I've been watching your videos for a long time, and this one is still my favorite (this was the first video I watched on your channel). Indeed a highlight, no polish, dim light, whats the coffee brand again?, quite Italian when he mentions the ..alternative .. use of a Coffee-Press ..
The only thing is, these are mugs not coffee cups (meaning very big), and there’s lots of coffee in there (which means much more bitterness than chocolatey nutty taste..)..

I bought one on Amazon immediately after watching this video last week. I love it! Although, I do recommend that one watch it closely, as I tend to get distracted, and I have left it on the burner too long as a result. But when you remove it at the right time, the coffee is amazing!

I think this is the video that led me to you. I found a Bialetti from 1983 in a thrift store, sometime in 2013 or 2014. I started with Cafe Cubano, but was trying to get away from all the sugar that takes, so was looking for moka pot tips to make more Italian style coffee. Watches were a happy coincidence that kept me around. Funny that youtube decided to recommend it today.

I don't know why and how. But I started watching some of your videos about watches and the way you explain things it's just amazing. Before buying the Sea-Gull (skeleton model) I watched a video you posted some time ago so I bought it straightway. Then in another video you talked about the Accutron watch, the way you described it was so true, so I bought also that one. Now I am watching you making coffee with the same Moka Bialetti I am using here in Tokyo every morning and I don't know, feels like we have many things in common even if I don't know you.
Actually I am from Italy but living in Japan so this coffee costs me some money but it's totally worth it! Anyway, I just wanted to say you are great! Wish you the best with your channel :-)

You won me over with this one, and remembered me of a fun experience I had years ago, when I tried to explain "the moka" to my host family, while I was a student in Edinburgh.
I'm from Italy (mom from Monza, dad from Florence) and recently became an avid follower of your channel. I'm a passionate watch lover (even if I don't consider myself a collector, I own just a few good pieces), but I love your overall style and the way you manage to cover cultural topics, watches and other gear pointing out pros and cons, historic details and heritage, and framing it all elegantly but without falling in haughtiness. You are a proper all-round gentleman, attached to roots and traditions, which is a rare asset these days, yet open-minded. You are very inspiring.
I was thinking about starting my own channel, definitely with a different name (I still don't know if It'd better to speak English or Italian) and thought it'd be fun to browse back to your first videos for some inspiration.
I'd really appreciate to know a bit more about how you decided to get this started, and maybe some advice.
Best regards for now, hope to hear back from you soon

2019 here...Fun watching how much you've evolved both technically and your camera presence. Tips on the Moka pot: fill to just under the overpressure valve and you may want to pull the pot off the heat before it goes full steam. If you're in NYC, the Brooklyn Roasting Company Mocha Java makes incredible espresso.

Early 2009 I stopped smoking cigarettes and cut my drinking down to only friday, and Saturday (3 to 4 special beers). I didn't have a lot of money to spend because I lived on Dutch welfare for a short while (I had a depression) But I bought one of those machines.. and made the best breakfast for myself each day and watched a lot of very good movies which where very cheap because of the 2008 crisis. I especially remembered picking up a box of Dardenne brothers movies., they are very raw, real, and even more depressing than I felt myself, and it helped me a lot. I preferred Illy though, 2nd choice Lavazza. Cheers.

Hello Tristano, I'm sicilian at home we do coffee a little more "ristretto" "short" we fill the machine of water just under the valve! The one you've made we call "acqua i purpu" the water were you boil the suqid! Another thing we do we stir the cofee with a spoon in the machine before pour it in the little mug, because on the upper layer you have the fat of the coffee the "cremina" and you have to stir it, or only the first cup gets it! Thank you so much for your videos! Ciao

I follow you several months now so i thought, just out of curiosity, to check how this started once - and wow it was amazing to see your first Video :-) Btw: I use this kind of making coffee too and i´ve been tought by my italian mate how i create the "crema" in my Espresso just by using sugar and the first drops of coffee that runs out of the top of the can. Continua cosi!!

Incredible video, your attitude and respect.. Lavazza and Bialetti have just saved a fortune and made millions at the same time. Actually I might buy it tomorrow, during my lunch brake. One friend, who used to live in Italy, taught me, you should have this glass of water to your espresso. What do you think about that?

Yes, this coffee video is a strong case for George Jetson's smellevision. All of your videos are fun to watch, but this one kept me on the edge of my seat. I waited for the big punch line where you pull a gun and shoot the camera. I loved it like I love a Hitchcock film, you do command a camera well. Take care, Joe.

I bulk buy Lavazza Rosa on sale. One package works out to about 8 CENTS per cup of coffee, lol and it's far, far better than most everything from chains.

Agave is worth investigating. No prewarming , grind etc.

Interesting look at a moka stove top device, don't think I'd replace my gaggia classic with one, but they are very authentic. Also, I thought the correct order for coffee drinking in Italy was latte or milk heavy espresso variants pre 11am and espresso shots later in the day? Even though I can't have caffeine anymore I haven't let affect my coffee snobbery, I just buy Swiss water decaf beans to grind.

"Andrei d'accordo con Cosa Nostra Pisano, TGV!" I'm expecting the Lavazza today and I hope the Agave works out. Finally, I get to smell & taste Italy's favorite. The Vancave should be more tolerable now with hot fresh brewed espresso to keep me from freezing at night. Thanks for the 411, G!

After your email the other day, I decided to go back in time and check your previous videos. This one is especially fun for me TGV.
Enjoy your morning coffee... can I suggest you switch to whole beans and grind them fresh every morning.... you will not be disappointed. :)
    Regards,
    Dapper Shawn.

Put the coffee in the fridge. Fridge not freezer. You will preserve it.
Open the top while the coffee is on the heat. It will come up faster.
    Best regards from Italy

I love my Bialetti Moka 6-cup! I brew a full pot every morning and pour it into a stainless steel "Bubba" brand bottle. It has a lifting lid to drink from, but for some reason they call it a bottle. It stays hot for hours, because six espressos is a bit much and I just like to sip it throughout the morning.
I've been considering the stainless model, but I hear the filter holes are larger and allow more grounds through. Also it's made in India... and I'd rather have one made in Italy, especially since they're still charging "Made in Italy" prices. What do you think of the stainless one? I was looking at the Bialetti "Kitty" 6-cup, if it makes any difference.
