- Here's something I just found.
Clips from "Hercules" Strikes Manhattan of "The Hercules Electrical Parade" as it moves up the streets o Manhattan which aired June 14, 1997
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and girls. As part of Disney's Hercules World Premiere Weekend in New York, The Walt Disney Studios Proudly Presents A spectacular pageant of nighttime magic and imagination. In thousands of sparkling lights, and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds, the Hercules Electrical Parade!"
Cues electrical parade music by don dorsey and lights go off matching the oscillator sound effects and two note bassline
wow thank you so much for sharing this! I was actually in the crowd for that parade and it was one of the most magical childhood New York moments I've ever experienced. it was truly surreal seeing all the light floats March down the New York city streets. A memory I won't soon forget.
The Hercules Floats were only temporary and were only made to last for that night
WOW I had no idea about this! Those Hercules floats looks spectacular, sad that they only lasted this 1 night. But man, I miss this version of the parade so badly :(
Chris Disney Hmmmm what's so good about this parade? Just wondering
Chibi Sting - Are you kidding? Have you never seen it live?
Chris Disney When you mean The Main Street Electrical Parade, then yes I love it with all my heart. I never knew about THIS parade on this video so I don't know what's so special about it
Chibi Sting - Oh, LOL, well I meant the parade in general. The only difference here is the Hercules float, and of course that it's not in Disneyland :p
Awesome!!!! I am so happy to have found this!!!! I was part of this parade event - it is a memory that will never leave me!!!! If my user name does not already give it away, I was inside that Dumbo costume. I have always loved the MSEP, from the time I first saw it as a kid. No Disney parade can or will EVER top it in my opinion. I was so thrilled to have been a participant for such a unique experience!!!
FYI - the Hercules floats were destroyed after this one parade!! Shame :(
I wish I was there but born in 2004
Hard to believe this happened 25 years ago Today.
0:22 listen to that crowd. This is what happens when people react to a electrical parade they never saw before.
Over 1.5 million along the parade route!
don't forget the building lights go out just like at Disneyland.
@@Cwilliam1999 except for the lousy sports at Warner Brothers who left their lights ON.
@@disneydanny2 if you look up some videos of Disneyland, Paris’s Main Street electrical parade from 1992 you’ll see the Disneyland Hotel lights were on
This is recorded on June 15, 1997 during the release of Disney's Hercules.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, inspired by Disney's hercules opening weekend in New York, the Walt Disney studios proudly presents a spectacular pageant of nighttime magic and imagination. In thousands of sparkling lights and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds: The hercules electrical parade.
I worked at the Disney Store that was at 42nd Street back then next to Amsterdam Theater. The massive crowd that went into the store after the parade finished was a hurricane! It was like Christmas Eve but on steroids. That massive crowd kept coming in for hours and you could barely move around. A fun memory though! I loved watching the excited reactions from the crowd during the parade. This was such a wild exciting event for NYC. For a lot of people there (including myself) they had never been to the Disney parks so this was a really nice treat for New Yorkers.
Wowzas! I remember watching this on Disney at the time it aired. Thank you for this!
3:30 THAT CANT BE MORE INCORRECT!!! THATS THE SECOND TIME IT PERFORMED OUTSIDE A DISNEY PARK! The first was on January 2, 1978 at the Orange Bowl
well, to be fair, that wasn't really a parade in the Orange Bowl performance since it only featured a few of the floats and more of synchronized dancing with lights to make patterns. Right here it's an actual parade with all the floats and characters.
One other tidbit of info - the girl who was Cinderella is now a Host on QVC!!!
WOW :O
This most be the only time that Walt Disney had a parade not withing a Disney Park :O
Amazing! thanks for posting.
Disney should do this again!!
Tokyo, Disneyland, electrical parade, dream lights.
I remember being there at age 7 :')
Okay is it just me or is Pete an actual child on top of elliot?
Yes
And now HERCULES is in the works of coming to Broadway!!! So excited!!!
I flew in from Paris (as I'd left DL in 1994) to do one of the Cinderella court dancers (I'm in the teal costume). My last Electrical Parade was in 1993 and when they brought out the costumes for this event, my original nametag was still in the collar!
I got to dance in 42nd Street!
I honestly never knew about this until now. This is an amazing parade and I rate it 8 outta 8 m8 :)
interesting fact: this was the last time Lampwick was seen in the parade in the U.S. although many people aseem to THINK he re-appeared as a face character when the float was added to the paraade at DCA, after consulting some freinds in the Parade department at Disneyland, i can ofically debunk that rumor
I know the guy who was the only person to play Lampwick as a face character at DL. We both worked in parades at the time.
I miss any version of lampwick in the park, now we’re loosing almost all of the Pinocchio characters as well which is just sad because old school Disney is just as important as new.
@@lohphat neat
Hi me turtle with glasses
In the Finale Parade in DisneyLand, Alice, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Snow White, and Pete all talked, not just Alice and Pete...
Mikey they also have Pinocchio
i remember being at this parade. thanks for uploading
This and a video from 2020 in Tokyo, Disneyland, are the only ones to not feature Casey Junior, and to have Mickey and Minnie stand in the finale😊 9:09
Only casey jr was missing😢
@Disneydanny The parade route in DL in California is only 22 minutes long. This parade almost lasted 2 hours IIRC and we needed costumers to walk beside us and change batteries every 30 minutes. The floats were not designed to run this long and they needed to use the motorized tow tugs to finish the parade.
@disneydanny2 Floats use standard automotive lead wet cells and are recharged between parades. Many of the floats needed to be towed the rest of the event when the batteries died. The use small diesel/LNG-powered tugs.
Does anyone remember or have footage of the crowd singing itsy bitsy spider before the show? lol
Thankyou so much for posting this :)
Thank You For Uploading This
So they made a Hercules float and only used it for one day? Tf? That should've been a staple float after that.
I love it! Thanks for sharing
WOW.. Thanks for posting :-) I'm happy to say.... I was part of this history making event.
I was down there i remember being down there by the waner brothers store a magical night for me
I can't wait for the Paint the Night Parade
If paint the night comes to NYC this would be as popular as the Macy's parade.
I was here fighting to keep my place in the audiecend
Disney should've saved these new Hercules floats for four more years, and then they could have been used in the Tokyo Disneyland electrical Parade Dreamlights Parade.
Hadies has reached the history book as the first disney bad guy in the electrical parade
National Sarcasm Society what about Captain Hook in Peter Pan?
Elliot Rodger true
Hold up, Dumbo's eyes moved in this?? They've HAD that technology before?? What? O-O
Rebecca Evans The technology the the mascots can able to move their mouth and eyes have been used by Disney since the 80's.
The crowd sounds like yah know those things that make the laugh tracks? It sounds like that but with clapping
@lohphat speaking of which any idea how long a parade float battery lasts before they get replaced?
I just want to know how Disney managed to turn off 7 blocks worth of lights in New York City. Like - ummm - what
Main Street electric parade in New York
They also did a version of the Electrical Parade at the 1978 Miami Orange Bowl. It was also pretty spectacular! I recommend checking it out watch?v=gq7qto0VoJg
Does someone have the link to the full documentary "Hercules" Strikes Manhattan ??? thanks
I couldn't understand the vocoder. Could you tell me what it said, please?

Cue music
@@iristoro7051 and lights go off
How come after the 2 totally awesome Hercules floats there are other floats that are NOT Hercules related. Don't get me wrong, the floats are totally awesome especially the Alice in wonderland floats but still the parade is called The "HERCULES" Electrical Parade. Couldn't they just use the floats from the Zero to Hero parade and put lights on them. I'm just saying.
can you upload the whole broadcast?
what i don't understand is why something has to be pulled out of the parade in order to put something else in. I mean... is it because of time constraints or something?
not true my friend in 1978 disneyworld took the electrical parade to the orange bowl
1:36 - Actually I would LOVE it if I'm with Pain and Panic for all eternity, that would be SO AWESOME!!! XD And Pain and Panic are NOT stiffs!! >=( Their the opposite of boring!! To me their the definition of FUN!!!
