not to say that you can't find them here. Its just that they may be a lot more expensive. And you probably have them already, so why buy them again at a much higher cost. Because, most of the time, when moving here, you are starting all over. Buying everything all over again, and it can add up. The smallest items then become very important to have. Dollar Tree items becomes your biggest wish list.
Pam is such a wonderful and pleasant person. Thank you UN again. This interview gave me ideas. It causes me to consider things that I had not. It has also allowed me to see options that I previously could not.

The roads not always smooth in America either.....there was a flood in 2016 and a huge hole in the road.it wasn't much water on the road where I was driving but the water had filled a big hole in the road. mind you I was driving a BMW and to repair my car it wasn't cheap well anyway I was going around 40 miles an hour the speed limit was 45. that big pothole in America mess my axle up. I was in a place called Baker Louisiana right on the outskirts of Baton Louisiana. I must stress there are lots of potholes in America and there's lots of good roads just like they're potholes in Africa but there's good roads and highways in Africa as well.
