  • Striped Christmas stocking on the LK 150 knitting machine. This stocking is a great project for beginners who would like to learn how socks are knit on the knitting machine, but on a much larger scale than normal. The skills shown include stripes, weaving in ends as you go, turning a heel and toe, i-cord, and a picot hem.
    I used Dollar Tree Just Yarn in red, forest green and cream. This is a lighter #4 worsted weight yarn, and you will need one skein of each color, so the project comes in at $3.00 total. You will use almost the entire white skein but have enough red and green left to make another, so go ahead and purchase two skeins of cream, in case you decide to make two. These stockings make a great inexpensive gift or craft show item.

    I haven't stopped watching you with the sock creations, and other videos! You've completely de-mystified the whole process of making socks (this and other videos), heel and toe shaping and I'm looking out for a LK 150 now after having my Bond machine of years which seems very very basic compared. Not looking for a massive machine set up - but one I can put away when I don't need to be around and this machine looks to fit the bill. Thanks for giving me the inspiration to get machining again!

      @@AnnaHaferman I have never been to one but you take a pair of (Christmas) socks, fill will lots of little inexpensive gifts, rubber band the tops together, hang on a clothes line after putting a number on it then all the guests draw numbers and get that gift. When the person opens her socks she gets to keep them or choose some previously opened socks. That is my understanding of the game…!

      @@peggyjohnson3240 Are you looking for a stocking with Fair Isle, or just Fair Isle in general, because I have a video on Fair Isle with the LK 150. I am using the Needle Beetle with it, but you could hand select the pattern also.

      @@AnnaHaferman I've been searching all over RUclips and elsewhere for a video on how to do machine knit Fair Isle Christmas stockings. I know (somewhat) how to do Fair Isle in general and can probably figure out how to do the top and leg part, but I need a visual on how and where to stop and resume a pattern such as the "tiny fleas" at the heel and toe. Hope that makes sense.

    Anna, I noticed the short rowing for heels and toe on the right side, and one video you did by short rowing each side of 0 on a slipper. My question is what is the difference between the two techniques on the finished sock or slipper? I have not done slippers or socks before, I've knitted garments for YEARS! Decided to try the slipper. Thank you for your videos, it's getting me back in the game again....:)

    • @AnnaHaferman
      @AnnaHaferman  2 года назад +1

      The slipper is knit in such a way that there will be a seam on each side. I think that I wrapped the needles when short rowing in that one but in the stocking I did an automatic wrap.
      The slipper video was for a class I taught to beginners and was designed to teach certain techniques without making it too complicated. The stocking is actually easier to do, but I think it would be confusing for new machine knitters.

    Anna, I really love this pattern. I have made several and did regular grafting. This time I wanted to do your inside grafts. I am perplexed by grafting from inside though. It looked like it was going to work when I was doing it but it ended up with a "standing ridge" seam. I am missing something from your instructions but I just cannot figure it out what I am doing wrong. I would send a photo of my results if I knew how...

      Hi, if you just follow the stitches of the waste yarn, sewing in and out exactly where the waste yarn stitch is, it will work. I suggest making a few swatches to practice with. I will try to make a video showing this in detail after the holidays.
