I wonder if ANYONE has EVER had the glorious experience of Baptism and subsequent growth that Pastor Gibson describes???
I think he is talking about the idea of baptism that goes beyond just being submerged in water. It's also when you submerge into Jesus's story. And that's where I can say yes to your question.
Before I knew Jesus, although I was a religious kid, I was quite judgemental, and had an austere attitude. But when I found Jesus, life began. It was the best thing I could ever have! Freedom, a path to emotional maturity; everything I could reasonably want in a fallen world.
We are as a baby needing to be fed. When you are baptized you go on a different journey. You are still a babe but you are becoming a toddler. Your growth will step up its pace and you will come to realize you are really His and realize that you are walking faster. As we really become aware of how great Of a freedom you have now from your past and that it is as if you now just have been born and have no past. With each step the Holy spirit impresses you to walk, study and grow free from the past into a new person. Just don't leave the study of the word (the Bible) in to much confidence and stop your walk or your learning. Because you can do that. Drink of His word and listen and do what you learn as you walk. Our enemy will trip you up by giving you doubt to tempt you with your past. Don't listen to discouragement and walk backwards. Look to your positive source which is Christ. Then get up and walk forward.
Growth is what we do. Sharing is what we do so others can gain that freedom you now have. The glory belongs to God and you WILL walk in his peace and joy automatically doing what He has called you to do. May you be blessed as you listen to Ty. It is like stepping out of a box and seeing freedom like you have never seen it before. Blessings in your new journey that Christ waits to give you.
The teaching on egocenticity vs love from 1 Cor 13 just blows me away. Painful to hear. I need to repent.
