  • Lang Lang wowed tourists in the ‘City of Love’ on Valentine’s Day 2019 as he gave a unique album launch concert in Paris on a boat cruising along the Seine, performing pieces from his new album, Piano Book, such as the French classic ‘Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum’ by Claude Debussy.
With ‘Piano Book’, Lang Lang goes back to his first love - to the pieces that made him want to become a musician in the first place. “I dedicate this album to my wonderful piano students and all my friends around the world who love the piano as much as I do.” Rediscovering the most popular and accessible pieces written for learners and lovers of the piano, this album is a journey of inspiration, discovery, fantasy, and learning. ‘Piano Book’ gathers together many of the miniatures that generations of amateur pianists have grown up with. Lang Lang holds them in the highest regard, believing them to be classics in their own right. He wants to encourage piano students across the world to fully appreciate them.

Lang Lang is a classical music phenomenon. I think the versatility with which he plays the piano and the way he conducts his career, Lang Lang is already a musician forever. He's making his history like the Beatles, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Count Basie... Just some of the names I can think of now. There's Ella, unforgettable! All of them, like Lang Lang have an eternal legacy. Generations will come and other musicians will quote him, say his name as an example, frequent environments where they can hear his music. Legacy is more extensive than we imagine, because we don't know where it ends.
I don!'t need to make mirabolical elucubations to discuss what Lang Lang means in the lives of people who admire him. He's the man! That's it.
Sometimes I ask myself: does Lang Lang belong to the music or does the music belong to Lang Lang? Meanwhile, I go on with Lang Lang drinking from this inexhaustible fountain of wisdom. Grateful.

Bonjour ! Love own Experience : About the Children's Corner.. was around 13, playing it at home with all of my heart, (slowly that Lang Lang of course,) but was feeling myself in the Universe, crushed, body disapearing in the vibes of the cords like flying, just ONE within the great all. Phone rang, dad was speaking with a 1rst price of the Paris Conversatory de Paris. He heard me playing and said to dad : please shut up, let me hear her, this is so deep pure and beautiful.. Dad (great saxophonist) shut up. This moment of Pure Heart remains in me forever, thanks for the compliment of course, but i Know that True musicians have a great lil something more in their brain and heart that allows them to reach Highest Plans and this is the reward of great work. Always in Love, Awe and Respect. And thanks Lang Lang for spreading these vibes in the Air :-D music heals and the World need that so much.

Absolutely horrible and ridiculous. A pure show off performance. The high speed tempo completely destroys the melody, detail and nuance of Debussy `s masterpiece. The intended tempo is "moderement anime" - a moderate tempo between 112 - 126 bpm, much slower than this. Debussy would hate this - or laugh at it, in the best case.
