I love that they chose to do this song at the Grammys. It wasn't a single. It's intense and it confronts the America's drug problem from multiple angles.
"Vernon Reid is wearing a Sinead O'Connor t-shirt. not to be too controversial, but it doesn't go with the pants !" Garry Shandling , host of the 1991 Grammys.
I remember seeing the faces of the crowd after their performance. The conservative crowd was speechless. I bet Debbie Gibson (at the very end of the video) was clutching her purse tightly! LOL
Bro thanks for understanding what Black people go through... Black people created Rock & Roll and I am happy that this band was able to win two Grammy Awards...
So many good unique bands out in the early 90s. These were one of them. Wow, even Harry Potter was a fan. You can see him in the crowd on the look out for Professor Snape.
@abelashes Not to mention it's performers just absolutely tore it up on the stage!! I remember this performance and I've always loved it. I felt bad for Corey at the end cause you see him try to give Vernon a low five, and Vernon walks right past him! LOL! Poor guy.
I recorded this live on tv back in 1991 and watched it hundreds of times. Only now I saw that missed low five. LOL No biggie. They walked out with a Grammy that night and Metallica did not!.
@@truthhurtz8517 so what ? What that has to do with the comment above? I don't think rap is to blame bc black ppl never cared too much bout R&r to begin with and for sure they never cared for living colour if u see their audience 90% is white it always has been.

Holy shit, Living Colour is THE BAND.

Damn, this song and live version are so good!
They killed that shit. Great performance.
Dude, there was like four of them..
holy shit this is the real deal.
