*Starts playing taps* That was the most fateful day of all.
that was epic! Very sad obviously but very happy the sole survivor was able to rebuild a team and go fly back out over the skies of contested Europe to spread freedom and delicious British tea for everybody!
For the additional gun turrets that didn't have gunners, the B-17's upper turret was manned by the engineer, and the navigator and the bombardier operated the cheek guns. There was another upwards firing gun that was used by the radio operator that is that Spade shaped window on the top, just in front of where the waist turrets are. The Chin mounted turret would have been operated remotely by the bombardier but that was only introduced with final production B-17Fs and all subsequent models.

Hey baron, the reason there was no nose turret was because you start with an early f model and as you go through you may be able to get a nose turret like the b17g.
That twin-prop fighter that appears just after the 12-minute mark is probably a Messerschmitt Bf-109Z "Zwilling." It was made of 2 regular Bf 109 fuselages joined together with a new wing and tailplane. The pilot flew from the left cockpit, and the right one was faired over. The project was permanently abandoned in 1944. I love your videos!
For the final level they should have you play as the Enola gay

The b17 usually has 10 crew members
Its missing the copilot, but it makes sense for the game
actually only the b-17G Flying fortress had a 10 man crew, the b-17E &B-17E/L only had a crew or 8, they also didn't have the forward to guns in the nose XD
@@jackwils1813 Negative, only the earlier versions did not had a 10 men crew, the E, E/L and L did had guns in the front, but they were .30 not only that, but it didnt matter if they had guns or not, the nose was were the bombardier and navigators operated, and they where the one that manned the guns.
@@jackwils1813 - Wrong. B17-F had a ten man crew, as well as the nose gun.

The way to level up your crew in the middle of the battle is to fly through the waypoints that have an upward facing ⬆️ on it
Hey Baron, to lvl up your crew in endless mode, collect those power ups with the arrow; you looked straight at one when you were looking for other power ups at the end of the video

This B-17 at stock is able to do more to fighters than my maxed out bomber and crew on Warthunder.
Finally ooo finally finally finally FINALLY
One time i was playing as the brits, i had a full decked out crew, best gear, amazing plane, and it was just a simple bombing run, but there was flak fire EVERYWHERE. So i dropped the bombs, and the flak exploded the bombs before they could leave the bomb bay. My whole crew died in an instant, ands the plane was split into 3 parts, before it came crashing to the ground, nose dive.
kinda related story: i was playing as lancaster and the annoying bf 110 that goes under you and shoots you was under my bomb bay, and i was also on top of target so basically it was a bad day to be a bf 110 pilot. fortunately the bombs kinda just not exploded so i was fine, i destroyed the target too.

12:06 Those twin cockpit fighters are actually Italian! They are Savoia-Marchetti SM.92s. An experimental heavy fighter made in Italy. It has a remote controlled turret in the back which is why it was firing at you when it was at the front at 12:20

I am a big fan of b17s. My family never served in WWII but I am a big fan of history, so I love the game. Instead, my father served in the South Korean army as a tanker but never saw combat. I still think it is pretty cool.

16:30 That's the Messerschmitt Bf110, a night fighter version of it to be exact. These had very often 2 20mm or 30mm cannons fitted that fired upwards. This gun layout was calles "Schräge Musik"

When I got the USAAF I instantly made a bomber with a custom nose art named it after my dog and flew it it was called "Flyboi Buccaneer" (named after my dog) and the nose art was his face with pilot goggles and it had a very good crew with a improved flight gear for all of them and the flyboi flew 3 completely successful missions and outlived the 8th air force 3 month lifespan expectancy and then operation graff zepplin...because of the fact I didn't realize the stukas were launching and my pilot was crit it crashed into the ocean after that I got a new bomber called "the runner duck" and I expected it to be a suicide squad I didn't upgrade them too much and didn't touch the of plans then to my surprise...MISSION SUCCESS! After that I upgraded the plane a lot and then renamed it to "Suicide Squad" so that my story as of now! :)
I want to watch this, but I am not going to. Why? Because I already bought the season pass and I am waiting for this amazing DLC to come out on consoles.... in 2019.

Hey Baron i think the purple sphere that had the upward arrow was for leveling up the crew. I think you have to fly through it to get the abilities.
It’s an “F” version of the B-17. When the daylight bomber campaign started in late 1942 it was the bomber. The chin turret was added later on the B-17G. There were 10 crewmen, two pilots, bombardier, navigator were officers. The flight engineer manned top turret. Radio operator manned a flexible gun firing rearward behind the top turret, ball turret, tail guns, and two waist gunners.
It seems to have the offset waist turrets of the G as well.

The game is probably not trying to be super accurate but they did seem to do some research for it. B-17- E had no guns in the bombers seat. I think they were later added, but the bombardier had to slide the bomb sights out of the way and the guns into place to use them. The larger "cheek turrets" were part of the B -17 - F series but the bombardier on the F series had a permanent, swivel mounted 12.7 mm machine gun, so ... this is a cross breed B-17 E + F. The little bubble just forward of the cockpit wind screen was used for sighting stars for celestial navigation, but that didn't show up until the F and G series. Typically in the E series the bombardier manned one of the cheek guns until they were within range to the bomb target. He would then hand the gun over to the navigator so he could man the bomb sight.

Pro tip use lean ability as much as possible and avoid flat guns by using custom markers and use boost ability for getting out sticky situations how do I know that trust me I learned that the hard way
