- SCP 096 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as The Shy Guy.
SCP-096 is a humanoid creature measuring approximately 2.38 meters in height. Subject shows very little muscle mass, with preliminary analysis of body mass suggesting mild malnutrition.
SCP096's jaw can open to four (4) times the norm of an average human.
SCP096 is normally extremely docile, with pressure sensors inside its cell indicating it spends most of the day pacing by the eastern wall. However, when someone views SCP-096's face, whether it be directly, via video recording, or even a photograph, it will enter a stage of considerable emotional distress. SCP-096 will cover its face with its hands and begin screaming, crying, and babbling incoherently. Approximately one (1) to two (2) minutes after the first viewing, SCP-096 will begin running to the person who viewed its face (who will from this point on be referred to as SCP-096-1).

When day breaks was the first scp that actually horrified me. Shy guy was just popular, but still good. Putting them together like this yielded sad, but heartwarming results surprisingly.

When Day Breaks is actually one of the most horrifying SCP in the entire SCP multiverse.
If SCP 096 can be affected by this, then almost other SCPs are not remotely safe from this Apollyon-class apocalypse.

I like how this plays into the theory that 096 is actually sentient and fully conscious, but is a prisoner of his condition, a super natural condition which fills him with murderous rage when someone sees his face. This story not only plays along with that theory, but greatly humanizes 096. It’s just such a shame it’s a tragic tale of adoption and heroic sacrifice.
I like to think that 096 was once a human, but turned into the shy guy over time as a defence agasint that one Hiker SCP on mount everest that kills those it percieves as challanging it.

The ultimate point from that was that SCP-096 is way more dangerous because any number of photos out there are waiting to have the tiny pixel noticed.

This feels like a fanfiction, and this is like one of the good ones I read, too. I kinda felt happy for him when he decided to be the girl's protector til the end, and the end part was kinda sad.

I always wondered why they never tried to put blind D-class with him, they could co-exist amicably and gain more information on it than by just trying to kill it.
What makes me very sad at the end is that unfortunately the little girl more than likely died. Even if he managed to protect her, the other creatures can just mimic 096 and lure her out again.
Even if they don’t she can’t get anything to survive. No water or food so she’ll starve or die from thirst. She also may just wonder into the sun by herself.

What a wholesome story. Sad, but wholesome. I actually feel bad for the shy guy now. Note that SCP 001 When Day Breaks is a much infinitely bigger threat than the Shy Guy, but this story shows him in a whole new light. It's tender, touching, wholesome, yet so somber and bittersweet. At least he finally got some rest in the end.

@@lenixkalazar3086 the point is he only felt that rage when someone saw his face, it wasn't even his choice, he's just like that by nature, this story shows that he isn't just a heartless monster, and he most likely doesn't actually want to kill anyone, but when someone sees his face his instincts take over.

SCP-096 was probably a human, but maybe because he was found in a mountain, this could mean SCP-096 got heavily affected by frostbite, hypothermia and other cold condition-caused diseases. SCP-096 was permanently left pale with one thought in his head, loneliness. He would be triggered for interruption, but the fact that just something could reactivate his other feelings, could be a possibility.
He was a professional mountaineer, he was climbing Mount Everest but while doing so he encountered the King Of The Mountain SCP, who made endless cliffs for him to climb and that’s how the mountaineer became the shy guy. His behaviour is explained like this: he thinks that every person’s gaze is the same gaze as the horrifying mountain king he saw on the mountain prior to turning into a monster, people making eye contact with him angered him cuz he thought he was still seeing the mountain king wherever he went and whoever he saw

He's basically making a whole When Day Breaks storyline, not just loose stories. I love his content.
I think the reason why 096 covers his face and cries when someone sees it is because he doesn’t want anyone to see it because he knew that when that happened he would kill them. When a D-Class took a picture of him in the camera of desires, they saw nothing, hinting that 096 doesn’t want to exist so that humans will live in peace.
The middle of this got pretty wholesome. I love when SCPS that the foundation hates with a gut have wholesome moments (like SCP-682 and the little girl.)
From the story told it sounds like he got weaker as time went by without people looking at him for an extended period. Most stories describe him as stronger than meme-Chuck-Norris and faster than Sonic on meth. Able to throw himself out of Earth's gravity field with a single jump. Yet here he's actually needing to dig through concrete instead of just plowing through it. He's forced to pursue at a fast walk instead of torpedoing around. He's actually concerned that someone is capable of getting away from him when that's NEVER happened before.
Yeah, this story makes his character more "grounded" if you will. But I think it's better this way.
He even lost his immortality! (I say that because in he's battle with the hard-too-destroy reptile he was reduced to bones and survived)

096 as an entity isn't an evil, malicious being, with intent to kill, murder, and eviscerate.
Its just that whenever it's face is seen, a switch flicks like some kind of animalistic response. The same way cats hate water.
It's anxious, nervous, and genuinely frightened to have other people see its face because it hates being filled with this intense rage. Capable of semi-sentient bonds with things, the same way an elephant will often naturally protect a human body (dead or asleep)...
Genuinely, a pretty sweet dude and one hell of a damn bodyguard.

This was such a surprisingly wholesome story considering it is an scp story which is rare. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least 10,000 people cried at the end.
*sigh* who would have guessed, the first SCP story to make me literally cry would be one from 096. This one definitely backs up what seems to be a growing idea though that 096 is not pure evil and purely animalistic - that he's tragically bound to some condition beyond any control that forces his blood-fueled rage states... that the constant crying is the worst kind of utter remorse and dread for more lives lost to it. And now it's reviled that he's also capable of love, compassion, and a selfless act. I was oddly happy in a way that he finally died in the end. I mean, his greatest desire always was to simply disappear...
When Day Breaks is the only anomaly that really gets to me because it offers absolutely no hope whatsoever.

The scariest thing about it is you don't die, you stay alive when you turn into the mass and join with others, you feel an undying and un leaving need to join with other masses and make people go into the sun and melt, but you still keep your conscious deep down like you're trapped in a cage and can't get out as your body moves to kill and kill. I don't know exactly where but I've heard if you kill yourself they'll revive you and take you to the sun.

I always kinda felt bad for 096, I mean, imagine hating having your face being seen so much that you’d rather have those who see you die than remember what you look like. It sounds awful, but then 096 finally got to experience some love and affection, something that he never felt before, it was the only time he ever felt happy, and he lost it, it’s so sad, I wanna wear a blindfold and give him a big hug.
I actually cried at this, so tragic and definitely puts "the shy guy" as one of my fav SCPs. Good job devs, you guys rock

When day breaks is always going to be my candidate for scp-001. Sure you have interesting tales like the Scarlet King or the ouroborus cycle. But no other candidate terrifies me quite like when day breaks.

The only other terrifying scp that matches when day breaks is the one when the sentient killer anomalous water gets loose and spreads into the greater water supplies. I'd like to see that one come back again.

The part of 096 caring over the little girl reminds me of a story of Medusa and a blind baby. It's nice to see them as loving beings instead of the monsters they are portrayed as.

One of my favorite book series is "The Girl From the Other Side". it is about a this humanoid demon with amnesia protecting this pure 5 year old girl in a forest overrun with demons that want to corrupt her. this reminds me of that story a lot.

@@Disaster69 he literally got melted by the sun, and im pretty sure he isnt immortal. Theres also a story where 173 snapped his neck ina test, and the foundation put acid into his spine, melting him and Neutralizing him.

SCP's should actually be turned into some kind of television show. At least that's what I think. I believe that they would make a good show with hella seasons because each story would be a different episode. I mean hell, I would watch and re-watch em over and over again. I do that now anyway. Lmao

I feel like When Day Breaks would make an amazing mod for Project Zomboid. Having to avoid the day and all the amalgamations of humans and moving out at night to scavenge would be super fun to try. Been playing way too much of that game and watching way too many SCP videos.
Sadly, you can't go out at night either (without being fully covered (and I mean FULLY covered)). Moonlight is just reflected sunlight after all.

What do you mean? They just don't have anyone dealing with him. Unless you mean when they want to do tests, in which case I'd say that there's no need since it's super easy to keep his face hidden. All they'd need is a bag that's sturdy (in case of an accident). In fact, the only reason he's still classified as Keter is because there could still be pictures of his face somewhere and that would cause him to breach containment with no way to stop it.
@@Interestking Well one of the containment procedures is that when 096 breaches they gas all the researchers near the cube. Would reduce the needs for gases if they were blind

The Desire Camera, an anomaly that shows what people most desire, showed SCP-096 as invisible. This implies that above all else, he doesn't want people to look at him. Maybe it's because it forces him to hurt people.

I was surprised that 096 got terminated (technically) by melting, I thought he’d survive since he did survive getting skinned by 682 and reduced to a skeleton or when his brain got removed by 049

This is a really cute story .. I really enjoyed seeing a softer side of an SCP.
I’m actually interested how he would react to the light. His skeleton is supposed to be completely indestructible, so would the sun melt it or would his skin constantly regrew like it did when he was normally wounded.

one of the most fearsome SCPs out there and this is probably the most wholesome stories I've ever heard.
SCP-96 is actually pretty tame compared to the others. Leave him alone in an unpenetrable room, threat contained. Probably the safest Keter out there, hell I'd say he's more deserving of Euclid now, just like SCP-173. If you want to read about actual Keters, I can recommend a few good ones.
Who knew that one of the most deadliest scp there is could feel joy, love, and to take care of a little girl. This warms my heart. Any thing even if it’s deadly, will always have a good side of them.
