Awesome. So sad that both Eric and Nanci have left this world now. Nanci had the most wonderful introductions and delivered them perfectly. This introduction is awesome - and James Hooker is cracking up there at the end of it x
I've seen Eric Taylor play at house concerts twice in the last few years. He is quite possibly THE greatest song-writer/musician/singer I have ever seen. He creates worlds, moods, and thought provoking feelings in a way no other artist can. He's like the well traveled, black-sheep uncle come to visit and full of stories. Find his albums, buy them, you will pat yourself on the back and your friends will be jealous. Um... guess I'm a fan.
I remember seeing Eric Taylor back in the olden days, 1972, 73, at the Old Quarter and Anderson Fair. Omgosh so many great musicians came through there back in the day.
We saw Eric perform a number of times between about 1984 and 1987, always at Anderson Fair. Sometimes he performed alone, and sometimes with a cellist or a bongo-percussionist, sometimes both. As I recall, there was a choice of coffee or red wine. My son was born at our apartment about 4 blocks east of there on W. Drew. We also saw Kate Wolf and her band there the same week they were on Austin City Limits, as well as Leo Kottke
I've been a huge fan of Nanci Griffith. I have always wanted to meet her and say, "Please don't hate me. My name is Eric Taylor." The really weird thing is, my mother was named Nancy as well.
I love Nanci and this was my first introduction to Eric Taylor - I've been a fan of his ever since. Great songwriter and he's a real nice guy also. I've met him several times at shows and enjoyed talking with him.
I have the album that it's on plus every cd of Eric's i could find my favorite singer/ storyteller.. may he find peace. Guy,Townes, Eric are at the top of my list
When Lyle Lovett refers to an "Eric Taylor" that was a "big help" to him in the early days...Is THIS that Eric Taylor? If so, does anyone have anymore of his stuff? Think he's great!
I wonder why Nanci never did remarry. I sometimes think she was maybe too gentle a spirit for any of the roughly hewn souls on this planet. She surely charmed everyone she came into contact with.
I read in one of the Irish papers she was engaged again but it fell through. I think she liked her independence. That and having cancer twice in late 90's took a great deal out of her. She was one of a kind.
@@michele21auntiem Yes,..I pretty much think you've hit the nail on the head, Independent/Cancer/Travel, it all takes a toll, sometimes being single works out best.

RIP Eric Taylor. I'm going to miss you and the music
Going to miss you! Hell of a singer/songwriter! You could feel some of the intensity of his difficult life in his lyrics. Very emotional!

They have a duet on Nancy's first album
Called dollar matinee
@@rennyskiathitis8178Eric wrote that one. The lyrics in that song are just… amazing. I can literally see it in my head.
R.I. P. Eric
thy don't come any closer to the heart than Nancy.
My favorite ET song too! Heard it years ago on this show, and have it recorded on video. Love Nanci's comment on marriage too! She's the best!
You can still see the love,....
i LOVE THIS VERSION!!! Big Love , Eric x
I wish someone had "Miss Virginia's Photographs" to post. That is my very favorite ET song...thanks for this though, it's fine...

Yes, it is THIS Eric Taylor. I was around in those days.
I feel the same way Nanc- ain't gonna share my room either!
Lyle is mentioned in THIS Eric Taylor's Wikipedia page, and web searching names songs of his that Lovett recorded
1990

when was this?
Does anyone know what year this was on Texas Connection?
Loni Duncan must have been the year he got married the second time, tho that date is not stated on his wiki page.
I believe that this was around 1990.
