I was working on the bench one day and my cat was at the other end laying on a pair of side cutters. I said "alfie, hand me those pliers" he looked around huh? Hand me those pliers you're laying on! he looked around, he KNEW I wanted him to do something but couldn't figure out exactly what. He was the funniest cat I ever had. Whenever I was building something he HAD to be involved. I've got pics of him sitting on a custom library ladder I built, inside the drawers of an armoire, sitting inside some kitchen cabinets, he always had to be involved. One time I had painted the underside of an MDF desk top I had made. I went out for lunch came back and there's cat prints across it. ALFIE!!!!! you little brat. I had to repaint it. I told the customer about it and she said "oh wow, you should have left them, that would have been a funny story to tell" (she was a cat person too).
I worked at a shop with a German Shepherd as a shop dog. I was her favorite tech and she would follow me around all day. I’d kick bushings across the floor and we’d play fetch that way. One time I was carrying rotors to the scrap pile and she comes up behind me with one I had left. We thought for sure she would break a tooth but from that day forward she always carried one for me. Don't you marvel at the way all those pieces and parts line up so that Tab D fits into Slot Q? All the intricate supports, screws, nuts, bolts and spars and pieces that fit together so well --- the engineering is amazing. Don't you wonder?

I used to have a 3 ft long screwdriver extension. Showed up to the construction site and all the "pros" were ragging on me about it. So we had to install drywall on the ceiling of a cottage we were renovating. A dutchman to hold the board up, me on the ground with my 3' extension, screws in the corners and a couple in the middle onto the next one. Then once all the boards are in place, I walked around putting the rest of the screws in. Hey how'd you board the entire ceiling in a couple of hours by yourself? 30 mins later every one of them was asking where I got the extension and if they could borrow it. lol Funny how the "know it alls" don't.......
Lol you should see my 08 civic the only place the clear coat hasn’t come off is the hood front fenders and bumper cover was repainted under warranty 10 years ago

The rumor is true! I have two black civics. They share the same body parts and color but the two cars are about as opposite from each other as you can get in almost every way.
I thought you were moving to Texas because you don't like the cold. We made the big move 30 years ago and moved from New South Wales to Queensland to get away from the cold. Only problem, the cold followed us and now the summers at too hot as well as the winters being too cold. Can't seem to win and just have to make the best of things.

The Civic has come a long way since it was basically a radio flyer wagon with an engine attached -- you know back in the day. There's probably not many of those left because they were extremely prone to rusting.

Biodegradable interiors. That's what we have in Texas. Self-removing paint is also a popular option, almost as popular as the "I've been within 1/4 mile of a gravel truck on the highway" (see also: broken in several places, FUBAR) windshield. That's why we scour midwest craiglist and marketplace for interior parts- because they still exist there lol

I like the land of make believe. It's the only place where I'm skilled, competent, and only have to do things once.
It's my favourite place as well. Plastics never break, bolts are not rusty, and nothing is on back order ever!

Windshield pox is a problem here in the Pacific Northwest too. They don’t salt the roads, but they do use gravel when it gets icy.
