I think this is right, her brother (we've been good friends for over 10 years, told me that she asked him, if he thinks I would take her back, and he said he told her he doesn't know) our families are really close, so we find ourselves around each other from time to time. She broke up with me for this guy, and I still have strong feelings for her (we were living together for a few years and getting ready to be engaged, but she left me while I was out of the country for 6 months for work, for her school "friend". The reason I haven't signaled clearly to her, that I would take her back is because of my doubts concerning her character (don't know if she cheated on me with this guy, signs seems to point that she did). So yeah I don't keep in contact with her, outside of unavoidable social situations.
If she broke up with you for this guy. She has to absolutely come back begging and apologizing and 100% convince you that she made a poor choice and she'd never want anyone besides you. But, even then, I would strongly advise against it.
