Great guide!! Very detailed for a quick short guide A lot of guides would recommend taking improved lightning shields as it's the most mana efficient per damage
Why does a slow weapon benefit more from rockbiter? (1:30) What about attack power gives more *DPS^ to a slower weapon? Each hit will be bigger commensurate with the weapon swing time, but why would that increase the DPS?
@@MetaGoblin I'm actually thinking really hard about this, leveling and endgame pve: is 3%spell and melee hit worth not getting clearcasting, 5s cd on shocks and ele devastation. Especially spell hit is really hard to come by
@@Kvothe1994 For general PvE leveling I'm personally leaning more towards the resto side. Clearcasting is good on paper, but considering mana efficiency tends to be the focus, you aren't casting that many spells per fight so you aren't getting as many chances to get the proc. On the long term it is probably still more beneficial than 3% (applying to both spells/attacks), but not as much as first glance. Besides, I kind of prefer the boost on heals as well. Even for solo play, a 3 second cast which is constantly being pushed back is worse than a slightly longer CD on shocks which you avoid using for mana reasons anyway.
Hey guys. I’ve literally never played a shaman before(been playing since vanilla..), just curious since I’m a huge hc fan, would it be worth maybe using a one hand mace and shield for more survivability? I typically solo all content aside from dungeons which I plan to maybe heal for? I usually over level elite quests and do them when I have a better chance to get ‘em down alone. Just curious what y’all think about shield and one handed instead of two hand! Cheers y’all, this video was a huge help by the way mister goblin! 👍👍
I love all the classic content these guys are creating. It really is holding me over until classic launches. I am making a shaman tank, one way or another. It’s already in my head as a personal challenge!
Money saving: 9. Don't buy useless skills. For example, to learn all skills for 30-40 levels range you need 50+ gold total. You can harmlessly skip secondary weapon enchantments (frostbrand, etc), rarely-used totems like disease cleansing and so on. If you don't you the skill - don't learn it, save for mount instead.
Having LS up and flame shock becomes really mana intensive. I dont recommend both unless you dont mind drinking more often. Typically;(lighting bolt if you want to pull from a tight pack)flame shock, searing totem and melee them down. This is still quite quick and saves mana. I dont use storm strike unless Its pvp or I need to melt something down quick. But even then you need to use the crit chance debuff it applies to the enemy to really gain any benefit from it. So you should throw an earth shock on your target after storm striking them.
A nice and brief guide for sure, but you definitely need to mention Earthbind totem kiting. It is huge when levelling and grinding, it saves you from a lot of downtime
Great video, i will add something tho. I dont think rockbiter is the best option all the time. if you just leveled flametongue, and your rockbiter is a bunch of levels behind. use flamtongue.. same with weapons.. use the one you have avalilable which is the better. a dagger/shield can be way better damage if you have no great two handed weapon etc. Im going to level with two handed from 1-25 ish. when i get into contested zoned, i will switch to onehanded+shield coz i will be playing on a PvP server. The added defence from a shield is clearly noticable, especially fighting rogues! You do more damage with a one handed alive than with a two handed dead :)
There's actually internal scaling for weapon buffs between ranks, up until the level that you learn the next rank. So rockbiter will still be better for a 2h weapon at all points unless you're against a high armor target. Then the elemental damage from frostbrand is better
I don’t know why every guide levels as enchantment, almost all of those talents have little use or small proc chance. I stack int and quest elemental. I can solo 3 guys at once and then still able to kill more mobs. As ench spec you would literally have to use as little spells as possible and also forced to cast healing wave after every mob. Enchantment is way overrated.
@@Teewrecks69Yo man, that’s hilarious. But in all seriousness, never played shaman before. Curious if in the hc setting, is it worth going shield and one hander? I plan to heal dungeons along the way but I typically solo quest and over level for the tougher ones. Usually an alliance Andy but wanted to try out shaman finally! Cheers 👍😄

"Weapon Progression:
Coming soon" :(
use windfury if you want to have fun
I think going for 3% melee and spell hit talent is better than going ele, also it gives 0.5s cast time reduction on healing wave for healing 5mans
I was going to mention the option to finish off in resto but video got too long haha

Doing my old school spec 0/37/14 . It was the best hybrid spec that I used back in the day. Gives great dps/group buffing/healing.

I'd like to see your build ;)

Could u maybe make a guide on what to buy at the class trainer cause I feel like I waist a ton of money on that
Zofrin holderhek has a guide on that
thank you for showing low and high level rotations. most guides just show maxed rotations
Still no weapon progression...

Havent melee leway in classic killed of earthbind kiteing, just like it has killed hamstring kiting ?
I think so. I am divided because I think it's a massive advantage for melee but on the other hand they could be kited to death without it
Think it's abit overkill long range specially on taurens hitting stuff a mile away

He literally talks about this at 6:40.
Why do most guides recommend the shield talent ? Im only level 16 and can't afford the respec.
Does earthbind kiting work?

Str totem talent I found helpful leveling

I’m elemental too !
Sounds like something an elemental shaman would say.

Give us weapon progression
In classic do they have a 2nd spec option to switch specs?
no they do not it is only one spec at a time, so you really become known for your spec
i thought i was tripping when i heard the oblivion soundtrack in the background lmao
Thanks, mate.
Whats the best race for shaman with the above guide?
if you prefer pvp / melee playstyle go for orc , if you prefer caster playstyle go for troll
For pvp its Tauren ele/resto and orc for ench. Pve its troll for resto/ele and orc for ench
