Turns out one stick of RAM on my inspiron had a little corrosion on the connection port along with some gunk on the mother board so I used a drop of WD 40 on a small acid brush. Cleaned up everything, swapped out the sticks like you said, all checked out good.

    Hi, so are we saying that the only reason for the 4 white and 2 amber flashing- code is that the physical ram card is physically damaged and not some setting that needs addressing. What is the usual culprit for the ram card failure other than running over it or throwing it in the swimming pool? I wish I could show you the setup that gave me the 4W2A light code if I could only figure out how to include a picture here. I connected an REI HDMI splitter (hds-104) to my XPS USB . There's an UPDATE connection on the box. After joining the 2 devices, it immediately closed me out, I had a funky-looking screen for a minute, but now all I have is a blank black screen. I've disconnected the power, battery, and 2 ram cards. Sounds like I may have also shorted something, but would that cause the ram error also? Do you have any advice? Thanks

    • @EggheadFixers
      @EggheadFixers  3 года назад

      Typically it is a problem with the RAM or RAM port. There are a lot of different reasons RAM can fail. Power surge, it came with a flaw from the factory, overheating, etc. Is it giving you this 2 4 LED code? Also when you remove all the RAM and turn the computer on does it beep?

The adapter is working BTW green led is on when I plug it.. what part could be faulty?

    • @EggheadFixers

      Some laptops will not turn on without the battery installed. It depends on the model. Does the battery hold a charge? Sometimes repeated 1 1 blinking can mean the battery or the charger is faulty.

      It sounds like you may have a problem with your RAM. Do you have more than one stick? Can you try installing them one at a time?

    Hard to believe Dell doesn't create a video like this themselves. Thanks!

    Great video! Got a Dell Inspiron 14 3000 that flashes 1 blue quickly, the 2 amber, the 3 blue. Any leads on where I can find a resolution?

      Should add that removing and reseating the RAM didn't work. Haven't tried using a new stick yet.

      @@hermestrismegistus6421 Ya LED code 2 3 is a RAM error code so the next step would be try and replace the stick

      @@EggheadFixers I'm gonna try that next. What's odd is that there's no boot whatsoever, no bios, nothing. Just a black screen.
      Visually, the motherboard has no fried parts, but I haven't tested anything. I'll report back after trying the RAM
