10/10. Megatron shooting Sentinel and Optimus ripping Megatron’s head are my favorite parts of the movie.

Sentinel called himself a Prime but turned on his fellow Autobots just to please Megatron and it backfired on him
Remember what jet fire said in Egypt? “Primes lived by 1 rule, never destroy a planet with life” That’s what came to my mind when Optimus said that to Sentinel before he killed him

Don't forget, Sentinel declined Prime's offer to retain the matrix of leadership.

Yeah, Sentinel didn’t deserve to be ranked as a Prime. I bet Ultra Magnus and Alpha Trion has so many regrets about ranking Sentinel as a prime. Glad they ranked Optimus as the last of the Primes.

Let me get this straight, Sentinal was laying the smackdown on Optimus, and was about to take him out till Megatron pulls up and wipes out Sentinal with a 2 piece combo...Only for Optimus to get up and say "Haaah thanks fo da save bro, I couldnt whoop that punks ass...You on the other hand,...😏😏😏"
You could see Optimus was holding back even to give his life to make Sentinal see the errors.....Thats when Megatron jumped in with a cowardly attack on Sentinal from behind, he know he could not take sentinal and didnt think while optimus was heavily damaged he could fight fight back so Megatron was gloating over what he thought was a fallen warrior....not Optimus Prime

Here is how it played out imo:
Sentinel is more skilled than Optimus and beats the shit out of him.
Megatron came in with a sneak attack and got a free 3 hits and forced Sentinel on a brawl type fighting, since Megatron was a brawler and Sentinel was not Megatron was wiping the floor out of sentinel.
When Megatron beats Sentinel he didnt expect Optimus to fight due to his injuries but since Optimus did charge Megatron tried shooting his weapon but it got jammed and well death.
That's Michael Bay movies for you. All flash no substance. I hate these dumpster fires.
"Always the bravest of us" makes more sense once you find out Optimus's true origins. I was always confused with that line

@@grand_max66 But as far as im aware Optimus is the last surviving original Prime here, in the Bayverse timeline there was never an Orion Pax, he was an Cybertronian orphan named Optimus with an unknown origin taken under Sentinel's wing and by the start of the war due to his symbol in his "ear" he discovered that only real Primes wore that, thus knowing he was actually Optimus Prime, this was from one of the official prequel comics which actually dosen't contradict the main movies

If you think about it, Optimus also killed them in near similar ways they killed each Autobot. Megatron ripped Jazz in half and Optimus rips Megatrons head off and some of what looks like spinal cords, Sentinel shot Ironhide in the back then continued shooting him while he was down on the ground injured before turning to rust and disintegrating from Sentinel's Rust Cannon and Optimus shoots injured Sentinel on the ground, Lockdown rips Rachet's spark out from his chest and Optimus stabs Lockdown in the back through his chest before slicing him upward.

That's something I always loved about megatron's character. It's like he only fights optimus when he has no other enemy. Almost like he still respects optimus so much that hed rather not fight him when possible

Okay... I know optimus is supposed to be a good person, trying to stop the conflict and all, and I get why people say him mercilessly killing megatron is out of character for him.... But let's consider this...
Optimus went through over millions of years of war because of megatron.
Got killed by megatron.
And probably lost many friends because of megatron.
Plus, megatron did aid in the invasion of earth, three times.
Would you spare someone responsible for all that, even if they saved your life?

Megatron only saved Optimus out of need. He knew Sentinel would just reinstate the old ways that started the war in the first place. Optimus would have helped Megatron, but he realised the same thing Megatron did. If he lives so does the war.
Its the same argument for batman killing Joker except this time bats did kill joker and people don't like it. I thought it was completely justified. megatron has died once and come back, and then he let megatron slither away to lick his wounds and we know what happened next. he wasn't about to let it happen again.
Tbf if anyone's gonna kill Optimus, it would be Megatron and he ain't letting other bots finish him off unless its personally his own hand.

A interesting fact: in the comics Optimus and Megatron teamed up to take Sentienal in a 2v1 fight.
After the battle was over Megatron offered a truce and Optimus stood facing Megatron. The Decepticon leader left in the ashes and smoke
Now that would make another perfect ending like how in G1 and in the War for Cybertron trilogy

2)He was a traitor and Optimus served justice, nothing wrong with that.
3)Sentinel got his chance, but his final dialogue shows that even after Megatron betrayal his mind didn't change, it was needed.

I find *the reaction of Sentinel* funny when *he is about to die* because he is *suddenly* terrified only at the last moment.
Like if before Prime quote he was thinking that what he says would be taken seriously after what he did, but and after Optimus talked Sentinel tought "oh shit, he is gonna kill me for real!". The sudden change in his voice is just gold.

Optimus in movie: *mercilessly slaughters Megatron who literally saved his ass*
That moment was supposed to be the canon even for the film, but Bay got pissed once it got leaked and wanted it to be changed so that the audience still remains surprised with the ending. Were it not for the leak, the trilogy could end there with peace.
To be fair, in the novel they worked together to take Sentinel down. Here, it just seems like Megatron wants to assert dominance.
This is the same Megatron who started a war that lasted millions of years, killed Optinus, and his friends. Megatron only killed Sentinel because he didn't want anyone, but himself to have the glory of killing the best of the best.
In the novel and the comic, he also sounds way more genuine about it. "Who would you be without me?" sounds way too much like Ledger's Joker "we are destined to this over and over again".

@@UltimateFormula1Fan Either way it would have been the smart move to accept the truce. Both cause Optimus shouldn't act like he does in the films, and for political reasons, like to not make him a martyr.
But then again in the first 10 minutes of ROTF Prime killed their literal only possible lead on who the Fallen is, so maybe Movie Prime's just an idiot.
Well, yes, but you have to think: Optimus knows Megatron all too well. Megatron may have said that they needed a truce, but he didn’t mean it. He would’ve done everything he could to stay in charge, even if that meant killing Optimus again.

@@PhoenixPrime Yeah but every other version of Optimus knows that to kill Megatron here in this situation would be a really stupid idea, as not only could it make him a martyr it would mean there'd be 0 way to have the rest of the Decepticons still out there stop fighting. Like in IDW Optimus had Megs captured and, in exchange for letting Megatron attempt to do 1 good thing before he died, had him denounce the Decepticon ideology entirely, and after that the only time the Decepticons were a major threat again was when Galvatron attempted to take over, but only half of the Decepticons joined him to he was taken down very quickly.
Of course the real world answer for Prime killing Megatron after he was saved was that it's a carry over from the original ending. Where Optimus and Megatron teamed up against Sentinel, killing him with the weapon that was used to kill Ironhide, and then did accept the truce. Having Megatron order the Decepticons back to Cybertron to rebuild while the Autobots protected Earth.
It was then cut due to the book and comic adaptations coming out first, and the studio wanted the movie to have a different ending.
@@grand_max66 You forget Optimus and Megatron literally fought to the death in the G1 movie(which is the continuity which people say is the definitive version of Prime), and Megatron begged for mercy when he was at gunpoint. Even in his own words "you without mercy, now beg for it?" Also Megatron wants to be in charge, so it's not a good idea.

I think if they had stopped at this movie it would have been perfect but I did enjoy how the war and the aftermath had caused tension between the humans and transformer's
Same. Age of Extinction is weaker but still decent, making a good drama out of the conflict between Autobots and humans. But The Last Knight shits on all the established continuity till then, is horribly edited and recorded and is absolutely inconsistent mess. Bay absolutely did not care with that one. AoE still looked like he cares a little bit and was setting up a grander story and it did not exactly clash with previous events.

Honestly if they just rebooted after DOTM the movies reputation and the franchise as a whole would have probably been better. Now it's just G1 nostalgia in every part of the brand to make up for TLK bombing financially less than 4 years after Prime S2/3 didn't meet financial expectations.

I feel like Optimus killed Megatron as payback for what happened in the previous movie. Plus Sentinel killing Ironhide by shooting him from behind proves that Sentinel is a danger to the Autobots. Optimus's quote "You didn't betray me, you betrayed yourself" is a memorable one.
Optimus managed to kill Megatron and execute Sentinel with just one arm, impressive!

Watching this after so many years I think it's a weird ending. Optimus was begging sentinel saying please. Megatron saved him and said we need truce but Optimus killed him... Galvatron showed her can hold a proper truce in The last Knight. It's really weird to just kill the person who saved you.

After sentinel was killed. Thanos secretly entered Transformers universe and steal his sword for himself
Optimus basically causes the events of fourth film, including the Transformer purge, by executing the two people who could have taken responsibility for the Battle of Chicago. If Sentinel and Megatron had been tried and sentenced after the battle, it might have alleviated some of the anger and fear that ordinary people had about Transformers. Instead, Optimus kills them himself, not only proving his own propensity for violence but also removing any possibility that humans and Transformers would ever be able to co-exist again.
The problem is that this are two beings he killed were about to turn the planet Into Cybertron and another whom has instigated the war and battles on earth and also the fact that the war between autobots and decepticons will still continue if they had a leader like Megatron so he had to go and it wasn't even him who destroyed any chance of coexistence, he was the reason for said coexistence and in the first film Megatron died and yet no one cared for it, it was sentinel prime who destroyed that said possible coexistence, setting the entire autobots as nothing more but decepticons in disguise.

Yeah, it was weird dialogue structure. Bay obviously wants to show more effects of robots without cuts instead of giving focus of their faces like a real characters and take times for them to speak their lines or show emotions.
He pleaded for mercy and sentinel was going to kill him anyway Optimus was returning the favour

Ah yes, Optimus’ Revenge. Two words that should never be in the same sentence. As fun as these movies were, I can’t believe how the film continuity made the leader of the Autobots into a howling berserker who executes helpless foes and threatens humans. Poor Peter Cullen😔

@@deltamills5641 they are many dipection of optimus and his character throughout transformers the bayverse has a more brutal version but they are reasons. prime in the bayverse may have been one of the original primes or a new one before megatron war. the recent movies have been making the primes more like ancient knights mixing into eurpoean stories knight which are honorable warrior who love combat just look at jurersalem (joke)

A detail i've noticed after Optimus Prime executes Sentinel, Optimus looks like he's grieving over his Mentor for a short moment. The reason why is because Optimus Prime had to kill his former teacher, someone who taught him that freedom is everyone's right, a fellow autobot who sadly betrayed him. It all makes sense now! Optimus has every right to feel remorse after killing Sentinel Prime. I couldn't imagine executing someone i myself was close too. Only to have them betray me at the last second. Sentinel Prime was an autobot who disregard his oath. An autobot responsible for killing hundreds of innocent lives, Including a autobot comrade. It's understandable whatever Optimus is feeling after killing Sentinel.

Batman and Optimus prime were the only heroic characters I have admired. Intelligence, wisdom, tactics, leadership and independent are what they both have in common.
Optimus also killed them both because of Jazz and Iron hide's deaths, and also the fact that both megatron and Sentinel want to enslave/kill/terraform life and humans on Earth, or would choose to sacrifice carbon lifeforms and planets for Cybertron and transformium. Which would lead to the endless wars Optimus and the Autobots fled, and killed to avoid. I can't believe most people don't understand the importance of the reason why the BayVerse has humans and Earth and why bumblebee or any transformer who has spent enough time on earth understands: War and dominion is not the best way of being which is what was the primary purpose of transformers and specifically decipticons. While peace and freedom is much better and is worth fighting/killing for as it is NOT CHAOS, aka what the Autobots and even some decepticons like Jetfire, Bumblebee etc understands, and fled from. Even the original primes thought that and gave the matrix to Sam. There are endless examples of this in the franchise, because its the main goddamn message in every movie. But people want dumb old G1 transformers type of themes and supress any original and actually intelligent perspective and thought, and prefer reducing the franchise to a dumb nerd movies with Bay explosions.

I actually think that the main reason Optimus loses to Sentinel is that it's dual sword vs sword and shield. Sentinel having a shield makes it extremely hard for Optimus to land anything.
When Optimus gets his arm cut off, it was because the shield was used to initiate a counterattack. Optimus honestly was really foolish to engage him at close range, he should've tried to disarm his shield first with a long-range weapon and then attacked.
Just a quick fight analysis.
Also Optimus was holding back to a degree. Sentinel was his mentor and even though he had to stop him he still subconsciously wasn't fighting at his fullest.

You know ranged weapons can't penetrate his shield, right? that's why megatron waits for the sentinel to drop his shield before shooting him multiple times
You can even see it when Optimus is just laying into his shield and not making much progress

Love or hate these movies, you have to admit one thing. Some of the deaths in this franchise are almost like the fatalities in Mortal Kombat. In this case how Optimus stuck a blade in Megatrons cranium and ripped his head out of his body with his spine still connected. Obviously it’s nowhere near as gory, but sometimes I hear the announcer’s voice from MK when I see a scene like this

When Optimus was outmatched & getting badly beaten by Megatron, Starscream, & Grindor, he refused to run away and chose to continue fighting. When Sentinel was overwhelmed by firepower from the Autobots & the humans, he tried to run away like a coward.
When Optimus was about to be killed by Sentinel, he wasn’t afraid to die. Sentinel showed fear when Optimus prepared to shoot him dead.

Optimus Prime's final battles are pure examples of how a superhero can be ruthless, show no mercy, take life and yet still be heroic; his brutal methods in taking down Megatron, Sentinel Prime, The Fallen and lockdown should be the golden standard that all superhero characters follow, if Batman, Superman, Spider-Man and others like them just put down their threats the way Optimus Prime has they wouldn't be dealing with that much severe consequences from the devastating aftermath of their villain's reprehensible deeds!💯😁😉👍

In the first movie Megatron was a nigh unbeatable badass that Optimus could barely hold off long enough for Sam to kill him with the All Spark. After that, Optimus became a god and Megatron became a joke. It's kind of sad.
