Happy Tuesday everyone! Hope you all had a great holiday weekend! Toyota actually let us know that the HP rating for the regular hybrid is ACTUALLY 245 and not 243, which was said in the video. More power is always nice to see. What do you guys think of the grandest of Highlander’s?
You voted for this HORRIBLE ECONOMY, and you expect us to afford a *Grand* vehicle??? Shame on Biden…. Shame on #MSNBC and #CNN……….
What is the tank size? Also, how is the drivers leg room space?
@@Peace1dy gas is at an all time high under Bidens administration 🥲 the tank size is irrelevant, most people cannot afford to fill it ⛽️
There can only be one!
My guy wearing black in Hawaii!
All these Toyota's Hybrid cars would be amazing if you can actually purchase it.
Right! NOT HAPPENING in Biden failing economy with skyrocketing gas ⛽️ prices and lack of vehicle on dealer lots.
And at MSRP.
I feel like these will sell. May have to upgrade to the TX for easier access
The people are there to buy it but Toyota is just unable to match production with demand, hopefully that changes soon.
Yesss I love my Camry hybrid
That should really be named the Grand Rav4 because it looks nothing like the standard Highlander but everything like the current Rav4 from front to end.
I truly believe Toyota just took the Rav4 and stretched it and gave it different lights front and back rather than stretching the current Highlander 😂
Rav6? Rav8?
@@chibbyylol 4 means 4 wheel drive
@@chibbyylol 😂 That is true
Didn’t do it for marketing made better sense name it Highlander the regular Highlander already a big success
So glad you dropped this video. I've been waiting for this one.
I guess they’re actually saying 75% will get the turbo because they can produce a larger number of them compared to hybrids. It is not that consumer prefers turbo, is more like just 25% are willing to wait for an hybrid.
I think 75% of people don’t want to worry about an expensive battery to replace.
I saw 5 reviews of this in a row in my feed. First click, Redline Reviews, of course!
The lack of piano black interior pieces has be to applauded. I hope the Lexus RX also benefits from this.
I think this is a home run for Toyota. It finally feels current without a lot of gimmicks. As much as I like the CX-90, the GH seems well thought out.
I despise the piano black plastic! I'm extremely clean and careful in my vehicle and still have scratches!
Excellent overview of the Grand Highlander. Based on your review I purchased one today in the Storm Cloud color. I love the smooth ride and there is plenty of space. As you mentioned, I believe Toyota has dramatically underestimated demand for the hybrid versions
Considering the standard highlander is an amazing product, this is definitely a world of difference. In power, features and most importantly space and practicality. The fact that this has the space improvements in the key areas needed most certainly may have consumers scratching their head between this and a sequoia. The features are mostly the same, definitely has some crown inspiration in the interior. But ye this Grand Highlander takes the highlander Label to a new level of family comfort and dependability.
The third row in highlander is tiny….
Lovely camera work guys.
I love it when Sofyan tests out the third row. I find them all claustrophobic.
Buy a minivan.
@@phatgringo2.0was about to say the same. 3-row suv unless it's proper off-road capable and will be used as such, you need a minivan.
The person that buys this will not be sitting in the 3rd row ever. Vehicles like this will finish off the minivan.
Love the style and completeness of your reviews
Great scenery my brother!!! That lake is Lit!!! Have a great evening.
Lit like groovy man?
Very nice work, so comprehensive, thank you!
definitely one of my favorite reviewers and very under rated even with almost 1 million subscribers
Knocked it out of the park. This and the CX-90 own the segment.
Saw the cx-90 in person, and if u are looking for interior space, then you should look elsewhere
@@vuthsuon209 People will force feed the Volvo CX-90 regardless because they feel it’s the best the company has ever produced and everyone should support by buying one. Lol. To say a $60k Mazda owns this segment is hilarious.
@@G-Ratedgrand highlander is the exact same price range as the Mazda you bozo, starts at 40 tops out at 60
The CX-90 will be an also ran compared to this, the Pilot, and the Korean twins because it trails the class in cargo space and third row usability. In a class where people are looking for family vehicles, Mazda missed the mark. For instance behind the first row one has less cargo space than a CRV! Reminds me of the CX-9. Lovely to look at and drive but at the bottom of the class in utility and so it sold poorly.
@@boongaf8515 Who in the hell are you calling a bozo? Did i hit a Mazda fanboy nerve or something? I never asked what the price of the Toyota was. Smart people will choose the Grand Highlander because they’ll get more vehicle for their money. Period. Mazda, similarly to Jeep, thinks that people should pay a premium to obtain their cars now that they believe they’re a luxury brand which is a joke in itself. Mazda will never compete with Mercedes and anyone who thinks so, I have a few things to sell you of my own. 🤡
Thanks for the review.
I’m glad darkened headlight housings are sticking around
I think Toyota made the perfect interior here. Not tacked on touchscreens...and an actual integrated digital gauge cluster! People want simplicity and useability and this nailed it. Having said that, I don't think people should buy anything this big if you're sensible.
A lot of comments are complaining on looks and 4 cylinder engines. V6 and v8 will be phased out for good once the transition is complete for evs and hybrids. To the sport cars fans, the time is almost up
It's a tough pill to swallow, but that is the reality of it all. Everything changes and eventually ends.
The V6 will remain in turbo form in the Tundra/Sequoia/Land Cruiser.
Engine swaps
"the transition"
You probably voted for this.
For sports car folks hybrid sports cars might be in development by prioritizing both Preformance and fuel efficiency.
First of all, you did a great job and thanks for the info. I am currently looking for a bigger vehicle that holda cr v, but pilot is not the better option in my opinion. keep up the good work.
Toyota is gonna have to create a grand Sequoia if they want people to purchase a Sequoia over the grand Hilander. Can't believe they came out with redesign Sequoia wirh less trunk space than the previous model
Nice review.
I think Toyota did a great job here.
I'm happy they kept the shelf. Love mine in the 2015 but would love to upgrade to the new grand highlander
Looks like a fine choice, thanks for the review! I originally located your channel via search, when I was researching which models still included a spare tire, disappointed that you skipped that component on this one.
Man, am I ever happy I got the V6 in my 2022 RX. A turbo’d 4 cylinder is going to be strained sooo bad in a vehicle this size loaded up with passengers and gear.
Thanks to Bidens manufactured climate hysteria, #Toyota is *forced* to produce small engines.
Totally. Thats why they stuck the same engine in the new tacoma. 100% incapable of towing or hauling
@@mattbrew11 , 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Blahh blahh stfu don’t buy it then
265 hp, and it's a turbo...not a good fit. The power they give these bigger vehicles with turbo 4cylinder is a joke. You would think that only the driver is who rides in these SUVs.
Great review
I really like that Hybrid Max!!
Hopefully Toyota offers a Prime Edition in the near future. I'm kinda bummed they didn't offer one when this vehicle debuted😔 45 - 50 miles on all electric would be great!
Excellent vid👊🏽👊🏽
This was a great review.
I will always be a fan! Amazing view
Looks great. Need to fast track that XSE blacked out trim version
realy luv this grand highlander❤❤❤
You and Alex are the best U-tube reviewers!
Does it have OTA software update capability?
Those rims actually look really damn good.
Love that you were here on the islands . As a private chauffeur I love knowing about all the cars I work beside. Did these models come here from being manufactured in the states or where they manufactured in Japan?
Toyota really doing good job here i love it 👌
This reminds of the facelift of the 2nd Gen Highlander with the rear end of the current RAV4.
A mechanic's nightmare 😅
3 electric motors, a battery, and a turbo.
Electric motors and turbos outlast the piston engine in most cases. It’s nothing to worry about.
Delighted Thanks
The Toyota Grand Highlander is claimed to be in transit , right now
Impatiently waiting for arrival and fitting.
Look , function , and fuel economy sound and look promising.
One of the worst thing with Toyota is that you can’t get 8 seater if need higher model. This is really the worst part. I hope Toyota fix this issue and allow to have 8 seater option on higher models.
For this car, they have 8-seat for Hybrid Limited, but not Hybrid Max.
@@phongdinh5935 that’s what I mentioned, only lower model has 8 seater not higher models & lower model has missing lot of other premium features. It is not about different powertrain ‘s.
No. I told them to not do it. 8 seats are for poor man. you go buy minivan. no 8 seats in top trim. nuf said.
8 kids .. you need a suburban / bus 😂
For those who don't need 362 hp to get to soccer practice, the ordinary , 34 mpg Hybrid ought to do just fine. 😉
Always love your reviews. I believe D-4S (which is on all Toyotas?) is both port and direct injection, which has the benefits of direct performance and valve cleaning of port.
Welcome to Hawaii Island! When the intro to the 2024 Tacoma's were going on up in Waimea/or Hilo, I noticed you had a lot of rain. Kailua-Kona was getting a lot of rain, too....but the South Kohala (Waikoloa Beach/Mauna Lani/Mauna Kea) resort areas had beautiful weather!
I, too, am disappointed that Toyota persists in manual steering wheel controls. I have a 2011 RX 450h (which I love) and a 2015 Taco 4x4 (which I like). The Lexus spoils me with lots of "nice-to-haves" absent on my Taco. I appreciate your vids and hope you had the opportunity to see more of my island. It really is the best island in Hawaii!
So a gallon of milk is still $22.00?
@@RLTtizME Nah....I just purchased on Monday a gallon of milk at Safeway for $7.69. Milk has never been quite that expensive here!
Love the traditional shifter
I never liked suvs because I don't have a family yet! This will be my first future suv!
This is a beauty! If Toyota was going to make a Grand Highlander, I guess they plan to discontinue the Sequoia because now sales will be non-existent 😂
Hi thank you so much for this great review. Can you please compare the interior space of the sienna against this, especially the third row seats? I ordered a sienna 8 months ago and the delivery date is unknown. Really like this grand highlander but i need to carry adults (seniors) in the 3rd row so need to find out how it stacks up against the sienna 3rd row.
I’m 6’0” and the lumbar support on regular highlanders hits my back too low for me and is uncomfortable. The Honda lumbar hits me just right. Did Toyoya use seats similar to Highlander or more for a bigger sub like Sequoia?
Do you know if the GH lumbar is higher than regular highlanders?
hi for next review could you please review on the audio systems, acoustics quality?
That red looks so much better than the frumpy powder blue they used for all the initial promo pics on their website. I really want that chrome mustache blacked out, though. It's not as annoying in the red vs. that original blue, but I'd still want it gone.
After watching the video this is a very good SUV and better then the regular Highlander
How could you have watched the full video when the video just released less than 45 seconds ago…?
@@NyQuil.Relief my man watched it in 100x speed

They need a
XSE or Night Shade... I’m trying to figure out if I would regret swapping my 21 Sienna in for G/H.
The Sienna has spoiled us. Room, efficient and so versatile..
U made the right move, this would be 7000 $more and less room and less versatile.
Honda must be punching the air right now with the Grand Highlander coming with a standard 12" screen. Way better gas too. I know V6 is a V6 but hybrids are more popular right now due to gas prices.
Exactly. Just bought a new Lexus NX hybrid for my wife and 40MPG is awesome. 500 miles and we haven’t even gas up yet.
@theredline Nice review, can you get the review vw atlas r liner 7 seat vs toyota highlander grand
Liking it!!
I've been waiting a year for this review!
Lol its only been 4 months since this car came out
@@giad117 True, but it's been talked about in the industry for more than 4 months.
Honestly, I think I like the new Pilot more. I like that they have a v6 engine Nd I believe it gets something similar to these GH v6’s.
Reminds me a lot of a mix between the 2017-2019 highlander and the new rav 4’s . I have a 2017 highlander and I really like the styling of this.
I like the styling of your model better than the 2020 style Highlander, so this seems like a more updated design it looks great
@@carlosventura5291 I agree and why I didn’t but the gen 4 model but I’m giving these grand Highlander’s a hard look.
As an example.. I have a 2016, the same as a 2017 without the design refresh yours has.
Go in and feel how cheap all the materials are om the new models, the doors sound hollow, seats/headrests are chintzy.. the center console has flex, feels loose and chintzy. I can hug and hold onto my center console with my right arm and it does not move it feels substantial with zero flex.
In the new Highlander, I feel like I am going to rip it up from the floor if I hold onto it too tight like a cheap plastic toy.
35:10 if they offer more trims on the grand highlander they would be competing against themself, I think their thinking is that if their consumers want more trims options like a sportier, or off-road version they would have to go with the Sequoia which I think have five or six different trims, This is more of a direct family-oriented SUV while the Sequoia is more of a full-size SUV for a wider range of buyers.
Test drove the grand Highlander today. Did not think the seats were comfortable at all. The seats are extremely shallow (under the legs), and I can’t imagine how a man or tall woman would like these. Also plan to sit directly up by the windshield as it is very slanted into the drivers area. Just wasn’t impressed with any of it. Love my Expedition! But for the heck of it I got an out the door price. Expect to pay about 8G over MSRP. It totally sucks!
Thanks for saving me the time.. So sick of the MSRP games.
I don't understand why they didn't just introduce this as the new Highlander, it's a super-sized rav4, the current highlander looks better, love the fact that they are given more space in the rear, this may be a hit, but the fact that the V6 is gone, may not.
Like everyone else, you forgot to show the ambient lights (evening interior lights). It would be a nice touch to see it.
I literally thought he was in new Zealand. I got married in Kona, and yes it reminds me of home so much! Also I'm here because this is my next car haha
A Prime version with 315 HP and at least 50 miles of EV only range would have made this irresistible. Toyota really needs to continue to refine the Prime powertrain. It is the closest thing to having a cake and eating it too. Provided that you can wait for that cake. 😅
Just spent the last 10 days in Kona Hawaii , those roads are beautiful and the reason why there is so much lava everywhere is because that island is the youngest island
How can we have a *Grand* vehicle in a *Poor* economy ⁉️
Xle is only 2500 more than the highlander xle
I’m glad this came out. I was looking at the Jeeps 3rd row. Currently have a 10 yr old JX35 and my kids are getting teen big, so Kia/Hyundai size 3rd row won’t due. I don’t like those huge SUV’s like Yukon or Taho, they don’t fit in the garage. I’ve previously thought I’ll never drive another 4cyl even in a car, because they all feel so sluggish, but with the engine advancements over the last decade I may give it a go with the hybrid max. I’m also seeing them for just under $60K in stock at dealerships so they are available.
Did you get a new camera? Looks like the video quality got upgraded.
Did your cameraman open the hood for you?😂
I love these minivans, I mean SUV’s
Just a giant Rav4. However, this will sell like crazy
Highland is a pretty popular car i see them all the time i think this one will make decent sales good job toyota👍
Would love an XSE trim of the GH. Hopefully Toyota could make that happen.
Are you saying that all the power train options (gas, hybrid, and hybrid max) will be available in July? I desperately need a new car and I'm holding out for the Grand Highlander Hybrid!
Toyota nailed it with the new Toyota Grand Highlander and it’s family friendly and I see that there’s a USB c changing port on the passenger side and more usb a and c ports. In the third row is roomy, you can actually put adults in the new Grand Highlander and they can fit back there compared to the Highlander, which the 3rd row was very cramped. Although I wish Toyota would offer the XSE like on the regular Toyota Highlander and Adventure like on the Toyota RAV4?
They need to make the interior look and feel far more expensive than it is. And they need to give us more features.
Other brands quite simply do that better.
2 much chrome and a prop rod...really Toyota. Ugliest rims & a 2017 exterior design. 😢
Waiting anxiously for grand highlander prime
I thought they were going to include some sort of adaptive damping. Not air suspension, but electronic adaptive. If it had a super smooth ride and hushed interior, like that Palisade, it would be perfect. They could also tune the engine to be quieter and have a deeper rumble.
Lexus TX will have those features
Palisade doesn't have adaptive damping lol. It has regular steel spring suspension. Also, from test reviews GH already has equally quiet interior as Palisade.
@@explosev6513 Don't lie. Lexus TX won't have adaptive suspension.
Yeah.. there is nothing like a screaming four banger hauling a loaded up 4k pound SUV.
@@danguelph2676yes it will, if the new RX gets it and both are within the same price point the TX will definitely get it.
Rear LED turn signals? That’s what Honda considers too much luxury to have on the new Pilot.
Superb introduction location. I don't think Hawaii gets chosen that often?
flying social media influencers to Hawaii is a good way to boost positive reviews...
What do you guys use to record video?
Those baby exhaust tips at 35:11 😂
Toyota should bring this to Australia. So much better looking inside and out than the Kluger (standard highlander) we get here.
Where is the towing package? Is it a standard feature and just hidden under something in the rear? Are roof rails standard?
Looks better than the regular Highlander for sure, but really sad that the V6 is gone. I currently drive a 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport, previously drove a 2015 Camry XSE V6 & the sound of a Toyota/Lexus V6 is music to my ears. Despite that my next vehicle will likely be ether a EV, Hybrid or Plug-In Hybrid.
I drive a 2020 v6 Camry XSE and I agree. That 3.5 is just amazing 😍
First of all v6 is nothing special. Come on, v8, v10, v12 are the ones to talk about. Your v6 is like a scooter engine compared to them. Second of all, if you have a mental sickness to have specifically a v6 - then you can buy a Lexus TX550+ as it will have V6 and it will be PHEV. You are welcome.
@@danguelph2676 the tx w the v6 will be a very expensive option.
To my eyes, this looks more like a Grand Rav 4. Which is a very very good thing
I would definitely go with Hybrid Platinum rather than Hybrid MAX (would go with Sequoia Hybrid V6 22mpg with great towing cap!).
Anyone noticed the gap on glovebox panels in the regular turbo with Grey interior. 13:41. Is that normal in toyota's

Most people would want the base 245hp hybrid BUT the problem is Toyota will not have the production capacity for the hybrid. This is evident when you look at the Sienna and how hard it is to find one. Their will be plenty of base turbos which is probably why they quoted you that take rate.
A lot of space, prefect for car camping.
So disappointed with only 265 horse power. The 2020 has 295 horsepower. 👎. I love your videos bro 😎 👍
This is the standard hybrid trim. The hybrid max trim is 362HP and 400+ torque.
