One of the most beautiful moments I've experienced in footy was last weekend right at the end of the match when Merrett passed it on to Hepps. I don't know why exactly but it was just amazing, I can't put it into words
The sad truth is, that in spite of a horrible 7 weeks for Geelong, they will lift big-time against Essendon. They always do. Only a truly improved Bomber side can win. Toss a coin.
Tbf tom hawkins usually kicks 6 on us, unfortunately hes injured, fortunate for how this game could turn out, he might not have kicked so many anyway since we have mckay, last year we had no big backman on a big forward
This is a game we simply must win if we're gonna be genuine finals contender rather than making up the numbers as we have usually been before. Geelong are in poor form and have some missing players and we get the luxury of playing them on our home deck despite it being their home game. Dangerfield is in after successfully overturning his suspension but Hawkins out frees up Ridley to play on someone like Neale which frankly should be a massive mismatch favouring us. I think this game will be won and lost in the battle between their Defensive 6 vs our Forward 6. If we tag out Stewart as all teams should be doing now then I genuinely can't see anybody on their squad being capable of either effectively moving the ball out of D50 or containing Stringer, Wright and Langford. This match will show where we really are, the media are hyping us up at the moment locking us in for a Prelim berth, I don't have that same faith at this moment but beating Geelong this weekend is a non-negotiable for team who is looking to have that sort of finals impact.
@aussie_al well then you don't watch fox footy. Gerard Healy, Dicko, Huddo and a bunch of others are on the bandwagon. Again, I'm not saying the same thing, just pointing out the external expectations are there
@jaydenatkin7241 Yeah they're all jumping on board. I was just saying that i hadn't heard Prelim. You and i know very well that we have a long road ahead. Cheers. Go Bombers
Spread their defence & do not allow Tom Stewart to dictate, pretty much the blueprint against Geelong, not rocket science. Have to win it at the coalface, have to kick straight as well.. drive Danger (afl loverboy, tribunal lovechild) into the turf & signal the end of his dominance over us
We will win because we are just better! If we come to play like we have all year we are better. We are not 3rd on the ladder for doing nothing. From here on in, till seasons home and away finish I feel an inner confidence. Go Bombers 🔴 ⚫️
Even as a Carlton supporter I've been huge on essendon all year but im telling you now that if I don't see Durham, Caldwell, Merret and Draper smashing into Dangerfield at every opportunity then im off the train haha. I hope you've all been enjoying Nate Caddy he is somthing special
As Felix so rightly points out, match ups are key. Kelly to Miers, body him hard. McGrath on Stengle. Rids on Cameron, Guelfi on Stewart. Duzz on Danger. Win or break even in those match ups and we will win.
i think the bombers will get up, the boys will get it done for dyson. hawkins has always feasted on the bombers so without his firepower the cats forward line looks less threatening. I dont envy Bad Scott and the selection choices he has to make, im sure it will be mind games trying to predict what his brother will be doing as well. but i think either jones or wright should be dropped as neither has shown anything in the past few weeks, bring goldy|brian back in as deKoning will be too much for our rucks if they are solo.
Sam DeKoning isn't anywhere the level of Tom DeKoning(Blues) when it comes to rucking; Draper solo will do just fine. Goldy has been terrible the last month and there's no need for two rucks if the weather is slippery imo
Nah Sam Dekoning isn’t as explosive as his brother. Id say keep jones in because he can play up on that wing and did really well. And Wright won’t be dropped because he usually takes the best defender on the team to let stringer and langford do there thing.
@@rustyhobbzy1973 its a good point with wright, but draper just off an injury it wouldnt hurt to give him some back up against the more mobile rucks. But as @Alby911 said, it might depend on weather, if its raining we wouldnt want to be a tall team with two rucks however wright and jones arent small either. might make a case for alwayn davey jnr to make a return in the wet?
@@wenisman Gresham will come in before Davey but really depends on the weather. Either way, we have good selection headaches for once; I think this time last year the injuries slowly started to pile up. Touch wood it's our turn for a good run until the end of the season and beyond
We didn't challenge Jones' suspension though, but I doubt he would've gotten off. The only way players should ever be suspended if serious injury occurred. It's an absolute joke that the sport is ran by monkeys
Can’t believe we outed a up and comer with caddy for a on field coach in godly, bringing kids in and out is a way to ruin their confidence, can’t understand it! Godly has his role this year as a Draper backup while training up Bryant however playing week on week out isn’t one of them, it’s like Scott has promised him something
After watching Brad’s press conference for this week, here is what I think will happen: Goldy in Caddy out - one if Wright, Caddy and Jones will have to make way. Given he’s only played 2 games I think it will be Caddy. Wright to stay up forward and Jones to the wing. Gresham in Cox out - Could be Jones, but considering he had less touches than Jones and looked to jarr his knee before coming off, wouldn’t be surprised if he was managed/played VFL this week. Lastly, we might bring in another midfielder to improve our clearance/contested efforts which could lead to: Setters/Hobbs in Menzie out Hind sub
I said a few weeks back that GCS and Carlton were litmus tests for the Bombers, and they were but in both games the bombers gave themselves the opportunity to win. The next three matches, starting with Geelong, will be a similar reality check. I think with the current short injury list the bombers have every chance of winning against Geelong. Bombers by 22 points
All signs are pointing to a bombers win...That's why I think it will be the cats by 15 pts.If kelly plays hopefully it's on stengle...He can be a liabillity elsewhere.

Just imagine how much more meaningful a Heppell snag would be this weekend
That's so sweet .....

The past 4 games we have lost to them is all due to tom hawkins mismatches.
@Lmclean89
BZT was never a good match up.
@@aussie_al never
@Lmclean89 & now that we finally have the match up he is out, hope someone else does not bob up & have the day out of their career against us

I haven't heard anyone hype us up to play in a Prelim. All I've heard repeatedly is that we have not beaten anyone of note other than GWS.

Ben Dixon's comments have set us up to be destroyed by the media if we were to fall, he knows what he is doing :P
Tom Hawkins being out is massive. He always kicks big bags against us so to have him out is good
Getting McKay to match up on him solved that imo
@@gerardleach8943 possibly. I just hope we can win it and cement ourselves in top 4
Dangerfield always loves being BOG against us also. At least we have one thing in our favour. It's not being played at Alphabet Park.

Put an * on this game for the Dangerfield protection privilege
The only think left to complete the farce is for the AFL to issue danger their sincerest apologies.
Another one
Jack Henry must be good being FF & FB
Put him down for 5 goals and 15 intercept marks
