One tip with negative lab pro: you don't have to export then re import, but at the bottom there is a option to save as a copy, and I click the option to duplicate instead of add as a layer. Then the sliders and everything are working correctly.
Great video and great portraits. I really like the look of the 500t - it's like a toned down cinestill 800t, which, as you say, gives you a lot of room for manoeuvre. I also like the fact that there aren't any haloes around the lights, which are just a bit of novelty value. I need to try some 500t now....
Great night portrait shots. Chinatown is beautiful. I recently got a Canonet III QL17 rangefinder and I struggle a little bit with focusing. I did get a great tip when shooting in daylight outside. Just set the focus on 10ft and the aperture on 16. This produces a sharp image with a huge depth of field.
yea that focusing trick works great for strong daylight. other scenes/light will be more challenging difficult with longer shutter speeds. i also like shooting wide open tho, for portraits
What's up ribs, yeah man these were some killer night shots. Shooting at night is always a challenge of your skill. Sometimes the final images can come out magical compared to digital
I didn’t realize that developing with ECN2 vs Cinestill with C41 would produce such dramatic differences. This was educational. Great model and photos too.👍
Killed it man, loved the shots. Props to Leo on those slomos too, looked like cinemagraphs! Have you tried the "Cinematic" profiles in NLP yet? Also, what someone else mentioned here (NLP's built-in feature to add Tiffs or Jpegs into a subfolder at conversion) is a must-use feature 👌🏼
Lovely portraits with so much mood and composition! I like the muted s-log like look vision 3 500t gives since there is room to play with the results. I do wonder is there a "correct" white balance in those frames where his skin tone is more on the black side compares to the red/pink light colours? Keep up the good work!
Bruh! These shots were dope. I shoot with CineStill 800T. One of my favourite colour films to shoot with. But now, I've got to try my hand at this Vision3 500T. I like the look and feel of it even better. At least from the results, you were about to get on your Canon 7. All the Leica heads sleep on the Canon rangefinders but they're great cameras in the right hands. I will be in London in 2021 visiting friends and family. Would love to hit the streets with you. Keep up the great work!
man, this was awesome! I'm dying to try Vision3. I'm ready to buy but I've never developed color film myself. I'm looking to getting everything needed.
I'm curious what is the actual video light you were using. Seems like a super useful piece of gear. There is a company called Silbersalz35 that provides all the Kodak Vision3 line of stocks as still film. They also scan it using their cine scanners and provide you with high quality RAW Tiffs digitally. All as part of the deal. It's more expensive to ship it to the states but you live in London so it'd be cheaper. It'd be cool to see a review of that from you.
These shots are amazing! Did you shoot at ISO 500? And did you push the film at all in development? If not, I'm impressed you were able to use f2.8 handheld without any shake in the shots!
my problem is that the orignal file is still a negative, so using lightroom dials would require using them in an inverted way too. its so much easier to just use a duplciate tiff and use lightroom as normal is that what you are referring to?
@@ribsy @Doing Film Things yes the original is still a RAW file and trying to use sliders on that like you say is backwards. But there is an option at the bottom to create and jpg or a tiff. You can then stack this or create a subfolder. It creates a subfolder from the generated tiff files and can then go back to your library and find those to edit without any need to duplicate/re-import. NLP does it all for you.
Yo, your scans look so good. So detailed and sharp. Crazy how different the film stocks are. Was an awesome night. Looking to the next one.
thanks man. i did have some stray remjet left over haha. little specs of white here and there
Leo is a beast on videography!

Beautiful night portraits, great job!
Thanks! I was happy with the result

Yea! Cross processing and under exposing makes all the difference!

Yea man! Now I now - had no clue haha. Will 100% be using this feature going forward
✌️
Great work! You really showed how nice the film is, and how versatile it can be for editing.
Thanks! Yea the film is very capable 😃
Awesome images! I've shot 500T before but was never too impressed. These shots makes me want to give it another go!
haha its all about how you use it. any film can be interesting/not interesting
More good shots man! Looks like you guys were having a fun shoot. London looks amazing! I need to get out there one day.
thanks! yea we had a great time, always good company
Good video content keep sharing I'm watching from japan.. I'm waiting for your another videos
Thanks for the support!
Would love to see a darkroom print of some of these negs...... As a comparison to the digital scanned image.
Yea I’m thinking about it! Have a lot to print nowadays tho cuz of the print sale 😅
That portrait at 2:50...damn!
thanks! yea that was a nice one
Soul patch looking strong bro
hahaha im working on it! 😂

Yea if you like cinestill def worth checking this out. It’s a different experience but in the same ballpark
@@ribsy word! 💪🏿
Killer video my dude! Images came out clean! Would love to use this concept in a short cinematic piece
yo for sure. id be the star right? 😂
Really loved this video!! Do you remember the settings when you were shooting the model with the neons behind?
yea, everything was basically 2.8 at 1/30 or 1/60th. i rated the film at 500
Do you remember/guess what shutter speed you were using? The shots ended up great, vision 3 must be my favorite film of all
Probably 1/30 of a second at f2.8
I'm fan of all the Kodak vision set. I prefer to enhance by myself the colors instead of getting it directly as with the cinestill.
yea makes sense. more control!
how in the world did that video light not cast any sort of hue on the models face? all the exposures came out so clean
Haha I dunno man. You can def see the color of the light, but it looks nice 😃
Great video ! One question, if you were using red light why was his skin just bright but not red ?
tungsten film will render the red light more neutral
man, this was awesome! I'm dying to try Vision3. I'm ready to buy but I've never developed color film myself. I'm looking to getting everything needed.
Remember its remjet film, you need develop this film in ecn-2 process
@@polskiyeti thanks for the heads up, been looking at the QWD kit. Now this has me wondering what would happen if you process Portra 400 using ECN-2
@@alexiscuarezma i think portra after ecn-2 is more satureted and blue than portra after c41
correct! no biggie tho
yea you should def do it. all the necessary pieces are out there

These are some of your best images yet. Maybe having to work harder with an RF helped you.

ahh i don't remember unfortunately
Great portraits. I'm dying for kodak vision 3 500T you using it. How can I get the handle light in your video?
Yea def go shoot some 500t. The like is the pixel G
You export a tif and then re-import it? you know NLP will make a tif when you process the image so you don't need to do that

Hey Ribs, did you have 85b filter on?
Hey! Nope I don’t use it. But I hear it’s good for shooting 500T in daylight
these are dope. what kind of led light are you using for the extra light?
its a pixel g1 light! got it off amazon
Just got some vision 500t expired. Any ideas about the iso that I should use?
depends how old. shoot at 250 maybe
what is the name of equipment in lighting u are using
i don't remember, sorry!
What iso when you shot
500
Did you use 85B filter?
Nope! No filter at all 😃
@@ribsy the results are just great, good work!
it kinda makes sense - the filter is used with the sunlight and since all the light at night is tungsten u don't need the filter!
Posing is no good dog!
