I PURCHASE ONE AS SECOND HAND FOR THE FIRST FEW DAY WAS A PROBLEM TO OPERATED BUT AFTER I WATCH SOME YOU TUBE VIDEO AND SHOW HOW TO USE IT. NOW I MAKING THE BEST COFFEE IN MY LIFE. MY GRADE TO CUISINART BURR GRIND N BREW 12 CUP COFFEMAKER IS A A PLUS. THANK YOU FOR YOU VIDEO. NOW I ENJOY THE UNIQUE COFFEE MADE.
IMO, this is one the the best coffee makers, particularly the thermal carafe version DGV-900BC.
Remember that these are burr grinder based machines, which is important to have the correct sized grounds for this type of brewing. There is another kind that just has an indiscriminate blade that chops up coffee beans into a mishmash of sizes -- not the kind you want.
I has been wisely designed in anticipation of all its functionality and use.
I had a unit for 8 years, and now it is showing its age and jams with wet coffee. It has been a trooper for all that time, now I will be getting the thermal carafe version.
I strongly recommend this.
I enjoyed mine for ~5 years. The rubber seals on the wheel started to fail, causing the wheel to misalign. The brewing coffee would miss the hole and dump all over the counter making a huge mess. Also, flavored beans will gum up the grind chute below the burr grinder. This is because the flavor is sprayed on the outside of the beans. It's sticky. I switched to a machine w/o a built in grinder.

I threw mine away... Repeated problems with the chute clogging up after only two pots brewed and, sometimes the chute hatch not opening at all, thereby packing ground coffee back into the burr mill. Cuisinart sent me a replacement (charging only $20 for shipping) but after a couple of months I had the same problems. I think they were trying to deliver too many features at a relatively modest price. I've already spend my money, I didn't want to waste any more of my time. I bought a Capresso and now grind my own coffee each night. Works like a charm.

My grinder stopped working and need to know how to fix it?
My unit is a year old......
You can adjust how much coffee to grind, but you can't adjust how much water to use. If you only want two cups of coffee, better only fill it to 2 cups. this machine will use ALL the water in the reservoir. The carafe is awkward but it seems like it was designed so you don't pour the the last 5% of fluids. For $400 it just seems annoying that I have to refill the water it after each use.

Used for 1 day....now its will not use the beans!!!!
