I have sailed on that river and its very cold even in the summer.
I watched the real time sinking and it was terrifying as the ship was entering the final plunge people screaming for help as it sinks to the bottom of the river its hard to see it go down like that and somone said that she sank 3 hours away from the quebec city and he said he finds that chilling

It sunk 2 years 1 month and 2 weeks after the titanic sunk
The Empress of Ireland was a Royal Mail Ship owned by the Canadian-Pacific Railway. She was built alongside her sister ship, the RMS Empress of Britain. The Empress of Ireland had made 95 voyages before her sinking. She left Quebec City on May 28th, 1914. The hours right before the fatal collision, passengers were enjoying the luxurious accommodations aboard the ship. Most notably, The First Class dining saloon and music room.
The video shows exactly what happened in the early morning of the 29th.

The h that crashed into the Empress of Ireland looks a lot like the Carpathia the ship that saved Titanic survivors
It was the cargo ship SS Storstad
The bow of the Storstad had a reinforced bow to help it break through ice, so that is why the Storstad was able to slice such a big hole in the side of the Empress.
The Storstad was damaged but stayed afloat

Yeah. Both ships met the same fate.
Major differences is that the Andrea Doria took almost 10 hours to sink and only about 40 people were killed. The Empress of Ireland went down in 14 minutes, killing 1,012 of the 1,477 people who were on board.

All that ocean and these 2 boats manage too collide?! I can never understand how. It’s like being hit by a train … 🤦🏻♂️… unfortunate results however .. it could have easily been avoidable
The disaster did not happen in an ocean. It happened in the St Lawrence River. Thick fog rolled off the shore and across the water, causing the ships to lose sight of each other. The crews became disorientated by the heavy fog which is why the ships collided

Well Titanic was built in Ireland so Titanic is the Titanic of Ireland. Also the Empress Of Ireland was not built in Ireland and serverd a Canadian line.
