You are right on with that. That’s why I’m very skeptical on this, they have very little experience with EV’s. The issue I have is with Stellantis. Everything they make is crap, I do agree this one looks sweet
Exactly what´s needed for the offroad adventure. Just pack the tent, the kit, a mountain bike, take some extra solar panels along and it can charge all day somewhere in the wilderness while fishing, camping and having fun about.
A weekend maybe. How many solar panels and inverters will you need to charge it in a day? Hard to know given the specs on battery size isn’t given. 3tonne vehicle with the aero of a house brick and 640km equals huge battery capacity. Why are the specs left out?
@@NoiserToo At this point they should. But all the cost and opportunity costs that went into the Cybertruck are pretty high. At least they can use the tech they developed for it in other cars too. The pickup truck market is huge, so a more conventional pickup product is also warranted.
The main thing wrong with Jeep and EV is that it is pretty much guaranteed to be 100% software garbage. Imagine being worse than VW software. That is Stellantis/Jeep. There is a reason why VW threw in the towel and bought Rivian modules and software recently. Jeep should do the same- buy Rivian modules and software as Rivian has proven their software is rock solid and just works in the real world. Just look at the tragic Charger EV rollout to see how bad the Jeep Recon is likely going to be as far as software and drive system.
The 4xe is remarkably efficient for being so boxy. I'm sure they won't get the distance claimed, but it's not impossible. You just need more battery. That means a worse handling vehicle and worse charge times but there's no reason they can't do it.
Maybe in city but even smaller SUV's consume 25-30kwh per 100km in higher speeds so for 600km there should be almost 200kw battery😂. That just shows how unhinged these electric evangelists videos are sometimes.
If fast charging stations were ubiquitous maybe 600km of range is good enough, but it's about 430km now with the new highways from my place near Toronto to my sister's place near Sudbury. That's probably the largest city furthest north, that's maybe 20% of the length of just Ontario. You can travel across Canada from coast to coast, around 8000km which can be completed in about 100 hours of nonstop driving. Not having high speed charging infrastructure or battery swapping, this will make long road trips much longer, never mind trying to find stations in rural areas or national parks. Also temperature can effect range and speed, we can get -40°C just in Ontario.
Greetings from Spain. I live in the north in a town of around 12k. Over the last few months, 4 new jeeps appeared in my town, two EV's and 2 hybrids, all of them renegades. There must be some of kinda offer for them. There's only one Tesla and around 20-30 other EV's but there are a lot of hybrids. I'm surprised that they are putting in chargers all over town. We went from 2 to 15 since summer and everyday I see them putting in more but... most people just don't have the cash to change cars.
Electric motors with a single gear need to compromise the low speed torque at the wheels in order to deliver an acceptable top speed. So the key question is - does it have a gearbox offering low range?
Yes, great boxy shape but at 70,000 or so in the US is too expensive. Companies like Xpeng or Geely can make EV's so cheap with better software why buy anything else?
You're right, it does look like a Bronco, but in my opinion, better. The only Bronco I think looks in proportion is the two door. Hopefully, Stellantis can do something about the build quality and reliability.
My daughter who lives in Perth WA has just got rid of her Jeep because it was unreliable, expensive to repair and the spares were almost impossible to get. She was given the impression that Jeep were retreating from the Australian market. They used to have a very reliable Land Cruiser for towing so she's replaced the Jeep with an Izuzu. Her husband on the other hand has just bought a Model Y performance - their first EV.
It’s a shame Jeep isn’t big enough to survive by it’s self. Every past owner has screwed the legend. Recon’s pricing in Australia could cause it to fail. The US dollar is too strong for the Aussie.
1:59 into it and you are done. Two words "Jeep" + "Mexico" Jeep has had massive quality fails for years, when the production was moved to Mexico it nose-dived further. This would be a very expensive lemon.
when you set a price on a car so high that you can buy 2-3 other cars for the price of one car then you lose. and you also exclude 70% of the market and in some countries exclude 98% of possible buyers due to car taxes.
Guessing there will be range extender versions also. Might even come out first in USA...haha. I'm waiting for the REVs to hose over all the BEV fanbois...haha.
💯. After years of development, they come out with that piece of trash Cybertruck. No vans, no SUV, no decent pickup trucks, and no affordable smaller cars. In Canada, the Long Range Model 3 AWD is $62,500, which is outrageously high fod what you are actually getting. I can buy a Camry for around $30,000. Tesla: too expensive, too few options.
Yes, sharp looking vehicle - make it an ICE vehicle and I’d buy it! But…..Jeep’s (and Stellantis) have an MSRP problem and they are in for a Major price correction.
Jeep often times over estimates there gas mileage. I have many friends with Jeep Wranglers and they are rated 18/23/20 MPG city/Hwy/combined, and they all say they only get around 14/15 MPG. The 4 door version has a 21 gallon fuel tank, and if you run it until the fuel light comes on, you've used around 17 gallons. So your really getting around 250 miles on a tank. If this electric vehicle gets at least that it would be fine.
Approximately 150 000 Jeep 4Xe's recalled after a battery exploded while one was parked in a garage. Models 2022 to 2024. A range of 400 miles? Does that take into account real world use at highway speeds, headwinds and very high or low temperatures and extreme off-road use. Manufacturers' range claims are questionable.
