This is a really cool looking helicopter, especially for Bell. I can't remember if I've ever seen another bell helicopter with a Fenestron tail or not, but I've always thought they look way more sleek than a conventional tail rotor. Usually Eurocopter was the main manufacturer that uses the Fenestron tail. Exciting stuff.
Looks like the Marine corps Cobra and the Army's Apache had a baby, and it's cute as cute can be. Can't wait to see the full capabilities of this awesome platform.
I can recognise my Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog joystick and throttle which are a replica of the USAF A-10C (great PC controllers for flight sims). It's kind of funny to see them here, also they appear on the movie Prometheus, lol
Thats really interesting cause it makes it a lot different front a standard helicopter. Where the cyclic is between your legs. I wonder if there's a learning curve for newer pilots or if they pick it up quickly. I love the design of the cockpit. I also have seen the sensors allow you to see thru the cockpit so which is interesting. My question is will that be integrated into a helmet or if the visor looking things were what the pilots would wear
What a beauty a Reborn Comanche! Smart to build in the possibility of remote control. Think we soon will see VTOL's drones with a cargo space that can be used to deliver supplies or carry back wounded. Would be a great asset to have on a drone flying support
What a sexy attack gunship for US Army aviation. Reminds me of RAH-66 Comanche and movie Airwolf. Dekhte hi pyar hojaye (In Hindi) means love at first sight.... muah! Love from India to US Armed forces.
Sikorsky has the S-97 Raider compete with the Bell+Textron 360 Invictus in the AAS / FARA (armed scout) program. Meanwhile, the Sikorsky+Boeing SB-1 Defiant competes with the Bell+Lockheed V280 Valor for the FVL (long-range lift) program. Given how the US defense industry works, it is likely that both companies get one contract each, to keep every factory running, everybody employed. So if you like both Sikorsky or both Bell designs, get ready for a disappointment. The Raider has troop capacity while the Invictus does not, but that gives the Invictus better stealth properties, just like the Boeing-Sikorsky RAH-66 Comanche had. Not sure why they abandoned that design. Just to push a common scout and transport design when they know it's not very likely they'll get both contracts? The V280 seems to be the more mature design, faster and longer range. But the SB-1 might offer better handling and safety, as it is not a tilt rotor. And it's smaller, closer to the Blackhawk size. This might really go both ways.
no rivets on this thing? is it all composites? does it have armor for pilot protection from small arms at least? i assume this is a floor model i guess for promotion only?
kinda makes you wonder why prospective contest entrants arent both chosen for their different medium actuate roles, like the f-23 / 22 was, likely a broader spectrum of possibles if both where used, its odd that only one is chosen when possibly a mixmatch model of each woud cover more scope
pretty sure this is how it went down @ the pentagon U.S. Army acquisition officer to commanders what kind of platform do you need? commanders we need one that does FAR A.
I just saw that no one acknowledge the throwback to the Blackhawk, not to be confused with the Black Hawk. =), I agree the wing does look similar, It'd be dope if it could do barrel roles like the S-67.
Soooooo......... No back up airspeed, alt, direction heading dials etc. if say I don't know the computer screen malfunctions, cracks, burns out or just in anyway just fails and shows a blank black screen. Very smart
The split collective is a bit confusing. Wonder what's going on there. And the stub wings, which are huge on this prototype, aren't carrying weapons or sensors, so why put them on there at all? I suspect the helicopter's performance would be greatly increased if these were removed.
Hate to say it, but you missed his comment at the beginning - At 180 knots, the wings provide 50% of the lift for the beast! THATS why they are there. And I agree, it looks very much like a Comanche Mk. 2 (bet if they put it into Production, thats what the crew will call 'em!)
@@WhiteWolf65 - Yep, you're right, I missed that bit. 50% of the load at speed is pretty significant. Hope to see her flying at some point, and hopefully adopted by the military. They'd be fools to pass on this one.

The gun will be a 20mm cannon designed to reduce drag. From what I read the U.S Army is still taking design concepts from aviation firms until May 15th.

As long as the touchpads work with whatever input the gloves on the pilots hand gives them there shouldn't be an issue.
