It definitely looks AA but I don't mind. I never expected a Resident Evil level result. I want to play it because I like the environments and I dig cosmic horror but will I pay full price? Probably not.
Its definitely looks Triple A and is easily worth regular new game price on release...,With the talent behind the game and the passion of the developers to craft a compelling new horror experience while respecting the original is a definitely must by.Hopefully you realize that and buy this Triple A game on release day this Wednesday,..
It's not a remake. 1992 version was happening inside a house all the time. Part of the story was, that you cannot go outside. It's a reboot, not remake.
Yeah not to mention none of the rooms in the house look similar to the original. Hell there looks like there's a bunch of characters in it, which removes the entire premise of being Alone in the Dark. It's pretty much an entirely different game.
If you grew up back in the day and played the original AITD, two things that struck you as awesome about the game... the music, and the lovecraft references. No game had attempted it before, and it was way ahead for its time. We had point and click adventures, but action oriented games were kinda sparse on the pc back then.

I personally am really hyped for this. Im just expecting a AA survival horror game and ill be picking it up day one. We need more AA horror in the world.
Agreed, day 1 for me. People get too hung up on graphical fidelity. Not every studio has the budget for AAA. I'd be very surprised if this game is a mess, they delayed it 5 months. I'm expecting a solid AA title.
I hope this is good! I am always in for a new horror game and the setting for this one looks interesting. I haven't played an Alone in the Dark since the Dreamcast port.
if you're talking about The New Nightmare, man, I really loved that game... I was a late teen when I played it and recall it being pretty scary (especially the random jump scare apparitions)... I never beat it with Aileen, but did with Carby... sure, it was never gonna beat a game like RE and SH, but I can always appreciate a good survival horror game
and also, yea... I hope this is good, too... Like, I dunno... I don't think the game looks THAT bad.... I don't think the game looks bad, at all... Is it RE4, Alan Wake 2, or Dead Space Remakeblevel of graphics? No.... but it's MILES ahead of the garbage that was Stray Souls..... 😅 I'm sure this will be a game that's maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10..... which, to me, isn't bad, at all... it's a "good game"

We're LUCKY that the guys that gave THQ a deserving rebirth decided to do anything with it. Although I honestly see no reason for this game not to be released for PS4 and XB1. Wish I could play it day one.
should have spent more money and time on gameplay instead of hiring celebrities. By the look of it I feel this will be the last we hear the name "Alone in the Dark" unless the price tag reflects the scope of the game.
Bruh, this game feels very genuine. However well it does in terms of sales, I bet it's gonna be dope either way. An Alone in the Dark game written the writer of Amnesia can't possibly be bad, right???
UGH my fears based off this have been confirmed. This looks like AA the evil within....not alone in the dark. alone in dark is more puzzles than shoot em up. well the first one (which is the best lol) and that seems to be the one they are trying to evoke. This seems like a ok action horror game but alone in the dark is something else entirely
Gameplay over graphics mindset here, my only issue is when facial animation doesn't reflect the top dollar talent you hired for the two leads. Makes it jarring and more noticeable. But I really hope this stands out like how Robocop Rogue City did. A really solid AA experience is what I hope it will be.
I wonder if there's a way to check your items, it doesn't seem like you have an inventory, you pick up so many key items, how do I check what I've picked up?
Looks nice, I hope it will have good optimization and will be bug-free like resident evil games so I can treat them equally. I hate it that player becomes defenseless if his melee weapon breaks.
It's actually Really cool to See how Resident Evil originally owed it's existance to the Original Alone in the Dark. And now Alone in the Dark owes it's existance to Resident evil Remakes.
Looking forward for this game. I remember playing the original back in 1992 and all the sequels. There was one part in the original that scared the sh** out of me. There was a part where you walked in a dance hall and you needed to be careful not to touch the dancers. If you touched one of them, it turned into a some bubbly creature that chased you across the mention and unlike RE, it kept following you into the rooms. It was an insta kill.
Yeah, I'm with Kyle. Alone in the Dark (2008) is very special for me. I got that game quite early after I switched to console gaming in 2009 and had a blast with it. I really liked the original trilogy and the fourth game as well and it was exciting to play the 2008 game. It was an early cinematic game with a lot of cool little features, like the jacket inventory and the crafting system, the physics, the light mechanics, open world-ish roaming with driving crossed with scripted setpiece moments. It was a great game. I recently played it again and I enjoyed my time with it still, though it wasn't as jaw-dropping as it was the first time I played it. This game however... I have hard time finding the Alone in the Dark DNA in this one.
I also switched to console gaming when Alone in the Dark 2008 got released and it was one of the first games I played when I bought an Xbox 360. Even if the game was really rough around the edges, it was also quite inventive, both with its inventory system and its approach to killing enemies by setting them on fire, and its open-world execution.
I don't get it how can anyone like the 2008 Alone in the Dark. It was a disgrace to the franchise in every way. For me The New Nightmare will always be the best.
Looks great besides a few things..the animations of the way the bullets hit enemies looks alittle crusty and the optimization needs some work but i have faith they will get that kind of stuff ironed out before release. My very first horror game back in the 90s. So hyped about this one...
I have been excited for this but i cant help but notice the gunplay and melee look really bad, i dont mind a little jank but this does look bad,but rverything else looks really good to me
AITD: Inferno from 2008 is awesome. It has a ton of jank but the gameplay mechanics are fantastic. So many options at your disposal and a dynamic fire system. Its such an entertaining game once you get the controls down.
Everything doesn’t need to look out of this world amazing and ground breaking graphic wise. As long as it’s fluid and bug free. Most importantly if it’s a good, well made, interestingly different, fun to play game…I’ll take AA over AAA any day in this modern climate. Easily.
Is the term “isometric” used more broadly in North America? Cos I’ve seen it applied by US games media to so many games that wouldn’t fit how that term is used in graphic design at U.K. High Schools. Over here it’s a very specific perspective/projection and stuff like Classic Resident Evil or other survival horror games would definitely not be classed under it just because they have 3rd person angles and not the second-person over-the-shoulder camera style that is popular in many modern games
I have no idea how game budgets work but part of me wonders if they hadn't cast Comer and Harbour (all due respect), could they have reallocated that budget to the overall graphics and polish? But maybe their performances will be so good I'll end up not caring about the graphics.
Even had they not used Hollywood celebrities, the game still doesn't have the budget of either Last of Us or Callisto, so what would you expect? You typical entitled gamer.
Despite my last comment though, I will admit that companies are lacking a bit on character design department. Gone are the days when they didn't use big actors to create a character. It felt more imaginative, creative, and gave the sense of a character being their own character and not based off of someone visually in real life.
Maybe they wanna save some development ressources, but I can't understand why a game like this isn't at least digitally being distributed on PS4. This looks like a quite nice PS3/4 era game, by far nothing that makes it look like a PS5 exclusive.
