25 Sega Genesis baseball games - 25 home runs All footage was recorded from authentic cartridges on an original Sega Genesis. Part 2 of a 4 part series.
@bsg4000 Yeah I love its sound chip. I had to ask about that track because the guitar didn't sound like anything I had heard before on MD, and it turns out it was sampled instead of FM synth which is a very rare thing for MD games. Thanks for uploading the track.
Great post!! Amazing how many baseball games there have been over the years, this is just a fraction of them. It's funny too how great you thought they were at the time
I forget which game it was, but I used to play one at my buddy's house where, when you were pitching, you could tap a button to shift your infield players. The game had an announcer too, so every time you would change their positions, it would say "infield out," "infield in," and then "infield normal." It actually made for kind of a nice beat, so we'd just hit the button over and over in the middle of a game and dance to the announcer's rhythm. We were such dorks.
ARRRGGGHHH. THat slow-ass Home Run Trot from WSB95. Even you had to speed up the footage for that, it was so slow. Imagine playing a game or a season and having to endure that everytime. I couldn't play the game cause of that. GLad SEGA reversed to the original scoreboard celebration for the next games.
I remember playing the Cal Ripken baseball one. I was messing around with the controllers, mashing random buttons & all... Then somehow I came up with the "ALL-CAL TEAM"😮😮 a full line up of nothing but Cal Ripkens. 😊
Super Baseball 2020 . . . it's now 2019. It's funny how people really thought the future would be 30 years later. Honestly, outside of the internet, HD TV, and smartphones, it's pretty much the same.
I love how you had to fast forward through the World Series Baseball '95 home run trot, because it's incredibly slow and there's no way to exit out of it...all you can do is cartwheels and fist pumps and stuff lol...so annoying
@DarkToasty07 at least in the cartridge days, developers didnt have much of a choice. in the modern day of memory cards, hard drives and internet connections, things like roster updates could be made available for cheap or even free.
I'm wondering if you guys can help me, even though I have a hunch which game it is (WSB). It was a baseball game with cartoony displays on the scoreboard when something happens: As an example, when a batter strikes out, the scoreboard runs a "footage" of a batter walking away sadly and there is a raincloud unloading rain on him. Was this "gig" part of the WSB franchise, or another one? Thanks for the response in advanced!
Well I'll be damned if I understand the baseball rules. I only know what a homerun is, but other than that, nothing else. Why are they running in circles, to whom they should throw the ball after catching it, idk. I wish someone could explain.
If they hit the ball forwads and nobody catches it, and they arrive to a base before the ball does, they're not out. Otherwise, they are out. If they complete a circle they win a point, and the team with most points wins. That's about it.
Wow, all those baseball games for Genesis and not ONE good one from the bunch (or any 16-bit system for that matter). Not one game has a combination of decent batting, defense, pitching and running. World Series Baseball came close, but it's so glitchy. If the 16-bit era kept it simple like R.B.I. Baseball, but with better graphics, it would have been all good. Great video though :)
There were a TON of baseball games on the NES, stuff like Baseball Stars were pretty awesome, and there were even enough baseball games that never left Japan. Genesis had one too from Namco, Kyukai Douchuuki. That Namco one is an arcade port, still fun, but the nice scaling effects from the arcade version are gone.
Dude, I wrote that 12 years ago. I forgot all about it. I think what I was trying to say was, in the days of Nintendo, the fielders were too slow, in some games, making it almost impossible to catch a fly ball.@@Bloodreign1
That robot triumphantly circling the bases with his arms up is one of the most hilarious things I think I've ever seen in a sports video game.
Hardball is sich an underrated series. Loved Super Baseball 2020 and the WSB games. Thanks for the video! Great memories.
Sports Talk Baseball will always be the best ball game for Sega
LOVE the R.B.I. '94 game on this system!!!
Pretty much ALL R.B.I. Baseball games.

Surprised they were making games into the late '90s - with Tampa Bay and Arizona in them, no less! - for the Sega GENESIS.

@Boss11212 that was badass 16-bit crowd noise. there was nothing sounding like that on the NES in 1989.
@Chubzdoomer one of the ea baseball games had players constantly spit, and for whatever reason they felt they needed a bad sound effect to go with it.
Baseball stars 2 was it for nes. Put that code in and get a bunch of money and make your own team
me gusto el home run de triple play 96
Thumbnail is a jam shot lol

Thank god they don't look like this now.
I know these game might not seem like much now. But, before that, all they had was Nintendo Baseball! Talk about crap! Those game's were useless.
