Hi Alex what do you think of the 2012 Acura TSX i4
Hey Alex, which tenth gen civic would you recommend that isn’t an si or a type r? Like what body style and trim is best for tuning?
Do civic 1.5t
hey! what about the 3.8 Hyundai genesis coupe? is that better?

Man, I gotta get my 3.8 street ready again. Things been sat for like 8 months.

Same here!
Thinking about getting one.
Bro I jus had the same thought the other day so I get this bihh washed and then a mother fuckin pothole the size of moon crater while one to work so now it's sitting again oh well tho shits the reason ya can't have nice shit in Stockton 😅
You have a car like this and just let it sit? Why
It is important to point out that the 2013 + 2.0T engines are better than previous years. Also, if you don't plan on modding it, the 3.8 could be a better choice but if you want mods and more HP go with the 2.0t
Its still a theta II engine which are dogshit. I work for Hyundai and the 3.8 and 2.0T are both equally shit. The best Genesis coupe ive seen was a 2jz-gte swap and a K swapped one. Both the 3.8 and 2.0 virtually have same issues. There transmissions do tend be solid though surprisingly. I will never understand why people like our cars when they are built like crap. Hyundai contracts the cheapest manufacturers. Hyundais prime was easily the 90s when they paired up witb Mitsubishi with their drivetrain makings.
@@midnight2moonlight200 for someone who "works for Hyundai" you sure seem to sleep on their products. Company is at its peak now. The 90s era was only notable for the mitsu parts like you already said and that wasn't special. Now they're building it "themselves" also not certain how "dogshit" they could be when they keep ranking high in reliability from both shill or bought sources and unbiased alike. Sounds more like you've just been super unlucky as to end up stuck working on what dogshit there is legitimately. Which... Would definitely give justification for your views. To say the least.
@@midnight2moonlight200idk what you’re smoking but my theta II is abused daily and is at 91,000kms with zero issues maybe stop sleeping under a rock.
@@MJT-DAhe is workong at hyundai as a janitor let him talk shit causehe clearly never driven a genesis
@midnight2moonlight200 the lambda ll 3.8 V6 has very little issues. If you neglect oil changes then u can end up with a bad timing chain. I've had my 3.8 for years and only had a issue with the starter (pain in the ass to replace) and that's it. Mine is a 2015 8 speed auto with well over 150k miles. 0 issues and 0 odd noises.
Have had my BK1 since 2012 brand new. I do have some mods and a tune. 92k miles later not a single problem. 😊 Love my Genny
The problem starts with finding one that has no mods and is kept with basic maintenance
I have one 2013 28k miles clean title. Interested?

Gen coupe owner here, have a 2010 3.8 with 129k miles on it, taken great care of it and have had no major mechanical issues! If you’re on the fence about getting one, do it!!
I would buy one for a daily driver, I could honestly care less about modding it. How is the speed in those things? Are they pretty fast, as in can you dip in and out of lanes from behind slow people if you need to?
@@andrearin8383 I also have a 2010 3.8 with about 115k miles, and yeah they're fast enough to have fun. 300hp but they do weigh quite a bit compared to similar sports coupes so keep that in mind. A similar car that would have better handling would be a gt86 or gr86 , but I really like mine and the power makes it fun.
Make sure to do some research on the different model years because there are pros and cons to picking different ones. I personally like my 2010 because I don't have to worry as much about carbon buildup on the valves because I have an MPI engine rather than the GDI that the newers ones have, but that also does mean a bit less power.
@@KontrolYT thanks for that info, at the same time I'm also looking into a mustang EcoBoost, I'm not a car enthusiast in the slightest but I do like muscle/sport cars and particularly ones that have pretty good power to them, I'm honestly trying to decide between the two.

Bought my 2013 2.ot FLOOD SALVAGE in 2015. It had 26k miles. I am at 148,000 now with 0 issues. I just maintain it with full synthetic oil changes and some seafoam every now and then to keep the injectors clean.

The 2.0t just screams "swap me!" IMHO. I've seen a gutted Genny coupe, its ample space. If you can find a solid body for cheap, hell, go sleeper 2JZ, maybe conventional K swap, or off the deep end with something like a drop in LSX.
2jzs fit really well in the genny, Plenty of room! Most people LS swap them though
TBF it's the same engine as in the Hyundai N cars. It simply just wasn't there yet
I'm in the works of installing a turbo to my 3.8 2015 just finished doing the timing chain assembly

I’m 48 and have never been any kind of a vehicle buff and had zero mechanical abilities. I saw a 2013 2.0T standard Genesis Coupe with a blown engine for sale at my local scrap yard and they happened to have a donner car with all of the necessary parts. I found a complete engine replacement video and said to myself, “I can follow a video tutorial” so I borrowed some tools from some friends (they thought I had gone insane) 105 hours later, I had the engine changed, everything fixed, licensed and drove it away. 🎉 I kept it for one winter (the absolute worst winter car I’ve ever driven) and part way into to the summer (best summer car I’ve ever owned - flashy and great fun, radio was excellent quality for my tastes ❤). I traded it for a truck I didn’t end up using much so I’ve put a ‘new to me’ Genesis back on my goal list. Next one I pick up will be a standard 3.8 and I found videos showing how to add the wide body kits and turbo charge it 🚀 I’m not going to let the next one go once I get my hands on it. I miss the thing every time I see one.

love my 3.8 BK2...I take very good care of it.
I’ve had my daily 2.0t bk1 for almost 2 years now, main thing for reliability is the oil viscosity. DO NOT USE 5w-20 because the cap says so. These turbo cars require 5w-40 and oil changes every 2500-3000 miles! And like many others I wish I went the 3.8 route, as it’s more reliable but much less aftermarket support if that’s what’re going for. But these cars are insanely underrated!
3.8 have worse timing chain issues & many more, 2.0 is the way to go.
As a Genesis Coupe owner I recommend a 3.8 since you can get a turbo kit for about 5k. You'll get about 450hp if it's a bk2 or 400hp bk1.

Similar dynamic to my MS6. Thats my car lol!!!!
Never push it above 20psi my guy! That way you can keep it good for long time.
Correction about engine blowing, it’s not true! The only reason why some gencoupes blew up their engine is because they’re pushing psi all the way up to 22 and more just to get higher numbers on the dyno, which is not safe anymore for stock internals. Been driving mine for 10yrs with only 20 psi max and never had issues with engine 🤷🏻♂️
Has a Hyundai tech at that time, there really wasn't anything that needed to be done. People were putting in stupid boost and blowing them up. It's an open deck with all alum everything. They are not really made for high HP. 350ish and then they needed to be sleeved and built. If anything the suspension geometry and weight are the issues.
The suspension geometry made for great drifting.
It’s really the only car I’ve seen hyudai make that follows traditional good body lines. Like the sonata looks like a slug and the veloster looks like a toad but that’s a real normal coupe that has nice lines.
I would swap something into the front, looks spacious for a LS or maybe Kei series

Due to the corporate average fuel economy stuff Hyundai needed to get all the mpg out of the car so they went with 5w20 on the oil cap 5w20 5w30 and 5w40 in the owners manual *1 has a very important statement for the 2010 model year. Engines started to fail from it not protecting the engine bearings said bye bye then rod knock. Then 2011 they said 5w30 and 5w40 in the owners manual but continued to put the 5w20 oil cap on the cars. Still to this day the owners put 5w20 or 5w30 in the car and never look in their owners manual to see that 5w40 is recommended for better vehicle performance that is what *1 has said since 2010. Engines from both the 3.8 and 2.0t fail and get posted on Facebook everyday.
Huge reason why I stopped buying coupes. Kids get them and run them into the ground in very short order and generally just act stupid in them. You simply can’t trust em anymore if you wanted to buy one. Plus a lot of them are fodder for theft. I drive a basic ass, no-attention-getting 40 MPG vehicle now. Love no longer being next to some idiot revving next to me with their Trap Music blasting out of their lil Challenger or 350z.
Oh shit its my car! I’ve got an R-spec. They really need help firming up the drivetrain, tranny mount and diff bushings at least… also mine had a bad 6-speed and apparently that is somewhat common… short shifter and new shifter bushings can help there. Just did all that plus single mass lightweight flywheel and it does drive amazing now… but I probably wouldn’t have got it if I knew the tranny was gonna go out on me. Oh yeah and they have one of the best sounding 4-cylinders I’ve ever heard once you put a catback on it. (Or full exhaust but I live in commiefornia and don’t want to swap shit every two years)
Also if you like getting sideways, the R-spec and Track versions are the ones that came with a LSD from the factory…. and brembo’s But you sacrifice cruise control which is slightly annoying and hardly seems like a huge weight savings.
Yoooo I got the sedan version R-spec, love it
On the upside you’ll be different from all the VQ boys and mustangs, you’ll develop a taste for k-pop (real girls are better than anime girls) and as long as you have the bk2 (second gen) you will be a bit faster than G35’s, I’ve left many an edgar cut having trombonist in my wake 😂
