  • Stone cabins , huts and shelters who have been used by fishermen and hunters for hundreds of years, are located in the norwegian mountains. They are open for everyone, and useful when you seek shelter on your hikes. We are "collecting" these, and want to visit as many as possible.
In August we went into the norwegian mountain plateau, Hardangervidda, from Halne Fjellstove. We were looking for two simple stone cabins, called Skyttarbu and Kolvelægeret.
You can follow us out with the boat Halnekongen, and see how we manage our project. The first day we try to find Skyttarbu - without the right coordinates. The next day we go to Kolvelægeret, and seek shelter against heavy rain.
Wilderness and outdoor activities in Norway, with 2 huskies and us "a bit old ladies":Tove and Kaja . Join everyday trips and expeditions. Get tips and ideas for your own tours , or a good virtual tour for you that does not even have the opportunity to come out. We are concerned that outdoor life is good medicine that promotes physical and mental health , and gives us quality of life and joy.

    1) We have to hide the cabins so the Germans can't find them.
    2) My favourite stone cabin is Bamsebu.
    3) I also like Nilsbu
    4) Yes, binocular and rifle - essential kit.
    5) Du har mange "Grouse" viktig tror jeg. "Operation Grouse"
    6) There is an old saying in Telemark of the mountain people "It's always sunny above the clouds". This means to keep smiling and also to prepare and be ready.
    7) The door is locked - until the next weary, lonely traveller comes and opens the door to the past. :-)
    8) Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing. I was there in spirit, thank you :-)

I envy you for the many times that you can spend outside her nature. There are always great pictures of you in the fantastic landscapes. I like it very much, I like you :)) And do not worry, the Germans did not come and "besiege" the beautiful lonely cottage .... ;-)
PS: I'm sorry, but you have your channel was off on my subscription list in RUclips, I do not know why this happened repeatedly. There seems to be a problem of YT, because I've heard it from other users. I had your channel Subscribe new, so do not be surprised, it was in no way intended - I stay true to your channel :))) Best Regards Angela

How wonderful that you have these stone shelters! With all that stone around do you bring your own firewood? Or is it provided? I enjoy these journey you take so much! ~Dawn

Very interesting about the small huts. I would love to grouse hunt for a week or more from one of those huts!
Where does the fire wood come from? I did not notice any trees or large shrubs nearby.

On Hardangervidda (this mountain plateau) it is 9 such small huts taken care of by the mountain warden. He brings out big logs with snow-mobile in the winter, and the huts have saw and axe to cut the wood.

it is not some kind of rule / law(tradition) to provide wood and matches into the cabin in the winter for a lost hiker in need to help him out

    • @UTEavdelingen-OutdoorsNorway
      @UTEavdelingen-OutdoorsNorway  8 лет назад

+so steve Most of these cabins (on Hardangervidda) can not be used in wintertime, because they are deep down in the snow. But yes, it is a tradition to keep them with firewood and matches in case of need.
We know about some similar cabins in Femundsmarka, used in wintertime. Our dream are to visit some of them the coming winter ❄️
